Set in Asia

It's a big place, so surely I can find something on my shelves. Oh. Pachinko. It's turning out to be quite the slog. I guess here's my incentive to get through it.

I'll put "A Tale for the Time Being" by Ruth Ozeki here. It is two stories intertwined, the main one being that of a teenage girl. Her story/diary is being read by a woman in Canada, but most of the action is in Japan.

What did you think of it? I started it but got distracted by something else and haven't picked it back up yet.

I did end up counting Pachinko for this prompt, I believe. That's the nice thing about audiobooks; they keep going even when you're bored silly.

I liked it, and towards the end, I didn't want to put it down. I just found it difficult to pick up any book whatsoever thanks to the pandemic and how unsettled the world is. It was always just getting beyond the picking-it-up stage.

I am helping a friend edit a book she has written that is about early travel to Asia. When I am done, I will count it for this challenge, even though it will not have been published.

I cannot count my friend's book through Goodreads, because it has not been published.

But I can count Unbroken by Laura Hillenbrand, which is set in Asia, at least the most shockingly memorable portions.
