Type of Book and Cover

As I search through this mass collection of books, I wonder, does it really matter if the book is hard cover or paperback? Version 1 or 99? Abridged or unabridged? Aren't we really getting at is the story in the first place???

5 years later, I'm a huge fan of electronic. I know the purists will shrug or point and laugh, but its convenient.

I prefer paperback. Hardcover okay. But trying to read electronic versions I really just can't concentrate. And I love getting my hands on an ancient book. Recently I read a biography of Lincoln from the 1890s I found in a college library.
