Fishface | 19006 comments 11/22 is the horrible day Billy Metherd -- he was just a baby -- was eviscerated by his mother Carol with a broken bottle. She was having a psychotic break. I can't find an article on this, sorry!

(Carol being walked out to the ambulance, still soaked in Billy's blood)

This is the day they found A dead woman known to the Florida police as "Madame X" and online as "Seminole County Jane Doe." It's high time they found out her name. The autopsy indicated she had at least 1 child out there somewhere, for one thing. Even if she was all alone in the world, get this poor woman her name back! See Blind Fury: The Shocking True Story of Eugene Stano.

John Brooks killed Artis Johnson. See https://murderpedia.org/male.B/b/broo...
Bruce Williams was tied up in what seemed to be a harmless, consensual bondage scenario. Then it got ugly. See The Bayou Strangler: Louisiana’s Most Gruesome Serial Killer.

(Bruce is in the top row, 3rd from R)
Willie Pickton killed Wendy Crawford. She was already a single mom with diabetes and Crohn's disease, and then this on top of everything. See The Pickton File.

Vonnie Stuth died pointlessly. See You Belong to Me and Other True Crime Cases.

Cody Legebokoff killed Loren Leslie. The only good thing about this sorry episode in Canadian history is that he was arrested almost immediately afterwards, ending his killing spree. See The Country Boy Killer: The True Story of Cody Legebokoff, Canada's Teenage Serial Killer.
We lost Nelson Rehmeyer in a bizarre scenario created when the ringleader of a gang of teenaged boys, John Blymyer, became convinced that Nelson had put a curse on him. See Trials of Hex.

(the killers -- John Curry, Wilbert Hess, John Blymyer)

This is also the day that Anthony LaRette started talking at last. before he was done he had confessed to 16 more murders than they originally suspected him of committing. See She Had No Enemies: How I Turned My Sister's Death By A Serial Killer Into A Positive Force In My Life.

message 357: by Fishface (new)

Fishface | 19006 comments 11/28 is the day Alexander Pichushkin killed a V.I. Dududkin. See Alexander Pichushkin: The Shocking True Story of the Chessboard Killer.
On this day in 1958, Roberty Zarinsky murdered Officer Charles Bernoskie. Fifty years later to the day, Zarinsky croaked in prison. It's still 50 more years than Charles got. See 50 American Serial Killers You've Probably Never Heard Of: Volume 3.

Thomas Dillon killed Kevin Loring. See Sniper Killer : The True Story Of Thomas Dillon.
Brian Whitcher came to a terrible end, and was duly added to Randy Kraft's scorecard as "Portland Head." See The Scorecard Killer: The Life of Serial Killer Randy Steven Kraft.

But the theme today is familicides:
Mary Jane, Eric, Robert and Harry De La Roche Sr. were killed by Harry Jr. He couldn't face telling them some bad news and this was his only other idea, apparently. See Anyone's Son.

This is also the day Lowell Lee Andrews killed his parents and sister, William, Opal and Jennie Marie. See In Cold Blood. He wound up on Death Row with two other guys who'd killed most of another family.

message 358: by Fishface (new)

Fishface | 19006 comments 11/29 is the day someone killed Karen Lee Spencer. It took many years and the work of a cold-case squad to clear it at last. See https://forthuntherald.com/cold-case-...

Robert Sanderson became the latest victim of the California Donald Miller. See https://law.justia.com/cases/californ...
We also lost Lisa Monzo. See Hunting Evil.

WAYNE Millard
Carla Ann Hughes dusted her boyfriend's pregnant fiancée, Avis Banks. See https://murderpedia.org/female.H/h/hu...

Edna Shade died at the hands of Gilbert Jordan. Her blood alcohol at autopsy was a mind-boggling .77. See The Alcohol Murders: The True Story of Serial Killer Gilbert Paul Jordan.
Stephen Nash killed Larry Rice, who was just a kid. Nash said he saw Larry as having a great life, and resented the little boy's bright future so much that he iced him. See In the Company of Evil: Thirty Years of California Crime, 1950-1980.

Last but not least, this is the day Grady Stiles was murdered. The moral I took from Fred Rosen's book on the case, Lobster Boy: The Bizarre Life and Brutal Death of Grady Stiles Jr., was that he kind of had it coming. But still.

message 359: by Fishface (last edited Nov 22, 2020 02:30PM) (new)

Fishface | 19006 comments 11/30 is the day Bobbie Turner and Valerie Marr vanished from the beauty shop where they worked, along with Patricia's daughter Valerie. The two hairdressers turned up dead at their workplace, called Nell's. Valerie, 16, would not be found until the middle of the following year. Oddly enough, she was found dead near Starke, Florida, where you can find Florida's Death Row and their well-used electric chair, "Old Sparky." See Death Roads: The Story of the Donut Shop Murders.
This is the day Police Chief William Biggy vanished. See https://www.sfexaminer.com/news/the-m...

Anthony Jackson killed Synge Gillespie. See 50 American Serial Killers You've Probably Never Heard Of: Volume 5.

Billie Jo Watson died at the hands of a mentally-ill Vietnam veteran, James Allen Kinney. See 50 American Serial Killers You've Probably Never Heard Of: Volume 6.
Bill Suff killed the unlucky Michelle Gutierrez. See The Riverside Killer.
John Mudie was strangled in what proved to be one of the most notorious cases of the decade, and it didn't end there; the killer, an Australian politician, may have been a bit of a serial killer. See The Trial of Thomas John Ley and Lawrence John Smith.

(the only photo of Mudie I could find online -- taken at the crime scene)
We also lost Clarence and Geneva Roberts, in a real head-scratcher of a case. See Notorious 92: Indiana's Most Heinous Murders in All 92 Counties.

message 360: by Fishface (last edited Nov 30, 2020 04:26PM) (new)

Fishface | 19006 comments 12/1 is the anniversary of the day a young gas-station attendant, Robert Colvert, died at the hands of Chuck Starkweather. Bobby had a pregnant wife waiting for him at home. See Waste Land: The Savage Odyssey of Charles Starkweather and Caril Ann Fugate.

Stephen Nash killed William Burns. See In the Company of Evil: Thirty Years of California Crime, 1950-1980.
This is the approximate day in 1855 that John and Sarah Hubbard ended the hopes and dreams of Edward Boyle. See Notorious 92: Indiana's Most Heinous Murders in All 92 Counties.
It's now been 6 whole years since Jody Lee Hunt, the owner of a towing company in West Virginia, decided to straighten out everything at once by killing his ex, Sharon Berkshire; his cousin, Jody Taylor, who was in a relationship with Sharon; Michael Frum, who was also in a relationship with Sharon; and Jody's business rival, Doug Brady. He then saved the taxpayers the cost of a trial by blowing his own head off. This is not the only mass murder mentioned in these columns, but it is definitely the only one that features two men named Jody who are cousins AND who are both romantically involved with the same woman. As Hannibal Lecter might say, "pure West Virginia." See https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/n...

Charles Jackson died pretty randomly at the hands of Vaughn Greenwood. See In the Company of Evil: Thirty Years of California Crime, 1950-1980.

EDIT: This is also the anniversary of the murder of Debroh Lynn McConnell by parties unknown. See Shallow Graves: The Hunt for the New Bedford Highway Serial Killer.

message 361: by Fishface (last edited Nov 29, 2020 12:19PM) (new)

Fishface | 19006 comments 12/2 is the anniversary of the murder of Kellie Poppleton, who died at 13. They found her beaten, strangled and sexually assaulted. One major suspect appears here: https://www.upi.com/Archives/1983/12/... To learn about a couple of the others, see Hunting Evil.

Oddly enough, this is also the day Vanessa Lei Samson was murdered, and you can also read about her in Hunting Evil. I'm happy to say her killers are in the jug for life for what they did to her.

We lost Paul and Janie Kutz to a pack of Satanists, specifically Jeffrey Meyer and Mark Thompson. See Raising Hell: An Encyclopedia of Devil Worship and Satanic Crime.
Sandra Fry lost her life to the Bedroom Basher, Gerald Parker. See In the Company of Evil: Thirty Years of California Crime, 1950-1980.
Maxine Walker was found where Eugene Britt left her. See Notorious 92: Indiana's Most Heinous Murders in All 92 Counties.
And Maurice Viens. This is the day they found out what happened to him after he disappeared. His case was unsolved when Hunting Humans: The Encyclopedia of Serial Killers, Vol. 2 went to press, but in the time since we have this development: https://historiquementlogique.com/201... (Sorry it's in French! The first photo shows the suspect, Jean-Baptiste Duchesneau, at R with his attorney shown L.

(Maurice was 4 when he was raped and beaten to death)
Leslie Irvin killed the unlucky Mary Holland. See 50 American Serial Killers You've Probably Never Heard Of: Volume 2.
Ariel Rios, an ATF agent, gave his life protecting the public from illegal trafficking. See In the Line of Duty: The Story of the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial.

Ariel

And happy birthday, Tex Watson! TC readers' lives would be so much less exciting if your sorry keester had never been born. Here's $20; g0 get yourself a better haircut. See Helter Skelter: The True Story of the Manson Murders.

message 362: by Fishface (last edited Nov 30, 2020 04:23PM) (new)

Fishface | 19006 comments 12/3 is the anniversary of the murder of Richard and Donna Hyde. The article where I discovered the photo below says their killer was never found, but Rise of the Black Serial Killer: Documenting a Startling Trend says Edward Surratt confessed to it.

(who knows who raised the girls after they were suddenly left without either parent)
Alysia Ann Beasley was murdered by David WAYNE McCall. See a brief mention in a brief mention in In Plain Sight: The Kaufman County Prosecutor Murders.
We lost April Barnett to Dr. No, who has fairly recently been named: Samuel Legg. See
https://crimejunkiepodcast.com/serial...

(April is all the way at the lower R)
Obie Faye Ash died at the hands of a perky, reassuringly upbeat kind of serial killer named Mark Smith. See Legally Sane.

We lost Stacy Belcher to WAYNE Harvey Smith. She would be found 3 days later. See https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/1...
Doris Register was shot on approximately this day, but survived to identify her attacker, Earl Daughtrey, to the authorities. See Hunting Humans: The Encyclopedia of Serial Killers, Vol. 2.

message 363: by Fishface (last edited Nov 29, 2020 08:59PM) (new)

Fishface | 19006 comments 12/4 is the day Leshia Brooks was shot through the head by a graduate of the University of Michigan School of Social Work named Victor Malone. A professor -- who was still teaching there when I attended the school myself -- fought tooth and nail to defend his former student, whom he had welcomed as a member of his family and trusted with his children. Proving that some people are hard to really know. See https://www.upi.com/Archives/1985/02/...
Holy poop I just looked him up on OTIS, the Offender Tracking Information System -- MDOC number 181008 -- and it says he was discharged on January 13th of this year. Another kick in the teeth for us in 2020. The possible good news is that he was "discharged" because he died. I'm hoping for the latter as it says his minimum sentence was LIFE.
Lucious Boyd murdered Dawnia Dacosta. See 50 American Serial Killers You've Probably Never Heard Of Volume 8.

David Bullock killed James Weber. See 50 American Serial Killers You've Probably Never Heard Of: Volume 4.
Edith Hastie and her sons Thomas, Charlie, Paul and Peter were waked up in the middle of the night by that rarest of killers, a serial mass murderer. Edith got Thomas out alive, but the other boys died of burns. See https://thetruecrimeenthusiast.co.uk/...

(the Hastie crime scene)
The Lewingdon brothers killed Joseph Annick. See Hunting Humans: The Encyclopedia of Serial Killers, Vol. 2.
Another little-known Michigan serial killer, Robert Tanner, killed most of the Manwarren family. Only the baby, Terry, was left alive. See https://ididitforjodie.com/2016/12/24...

A man variously called Joseph Connelly and Jerry Schrader was killed by a man variously called William Christenson or Christensen. The victim's? killer's? roommate, an exotic dancer, vanished at the same time and has never been seen since. (Again, whose girlfriend she was depends on where you're reading about the case. Someone give me some clarity here!) See Cold North Killers: Canadian Serial Murder.

This is also the day a lynch mob -- of sorts -- took out Ken Rex McElroy. There were all kinds of witnesses but nobody saw anything. Huh! See In Broad Daylight: A murder in Skidmore, Missouri.

Better than all of these, this is the day Christine Cholakis escaped alive from Monroe Hickson. See 50 American Serial Killers You've Probably Never Heard Of: Volume 4.

message 364: by Fishface (new)

Fishface | 19006 comments December 5th. First, the good news:

Moses Sithole was sentenced to 50 years for each of his 38 (known) killings. That showed him. See Catch Me a Killer: Serial Murders: A Profiler's True Story.
Ralph Andrews croaked in prison on this day in 2006, 14 years ago now. I report this with pretty mixed feelings because he almost certainly took information on multiple unsolved murders to the grave with him. See True Crime Story: I Survived A Monster.

This is also the day Janusz Komar kicked Maria Weis to death. See Torture Killers.
Romulus Veres took Ana Valentina Florea from us forever. See Romanian Serial Killers: The Punisher.
Marie Walcker's death warrant was signed by her new husband, Johann Hoch. See Heartland Serial Killers: Belle Gunness, Johann Hoch, and Murder for Profit in Gaslight Era Chicago.

Deirdre O'Brien became the latest victim of James Koedatich. See 50 American Serial Killers You've Probably Never Heard Of: Volume 3.
On this day in 1983, one of Larry Eyler's innumerable "John Doe" victims turned up. Wikipedia informed me just now that this was in fact Richard Bruce, but you know, Wikipedia, grain of salt, etc. See Freed to Kill: The True Story of Larry Eyler.
Hazier still are the circumstances of Teresa Fusco's rape and murder. Her body was found on this day in 1985. According to Raising Hell: An Encyclopedia of Devil Worship and Satanic Crime, John Kogut, Dennis Halstead and John Restivo were jugged for it after Kogut admitted everything, but in 2005 DNA testing cleared all of them.

message 365: by Fishface (last edited Nov 29, 2020 09:01PM) (new)

Fishface | 19006 comments 12/6 is the anniversary of the horrific baseball-bat murder of Steve Newberry. The three guys who did it said they were sacrificing him to Satan. See Raising Hell: An Encyclopedia of Devil Worship and Satanic Crime.

Nikolai Koryagin became the Chessboard Killer's latest victim. See Born to Kill in the USSR.

(Nikolai is marked #44)
Renee Saling was killed by William Mansfield, Jr. See Hunting Humans: The Encyclopedia of Serial Killers, Vol. 2.
Willie Pickton did his usual number on the unlucky Angela Jardine. See On the Farm.
Beverly Wortmann lost her life to Anthony LaRette. See She Had No Enemies: How I Turned My Sister's Death By A Serial Killer Into A Positive Force In My Life.

Adolf Hennies died violently. Fritz Haarmann later admitted dismembering him, but -- gasp -- he didn't KILL him, what do you people take him for? See Monsters of Weimar: The Stories of Fritz Haarmann and Peter Kurten.
Rachael Raver and her boyfriend, Warren Fulton, were abducted and killed after leaving a bar together. The killer proved some time later to be Alfredo Prieto. See 50 American Serial Killers You've Probably Never Heard Of: Volume 3.
For photos see here: https://unsolvedmysteries.fandom.com/...

message 366: by Fishface (last edited Nov 29, 2020 02:33PM) (new)

Fishface | 19006 comments 12/7 is the day three men described in Bring the War Home: The White Power Movement and Paramilitary America as "active duty skinheads" -- James Burmeister, Malcolm Wright, and Randy Lee Meadows -- killed Mike James and Jackie Burden for the crime of being black.

Sheila Salter died a hideous death at the hands of Peter Brighteyes. See Deadmonton: Crime Stories from Canada's Murder City.

Warren Forrest -- probably -- did away with Jamie Grissim. See https://www.nbcnews.com/feature/cold-...
This is also the day someone found Jane Doe Medford, a victim of Robert Shulman. See http://www.doenetwork.org/cases/1215u...
Rossana Miliani and Michael Louis proved to have been killed by Gary Hilton in totally separate incidents. See 50 American Serial Killers You've Probably Never Heard Of: Volume 7.

Fishface | 19006 comments 12/8 is the anniversary of the day someone found Cheryl Ross dead. You can lay that at the door of Andre Crawford. See Rise of the Black Serial Killer: Documenting a Startling Trend.
Niels Hoegel, up to no good as usual, killed a patient of his named Heinrich H. See Serial Killer Nurse.
Kelly Stough was gunned down 2 years ago today by the good Reverend Albert Weathers of Sterling Heights, Michigan. A police officer found her lying dead on the street. State Atty General Dana Nessel is treating it as a hate crime. See https://www.rollingstone.com/culture/...

Speaking of hate crimes, this is the day Robert Mathews, one of the leaders of the white-supremacist group known as The Order, was incinerated alive in a standoff with the FBI. After some of the crimes he'd been responsible for this seemed kind of fair, but an unfortunate effect of his death is that he is now a martyr to the movement, and his widow a virtual Joan of Arc figure. See A Hundred Little Hitlers: The Death of a Black Man, the Trial of a White Racist, and the Rise of the Neo-Nazi Movement in America.

Ann Walenta became a victim of the Wichita Horror. See Rise of the Black Serial Killer: Documenting a Startling Trend.
We lost John Utlak, rather suddenly. See In the Line of Duty: The Story of the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial.

Mme. Berthe-Anna Heon disappeared immediately after becoming Mme. Berthe-Anna Heon Landru. See Landru's Secret: The Deadly Seductions of France's Lonely Hearts Serial Killer.
We also proved on this day to have lost Mr. and Mrs. Aurelius Turner to the depredations of Alonzo Robinson, a weirdo if I ever saw one. See 50 American Serial Killers You've Probably Never Heard Of: Volume 4.

Fishface | 19006 comments 12/9 is the anniversary of the day good old Niels Hoegel did away with an Erna M. See, again, Serial Killer Nurse.
Ellen Stack lost her life to Dr. Cream. See Trial of Thomas Neill Cream.
Alishia Germaine disappeared along the Highway of Tears...but not forever. See Highway of Tears: A True Story of Racism, Indifference and the Pursuit of Justice for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls.

We lost 7-year-old Christina Marsh to pedophile Harold Green on approximately this day. For some reason my Book of the Dead does not cite a source but I think this case appears in The Child Killers.
The unlucky Lance Taggs became a line on Randy Kraft's scorecard, reading "Portland Hawaii." See Angel of Darkness: The True Story of Randy Kraft and the Most Heinous Murder Spree.
David Talsma vanished from human ken. When he finally turned up in John WAYNE Gacy's crawlspace, he had to be identified by x-rays. See Buried Dreams: Inside the Mind of a Serial Killer.

Sandra McGee Steppuhn, the mother of 3 children, died at the hands of Alfred Powell. See https://sanfrancisco.cbslocal.com/201...

(you always wonder how the kids get through after losing their moms that way)

Fishface | 19006 comments 12/10 is the anniversary of the day someone found Rochelle Dopierala where her killer had left her, in a gravel pit. He has never been brought to justice. See Shallow Graves: The Hunt for the New Bedford Highway Serial Killer.

Elizabeth Gillespie was setting up tea for her friends when someone pointed a shotgun at her through the front window and pulled the trigger. The case has not been satisfactorily cleared up according to Notorious 92: Indiana's Most Heinous Murders in All 92 Counties, but to the police her twin brother James was always the most interesting suspect.

This is the approximate day Curtis Brown died at the hands of Michael Terry. See 50 American Serial Killers You've Probably Never Heard Of: Volume 3.

Michael Terry in custody
Clara Rogers was so seriously assaulted on approximately this day in 1912 that she would die of her injuries the following April. See The Murder of Geneva Hardman and Lexington's Mob Riot of 1920.
Niels Hoegel once again killed a patient, this one identified in the papers as Maria M. See, as usual, Serial Killer Nurse.
Timothy Tinning died at just about 3 weeks of age. See From Cradle to Grave: The Short Lives and Strange Deaths of Marybeth Tinning's Nine Children.

But the news isn't all bad! This is the day Pamela Jaske escaped Joe Kallinger with her life. See The Door-To-Door Killer.

Fishface | 19006 comments 12/11 is the anniversary of the day we lost LaTanya Johnson to, apparently, Deputy Rickey Ross, who was a cop during the day and a drug-addled serial killer in his off hours. See The Grim Sleeper: The Lost Women of South Central or here: https://www.latimes.com/archives/la-x...

Rickey
Veronica Foy lost her life to Jack Knight, who was supposedly walking her home from a dance as he led her to the place of her death. She was 15. See The Sex Killers.
Paul Dancik was taken from us by the Death Angels. See The Zebra Murders: A Season of Killing, Racial Madness, and Civil Rights.
Stephen Morin killed Carrie Scott, saying later he didn't want to do it. The jury sentenced him to death anyway. See https://medium.com/the-true-crime-edi... or https://www.theguardian.com/world/200...

Bill Suff killed his second known victim, Charlotte Palmer. I say "known" even though he made a point of leaving the bodies in public, in humiliating positions, where they would be found quickly. See The Riverside Killer.

The Death Angels killed Paul Dancik and marked him down on their score sheet. Yes, there was one, apparently. See The Zebra Murders: A Season of Killing, Racial Madness, and Civil Rights.
Kelly Sue Bunting was killed and left in a garbage can, where someone found her on this day in 1995. See https://www.nytimes.com/1999/03/05/ny...
Bertha Tanner lost her life to serial pervoid Gregory Davis. He waylaid, sexually assaulted and beat Bertha to death in her home before sexually mutilating her. He was all of 21; she was 83. See 50 American Serial Killers You've Probably Never Heard Of: Volume 4.

Fishface | 19006 comments 12/12 is a theme day. The secret phrase today, boys and girls, is MALE-ON-MALE SERIAL MURDER.

For starters, this is the anniversary of the murder of 15-year-old Rene Charlebois by pedophilic killer Doug Moore. See Cold North Killers: Canadian Serial Murder.

(I have to admit he looks pretty harmless)
This is also the day they found out for sure what had become of James Raganyi, Nicholas James and Michael Dennis. They were all found under David Maust's basement floor. See Notorious 92: Indiana's Most Heinous Murders in All 92 Counties.

Serial killer Bruce Davis -- NOT the Manson Family member, who is still happily in prison passing himself off as a minister with his buddy Tex Watson -- hanged himself in his jail cell. See 50 American Serial Killers You've Probably Never Heard Of: Volume 3.
Charles Collingwood asked for a restroom break from his work detail at prison. He was never seen again. Anywhere. A guard at the prison where he was lodged, John McRae, is thought to be behind the young man's disappearance. When the prison hired him they had no idea McRae was a sex offender with a history of killing young boys. See https://www.criminallyintrigued.com/b...

Paul Fuchs was apparently added to Randy Kraft's scorecard with the notation "EXPLETIVE DELETED" -- a little joke about Paul's surname, I guess. At least that's what the police think. He was last seen in a bar frequented by Kraft with a man who resembled the serial killer. See The Scorecard Killer: The Life of Serial Killer Randy Steven Kraft.

Greg Godzik died not too dissimilarly from what probably happened to Paul. We know for sure that he was found on John WAYNE Gacy's property. I well remember the scene in Killer Clown: The John Wayne Gacy Murders with Greg, an employee of Gacy's, complaining about the smell as he was made to dig a trench in the crawlspace under the house. Gacy explained cheerfully that Greg didn't know it, but he was digging his own grave.

The pattern is broken today by WAYNE Nance, who killed Mike and Teresa Shook in their beds. Amazingly, their 3 children escaped with their lives, but not for want of trying on WAYNE's part. See To Kill and Kill Again: The Terrifying True Story of Montana's Baby-Faced Serial Sex Murderer.

(I'm thrilled to have found a photo of the family at last!)
Another exception was the decapitation murder of Jayatirtha, t/n James Immel, by fellow Hare Krishna Navaniticara, t/n John Tierney. This was supposedly a punishment for adultery but considering all the shady dealings these guys were into, that was probably not the real reason. See Monkey on a Stick: Murder, Madness and the Hare Krishnas.

Jayatirtha

Fishface | 19006 comments 12/13 is the anniversary of the murder of Carrole Ann White by Lawrence Mills III. See https://www.fox2detroit.com/news/woma...

A man named Lieutenant Scott was taken out by a serial killer who had not yet been identified at the time Hunting Humans: The Encyclopedia of Serial Killers, Vol. 2 went to press.
Doreen Carlucci and Joanne Delardo were murdered. It was Robert Zarinsky again. See https://murderpedia.org/male.Z/z/zari...
Liz Lande died at the hands of Bobby Nauss. See https://unsolvedmysteries.fandom.com/.... even though I'm sure I read about this in one of Rose Mandelsberg's TRUE DETECTIVE compliations.

Francis Nemechek apparently decided to up his murder game, killing Diane Lovett and Cheryl and Guy Young all in one blast. See https://murderpedia.org/male.N/n/neme...
Monica Ignas became the latest victim of a killer -- probably several killers -- who have yet to be identified. See Highway of Tears: A True Story of Racism, Indifference and the Pursuit of Justice for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls.

Wyley Gates and his buddy Damien Rossney killed Cheryl Brahm and Robert, Bobby and Jason Gates. See Most Likely to Succeed.
Dorothy Miller died untimely. See under "Maryland" in Hunting Humans: The Encyclopedia of Serial Killers, Vol. 2.
The Widow Chardon and her son were killed by Pierre-Francois Lacenaire and his buddy, Victor Avril, in a crime so notorious it became a novel required in many high-school curricula and created the first celebrity murderer in French history. See Memoirs of Lacenaire and Crime and Punishment.
Marietta Di Girolamo was killed. Art Agnos, the future mayor of San Francisco, was shot as well but he survived. See The Zebra Murders: A Season of Killing, Racial Madness, and Civil Rights.

Fishface | 19006 comments 12/14 is the anniversary of the murder of Mary Glen by Patrick Fyfe. See A Very, Very Ordinary Man: The Story of Serial Killer William Patrick Fyfe.

(Mary is at R)
We also lost Gary Pierre. See The Bayou Strangler: Louisiana’s Most Gruesome Serial Killer.

(I think -- but I am just not sure -- that Gary is second from L in the top row)
Kimberly Martin was taken from us by the Hillside Stranglers. I have been giving that case a rest the past couple of years but her name was totally new to me when I stumbled across her a few mos ago, so here she is even though I am pretty sure she was not mentioned in Two of a Kind: The Hillside Stranglers. If she was in there, she somehow never made it into my Book of the Dead so she is long past due for a memorial here.

Willie Pickton almost certainly killed Leigh Miner. See http://www.missingpeople.net/impendin...
Brad Heyka, Heather Miller, Aaron Sander, Jason Befort, and a dog named Nikki were killed in a mass slaying later known as part of the Wichita Horror. A young woman named Holly G. survived, somehow. See https://www.swordandscale.com/the-wic...
This is also the very unhappy anniversary of the Sandy Hook massacre. Nice freaking theme for 2 weeks before Christmas: mass slaughters. See Newtown: An American Tragedy.

But it's not all bad today: A woman escaped William Choyce alive on this day in 1994. Long may she wave! See Conquering Darkness: Memoir of the Serial Killer's Wife.
And Zachary Turnell also got away alive from a serial killer. See under "John Brooks" in Hunting Humans: The Encyclopedia of Serial Killers, Vol. 2.

Fishface | 19006 comments 12/15, in the home stretch before the biggest holiday of the year, is the day we lost poor Danny Stutzman. He was about 8 when he died but was wearing a onesie, indicating serious regression in a child that age, and so much of his face had been damaged by animals that the reconstructive artwork they did to try to identify him was miles off. In fact, though, nobody was even looking for him. See Abandoned Prayers: The Incredible True Story of Murder, Obsession and Amish Secrets.

(Danny with his killer)
Jerome Dennis killed Robyn Carter. See https://murderpedia.org/male.D/d/denn...

David Bullock killed the unlucky Steven Hasell. See https://archives.law.virginia.edu/den...
Ronald Gray killed Private Laura Vickery. See https://murderpedia.org/male.G/g/gray...
Patricia Thomas was found dead with a blood alcohol level of .51. See The Alcohol Murders: The True Story of Serial Killer Gilbert Paul Jordan.
This is the day Ed Hickman, a divinity student, acted on a daring plan to obtain more money from his boss for tuition. See Stolen Away: The True Story of California's Most Shocking Kidnap-Murder.

Daniel Siebert did away with Nesia McElrath, who had certainly never done anything to hurt him. See https://murderpedia.org/male.S/s/sieb...
Susan LeMahieu died at the hands of a murderer who has never been caught. See Mad City: The True Story of the Campus Murders That America Forgot.

Fishface | 19006 comments 12/15 is the day Mary Ann Carr was found dead in the parking lot of a Quality Inn. See The Torso Killer.

Niels Hoegel, that self-appointed angel of mercy, murdered a woman identified in the press as Magdalena B. as she lay in a hospital bed, expecting him to help her. See Serial Killer Nurse.
Annie Mae Pictou Aquash was murdered by fellow members of the American Indian Movement. At least that's the official story. See http://nativeamericannetroots.net/dia...

Howard Green and Carol Marron were ritually killed in a very puzzling scenario that has never, to my knowledge, been cleared up. See Raising Hell: An Encyclopedia of Devil Worship and Satanic Crime.

A V.N. Soloviev was taken from us by the Chessboard Killer. See Born to Kill in the USSR.
Bobbie Jo Stinnett was murdered in one of the most hideous scenarios imaginable. It was all part of kidnapping her daughter, who was the real target. See Baby Be Mine.

Fishface | 19006 comments 12/17 is the anniversary of the murder of a Ruth W. by good old Niels Hoegel. See Serial Killer Nurse.
We lost Eric Jones, maybe to serial killer James Greenidge. See Cold North Killers: Canadian Serial Murder.
Necole Schneider became the latest victim of Rory Conde, who had apparently never yet gotten over discovering that one of the hookers he hired was a man and apparently thought the best plan to deal with it was to kill as many as he could get his hands on. See Rory Conde, Serial Killer: An anthology of True Crime.

Sandra Bowman lost her life to James Canaday. She was pregnant, by the way. See https://murderpedia.org/male.C/c/cana...

(this photo is being displayed by her husband)
We lost Tony Davies to Peter Moore. See Peter Moore: The Man in Black: Wales' Worst Serial Killer.

(Tony is at lower L)

Fishface | 19006 comments 12/18 is the anniversary of the day Eileen Adams was killed. It took a long time to clear this one up, but an eyewitness finally came forward. See https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/arti...

Myron Lance and Walter Kelbach killed Michael Holtz for no good reason on this earth. See Hunting Humans: The Encyclopedia of Serial Killers: Volume 1.
18-year-old Charlotte Baas and her dog were burned ti death by parties unknown. See Deadmonton: Crime Stories from Canada's Murder City.
On this day in 2000, Georgia Mae Thomas lost her life. See The Grim Sleeper: The Lost Women of South Central.
Suzanne Capper was found wandering with a wide variety of horrific injuries, fresh and partly healed, including severe burns after her killers tossed her in a ditch and set her on fire. She lived long enough in a hospital to give police all the names. See Murder of Suzanne Capper.

And, happy 72nd birthday, Ed Kemper! See Hunting Humans: The Rise of the Modern Multiple Murderer.

Fishface | 19006 comments 12/19 is the anniversary of the terrible day in 1958 when Veronica Murray was found dead at the hands of Michael Dowdall. See The Sex Killers.

We lost whatever B.A. Grishin might have contributed to this world when Alexander Pichushkin committed his latest murder. See Alexander Pichushkin: The Shocking True Story of the Chessboard Killer.
Larry Eyler and his sometime sidekick, Dave Little, brutally murdered the unlucky Steven Agan. See Freed to Kill: The True Story of Larry Eyler.

In another very ugly scenario you can read about in Torture Killers II, we lost the Rabbi Nathan Friedler.
We also lost Cliff, Christine, Jimmy and Debbie Walker on this day in 1959 in what seemed -- and still seems -- like an absolutely random, unmotivated crime. The investigation has never been closed, but from that day to this, no soap. See In Colder Blood.

But it's not 100% tragic. This at least is the day Joe Metheny pleaded guilty to killing Kimberly Spicer, Kathy Magaziner, and Toni Lynn Ingrassia, giving their families that much of an answer. See Murder in Southwest Baltimore: Joe Roy Metheny.

Beatrix Scheible apparently became the latest victim of serial killer Michael Wolpert, who is listed under "Michael Wolter" in Hunting Humans: The Encyclopedia of Serial Killers, Vol. 2. A DNA test done decades later revealed Trixi's true killer to be Jurgen E.:

We also lost Tami Lynne Tinning, tragically young. See From Cradle to Grave: The Short Lives and Strange Deaths of Marybeth Tinning's Nine Children.

Fishface | 19006 comments 12/21 is the anniversary of the day Andre Crawford killed Rhonda King. See Rise of the Black Serial Killer: Documenting a Startling Trend.
We also lost Susan Sternfeld. She was left in a garbage-dumping area, like all of the victims in this series, in a humiliating position so anyone who found her would know how little her killer thought of her. See The Riverside Killer.

A slave named Celia was hanged for killing her owner, Robert Newsome, after he had raped her one too many times and she just couldn't take it any more. See Celia, A Slave.

Eugene Wethey crossed paths with Norbert Poehlke, a police officer. The encounter proved fatal. See Hunting Humans: The Encyclopedia of Serial Killers, Vol. 2.
Marcellino Cupido died at age 9 at the hands of the Station Strangler. See Catch Me a Killer: Serial Murders: A Profiler's True Story.

Fishface | 19006 comments 12/22 is a day of Michigan woe:

It's now 6 whole years since Paige Stalker was killed when some guy wearing camouflage and carrying an assault weapon opened fire on a carful of high schoolers. By now her parents must almost be used to the idea that she's gone. See https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/arti...

Jill Robinson was murdered in a very different scenario on this day in 1976. There have been all kinds of leads generated over the years, but so far, no soap. See https://thetruecrimefiles.com/oakland...

In what must have been a very, very close call, a woman not named in the Detroit papers was run over 3 years ago now by a car driven by Lawrence Mills III. It was not an accident. Amazingly, she and her unborn child survived. See https://www.clickondetroit.com/news/l...

There were other lucky survivors today. John Adams and Ivan Frazier got away alive from Joe Christopher. Luis Rodriguez, Antone Davis, Richard Renner, and a man identified much later as Carl Ramsey were not as fortunate. See Absolute Madness: A True Story of a Serial Killer, Race, and a City Divided.
John Roach was killed after making the horrible mistake of arranging an assignation with Larry Eyler. See Freed to Kill: The True Story of Larry Eyler.
Elma Sands was murdered and pitched down a well on this day in 1799. Norman Dudley died of gross neglect. His parents, Kenneth and Irene, abandoned his body and fled. See Hunting Humans: The Encyclopedia of Serial Killers: Volume 1.
Mary Jane Serloin died violently in Lethbridge, Alberta. Her killer, John Crawford, who died just last week, was only 19 at the time and just getting started on his career as a sex killer. See Just Another Indian: A Serial Killer and Canada's Indifference.
A cabbie named Keith McCallum and a police corporal named Eric Spicer, who was investigating the reported break-in of a car, were gunned down by the same man, Spicer's suspect, who proved later to be Allan McDonald. McCallum was apparently shot because he was a witness to Spicer's murder. See Cold North Killers: Canadian Serial Murder.

Fishface | 19006 comments 12/24 is the anniversary of the unsolved murder of Brian Boothe. See Chase Darkness with Me: How One True-Crime Writer Started Solving Murders.

A man who, as far as I know, has never been identified except as "The Christmas Turkey" turned up dead, headless, mutilated and tied up in ropes. His 1973 murder has been attributed to the Death Angels, but I wonder. It was so unlike the others. See The Zebra Murders: A Season of Killing, Racial Madness, and Civil Rights.
Shirley Lonethunder disappeared from Saskatoon, Sakatchewan. She is thought to be a possible victim of John Crawford. As I mentioned, he just died recently and if he did anything to her, I hope Shirley met him at the gates of Hell in the capacity of Welcome Wagon Lady, along with her sister victims. See Just Another Indian: A Serial Killer and Canada's Indifference.

This is the last night anyone saw Marci Bachman alive. She was a runaway fleeing a terrible home situation, and I'm sorry to report she took shelter with someone worse than her father. See To Kill and Kill Again: The Terrifying True Story of Montana's Baby-Faced Serial Sex Murderer.

Niels Hoegel, up to his usual tricks, killed Theodor Buss. In German the double "s" on the end of his name is one of those giant B-looking things. See Serial Killer Nurse.
Mme. Anna Colomb became Mme. Anna Landru, and that was the last anyone saw of her. See Landru's Secret: The Deadly Seductions of France's Lonely Hearts Serial Killer.

(Anna is at upper L)
Desiree Robinson was killed by Antonio Rosales, the man who had bought her from another man named Joseph Hazely. She has now been gone 4 whole years. See https://chicago.cbslocal.com/2019/06/...

We lost Mercedes Masters to racist multiple murderer Joseph Franklin. See Dark Soul of the South: The Life and Crimes of Racist Killer Joseph Paul Franklin.

This is also the day in 2006 that Amanda Berry gave birth to her kidnapper's daughter, attended only by her fellow teenaged captives. I saw in a movie once that babies born on Christmas grow up to be werewolves. Considering that the poor girl's dad is Ariel Castro, really, I wonder what kind of chances she has in life. See Hope: A Memoir of Survival in Cleveland.

Better than all of these is the anniversary of Betty Lee Hanson's escape from serial killer Ralph Andrews. It was a frighteningly close call. See True Crime Story: I Survived A Monster.

And Charles Kembo did away with Margaret Yeung-Kembo. See Cold North Killers: Canadian Serial Murder.

(OK, now I'm completely confused. This lineup suggests that there is a victim named Margaret and another named Yeung, and they are not the same person. Great.)

But today's theme is lucky escapes! Get a load of this list:

Robert Donnelly got away alive from John WAYNE Gacy. See Buried Dreams: Inside the Mind of a Serial Killer.
