Bill (kernos) | 334 comments I finished Port Eternity a great horror/SciFi by C.J. Cherryh and started Missing Man by Katherine Anne MacLean

Maclean is a new author for me—actually I've nor heard of her, but read great things about her work. Is anyone a fan?

No, I have not heard of her -- but this novella is from my favorite period of science fiction, which makes me hate that I have not investigated her, especially since I'm sure I've read her name in Nebula Award lists.

Ken (ogi8745) | 1430 comments Wow, I thought I heard of all the old school SF authors. I have never heard of her. I suspect it's that she is a mainly short story/novella writer.
It's only in the last 10 years or so that I was ok with reading short stories.

Have you seen the wikipedia article on Katherine MacLean. I probably overlooked her since she primarily wrote short fiction, which I generally avoid,

I am quite enjoying Missing Man, the 1975 novel expanded from her 1971 Analog novella.
