I've read some of his short stories, but not most of them. I just feel like short stories in general aren't usually fleshed out enough for my taste. Thank you for the recommendations though. I own both of those books and will check out those stories.

It was almost a tie between DC and GE for me...Oliver Twist is one that I just could not get into for the life of me (though I recommend watching the musical :-D))
I've never read Two Cities, so I can't say. On my shelf I have Little Dorrit which seems like a good story-- I just get swept away by other books and I never get around to it....

I hope you like them- I thought the novellas were pretty fleshed out considering the stories...as much as I loved "Policeman" I actually thought it could have been trimmed more
Salma wrote: "Started an Agatha Christie (perfect for NYC winter days :-)) - The Moving Finger. Also picked up this memoir, which looks really interesting- will start it later: Educated"
Educated was terrific, Salma! How Tara Westover grew up without being permanently injured (other than mentally) is almost beyond belief. There are many interviews with her available. I added some links in my review.

A Clash of Spheres by P.F. Chisholm is the eighth in this favourite historical mystery series where the dashing Sir Robert Carey is always close to being assassinated! Scotland, 1592.

I'm looking forward to reading it, though it seems that it will be pretty disturbing- thanks for the links!

I've been reading Awakening by GR thomas. Its been really good so far. There are about 4 books in the series I believe.
I just finished
Route 66 Still Kicks: Driving America's Main Street by Rick Antonson because vicarious travel is currently my only available option. My review - www.Goodreads.com/review/show/3751014970
Kristie is the wife upstairs similar to Jane Eyre? I read a review on a book that is supposed to be a modernized Jane Eyre. I didn't write the title down. I have been trying to remember the name of the book. That title sounds like it could be the one.
I'm about 40% of the way through Girl, Woman, Other and if it wasn't for the fact I had a day job that expected me to do the work I was hired to do, this would probably be a one sitting book. The character development and combination of comedy, drama, pain & pleasure is phenomenal. Bernardine Evaristo is incredible and I hope to read more of her work in 2021.

I don't know how similar it really is, except for the names and maybe the "romance" between the two MCs, because I never read Jane Eyre.
My first fiction book of 2021 -
Station Eleven by Emily St. John Mandel. My review - https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

I think a lot of readers were, Kristie! The family was active on Amazon, panning her book with 1-star reviews. Makes for interesting reading if they're still there. :)
Nobody Walks by one of my favourite authors, Mick Herron, has nothing to do with driving kids to school these days. : )Always suspenseful!
4★ Link to my Nobody Walks review
Who knew there was an in-depth, scientific (GORGEOUS!) study of international fairies?! A Natural History of Fairies by Emily Hawkins and illustrator Jessica Roux is terrific - as appealing for oldies as for kiddies!
5★ Link to my Fairies review with several beautiful illustrations

Inferior: How Science Got Women Wrong—and the New Research That's Rewriting the Story by Angela Saini - an interesting overview of competing theories and evidence in neuroscience, psychology, and evolutionary biology .my review - www.Goodreads.com/review/show/3741142714

I Heard You Paint Houses: Frank the Irishman Sheeran & Closing the Case on Jimmy HoffaI am starting this one today. Has anyone read this? I received this one for Christmas from my daughter and have not read any reviews about it yet. Would love your thoughts.
Hello,I am currently reading Eichmann in Jerusalem: A Report on the Banality of Evil by Hannah Arendt.
I finished a short story: A Time for Eating Wild Onions
by L.A. Starks.My short 2 star review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Just recently finished
Winds of the Forest and I was surprised. I really truly loved it! It was a great story, decent characters, surprising twists, and a quick read on top of it all. Plot basis is similar to Hunger Games- over reaching Capital, post-apocalyptic world, and girl in a position she did not plan to be in.I used it for the Afrofuturist novel on Popsugar 2021 challenge. It was not something I would have picked up without the challenge, but looking forward to the second and third book.
Maybe it's the winter...but I've been on an Agatha Christie kick- after almost a decade. Partial to Miss Marple. Just finished "The Moving Finger" which I LOVED- my review:
https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
And the "The Body in the Library"- which I liked a lot.

Going on to And Then There Were None now.
Also reading the Outlander, which I imagine will take me through the rest of the winter....lol
Itchy fingers? Amigurumi Crochet: Farm and Forest Animals by Kristen Rask will have you busy with these cute designs. Clear details, excellent instructions.

I finally decided to 'review' my own 2020 on Goodreads by choosing the books I liked best. It's a strange assortment, but that's what makes reading fun for me.
5★ of course! Link to my good reads of 2020

Entangled Life: How Fungi Make Our Worlds, Change Our Minds & Shape Our FuturesI never thought that fungi could be so interesting! About every 3rd page I find my self going, "Really? Wow! I had no idea!"

The Humans by Matt Haig. Maybe some would consider this Sci-fi lite, but I really liked it. My review - www.Goodreads.com/review/show/3762318602
Alondra wrote: "I’m currently reading Outlander by Diana Gabaldon :)"Loved the whole series, I hope you will too.
Pacific: Silicon Chips and Surfboards, Coral Reefs and Atom Bombs, Brutal Dictators, Fading Empires, and the Coming Collision of the World's Superpowers by Simon WinchesterMy review - www.Goodreads.com/review/show/3753507151
The Art of Violence: A Lydia Chin/Bill Smith Novel by S.J. Rozan. Rozan usually alternates which one of her two private investigators gets to tell the story. This time Bill Smith deals with a convicted killer turned celebrated artist who believes he's a serial killer. This is #13 in the series but the mystery reads easily as a standalone. My review - www.Goodreads.com/review/show/3645043534
I enjoyed the audiobook for
We Should All Be Feminists by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie - articulate, succinct, and illustrated with her Nigerian, but universal, experiences. My review - www.Goodreads.com/review/show/3780963637

I've just started Prodigal Son [bookcover..."
Stephen King has such great short stories and novellas. Did you ever read Everything's Eventual? "Riding with the Bullet" still gives me the creeps.
The other one that I love by him is Four Past Midnight. "The Library Policeman" still makes me want to sleep with the lights on
