All my faves, plus a healthy dose of things that I hope never end up as the monthly tag (but that will challenge me nicely if they do)...
I cracked up laughing when I found "whining".
KateNZ - I think whining is due to me!

If so, you're a star!
I was entirely bemused by "Texas bluebonnet" (and looking at the list didn't reveal an organising principle) but Google indicated it was some kind of award thing.

Thanks to the moderators for the hard work involved.

I might as well be prepared. Just in case. 🤣🤣

"contemporary romance" /and/ "romance contemporary"
Love some of the additions. Sorry to see "italy" knocked off the list, though.
Oh well ... we can't have everything!

There is the Mediterranean, though.

Great list! So many good/interesting tags

Thanks for pointing out that duplication! I'll take care of that.

I am assuming "alpha males" is the same as Theresa's "Male bodice Ripper"

Maybe not....but will check more closely. Alpha Males looked initially to me like romance with Special Forces males with tattoos and naked chests on tbe covers (the better to show off the tats).
Male Bodice Rippers are those testoterone heavy books written by Tom Clancy, Clive Cussler, Nelson DeMille, etc. Books straight men buy to read.

To clarify it is not the genre but the tag... it is meaningless. Women, especially evidenced by this group, read so broad that chic lit is an outdated and sexist tag. I hate it >:-(

Now THAT I can totally get on board with! While I used to use the term "chick lit," I don't any more for the reason you stated! I go with contemporary romance most of the time instead.

Seriously, as if men have the market cornered on meaningful reads. I can think of some "men's" fiction that was just so much "male fluff" that received raves - the whole Rabbit series, Portnoy's Complaint and others of that ilk.
Whereas some books which women right are thoughtful and provide deeply meaningful and thought provoking insights to family and relationships which are relevant to everyone. One which I am thinking of is Queenie, which I probably should have put on my best of list this year.

Oh I really want to read Queenie sometime! Don't have it on my physical tbr, so it's on the long list but as with everything else... someday *sigh*

I saw that and thought, I should have put it on mine as well. I think it should have more readers at PBT. It was funny sweet, but thought provoking.

Another vote for Queenie!
I just realized it wasn't even on my want-to-read so I added it.
At some point in the year I stopped adding books to my want-to-read to keep me out of trouble... it didn't work 😜
This year, after soliciting input and mapping against the GR top tags, and de-duplicating, we ended up with a total number of 317 tags from which our two randomly selected tags each month will be drawn.
