Book 4: milk and honey by Rupi KaurAni song: “Skinny Love” ✔️
This Ani song was a Bon Iver cover, and while I’m sure it has different interpretations for different people, to me, it speaks about a romantic relationship and the love (or lack there of in this case) that the singer is currently experiencing, and the desire to make the small amount of love left between them (the “skinny” love) last as long as it can. Rupi Kaur’s book of poetry not only sublimely depicts these feelings (a lack of love in a relationship), but also goes on to thoroughly express the various emotions and feelings that are often found throughout the lifespan of all relationships (both good and bad). As such, I think this book fits the challenge perfectly.

Another cover Ani did, this one from the musical Hadestown. The song is about building a wall “to keep us free”, the book is about the injustices and horror found within the “walls” of the prison system. Seemed appropriate. Both eye opening.
