Hi, Kristi,

You're definitely in the right place.

Jenny | 1 comments Hi, my name is Jenny and I love to read all genres. I just discovered this group and am excited to connect with others who love to read as much (or more!) than I do. Right now, I'm wondering if anyone can recommend clean alternatives to the likes of Poldark or Outlander?

message 858: by Michelle (new)

Michelle | 622 comments Perhaps The Rose and the Thistle by Laura Frantz A Bound Heart by Laura Frantz and The King's Mercy by Lori Benton . If you like time slips try Gabriel Meyer's series Timeless: When the Day Comes (Timeless, #1) by Gabrielle Meyer In This Moment (Timeless, #2) by Gabrielle Meyer For a Lifetime (Timeless, #3) by Gabrielle Meyer Across the Ages (Timeless, #4) by Gabrielle Meyer Every Hour until Then (Timeless, #5) by Gabrielle Meyer

Welcome, Jenny! Kelsey Bryant wrote a Scottish story that might fit the bill, though it's contemporary. It's found in Novelists in November by Kellyn Roth . (My mom, Faith D. Cox, and I also wrote stories in this anthology.)

Azalea Dabill (azaleadabill) | 9 comments Hi, I'm Azalea. I'm also a Christian and a YA Historical Fantasy author.

My favorite YA book right now is Jonathan Renshaw's Dawn of Wonder, The Wakening book 1. One of my favorite authors is CJ Brightley and her Erdemen Honor series.

I'm looking forward to reading Kyrie Wang's The Healer's Blade this year, and Kathryn Jordan's The Wolf Warden. I'd like to find more good books like these, of the historical or fantasy flavor, though fantasy is my go to.

Thanks,
Azalea Dabill

Welcome, Oliver! The answer to your questions is 'yes'. Simply put, this has become a place for Christians to come and discuss Christian fiction. That said, for the various challenges you'll find in this group, clean fiction and non fiction books 'count' as well as the specifically Christian fiction.
Hopefully that clarifies things instead of makes them more muddled? 🙂

Dawn Swinnie Lumene | 2 comments Hello! I just joined this group. I want to finish 35 books this year. Currently reading “If I’m Found” by Teri Blackstock and “The Last Christian” by David Gregory. Christian suspense and futuristic Christian content. Both are pretty new genres for me as I’m usually more into Christian romance. Trying to branch but stay within the Christian realm m. I like my books clean lol

message 866: by Hunter (new)

Hunter H. Treasures of the Lochs
Please consider Treasures of the Lochs. This is suspenseful YA Christian fiction, involving a modern-day treasure hunt in Scotland, with a bit of supernatural thrown in. Blending historical fact and Scottish legend within an action-packed adventure, Treasures of the Lochs is an exciting, powerful story of faith, friendship, and redemption. The target audience is teenage and above (some parts would be too intense for younger readers). This book is a 2024 NIEA Finalist in Religion Fiction. It also hit Amazon#1 New Release for Christian Fantasy. I hope you’ll check it out.

I'm not familiar with Outlander, but have watched/listened to some of Poldark. This one is more closely related to Downton Abbey, but one to consider...The Ladies of Roderick Glen by Kristie Self. The first in the series is The Piano Teacher.

Sydney, I don't read a lot of fantasy, so I can't help much with that one. These are some of my favorite romance novels:
Short-Straw Bride (Archer Brothers, #1) by Karen Witemeyer Not by Sight by Kate Breslin The Lady and the Lionheart by Joanne Bischof Shine Like the Dawn by Carrie Turansky Chasing Hope by Kathryn Cushman A Season to Love (Love in Lenox, #2) by Nicole Deese Finding Lady Enderly by Joanna Davidson Politano Until Leaves Fall in Paris by Sarah Sundin You Belong with Me (Restoring Heritage, #1) by Tari Faris

Pastor Usman | 1 comments Hello, CFD Family!

I’m excited to be part of this wonderful group of Christian fiction lovers! 🙌 I’m Pastor Usman Raza from Second Adam Church, and I have a deep passion for faith-based books—both reading and discussing them. I love how Christian fiction can inspire, uplift, and draw us closer to God through storytelling.

Some of my favorite Christian fiction authors include: Karen Kingsbury. I’d love to hear your recommendations too! What’s a recent Christian fiction book that touched your heart?

Looking forward to engaging in meaningful discussions with you all! Blessings! ✨📖

Hello! I've read one of Karen Kingsbury's books (Best Family Ever) and am planning to read the rest of the series some day. I love her too!
I have a Christian fiction author recommendation: Madisyn Carlin.

Thanks for sharing about yourself.

message 890: by Kari (new)

Kari | 13 comments Hi everyone. I'm Kari Hyden and I hail from the Pacific Northwest. I have always been an avid reader, and I have been enjoying Christian fiction for a long time. The first Christian books I read were the O'Malley series by Dee Henderson. I am a fan of Karen Kingsbury's Baxter series, as well. I am part of a local in-person book club, and they have gotten me hooked on some excellent historical fiction authors. It has taken me out of my comfort zone, expanding on different genres. I am looking forward to being a part of this CFD family.

Luke 3:15-17 (English Standard Version): 15 As the people were in expectation, and all were questioning in their hearts concerning John, whether he might be the Christ, 16 John answered them all, saying, “I baptize you with water, but he who is mightier than I is coming, the strap of whose sandals I am not worthy to untie. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire. 17 His winnowing fork is in his hand, to clear his threshing floor and to gather the wheat into his barn, but the chaff he will burn with unquenchable fire.”

Clark Larsen | 2 comments Hello!

My name is Clark Larsen and I live in Tooele, Utah! I enjoy wholesome, positive books. My wife and I have a little boy who loves kid's books, especially ones featuring characters from Sesame Street.

I should say I am also an author. You can message me if you'd like to know about the novel I have written, as well as the one I am currently working on.

message 899: by Marissa (new)

Marissa McHale | 1 comments Hello everyone!
My name is Marissa and I love Jesus! My favorite hobby is as follows: reading a great book at night while drinking black tea while piano instrumental music plays in the background. I’m a hopeless romantic… maybe a little embarrassing to admit. However, after years of sifting through different books from different authors, I was on the pursuit for CLEAN Christian romance. You know.. the good old fashioned love stories with no sex scenes where it’s apparent God is at work in the couple’s relationship. I have loved Karen Kingsbury novels for years now. However, after reading “Redeeming Love”, I have more recently become a fan of Francine Rivers’ writing even more so. I feel I resonate with it. Some great suggestions I have from her are listed in my bookshelf such as “The Lady’s Mine” and “The Masterpiece”. I am currently reading “A Voice in the Wind” so I’m excited to share my thoughts afterwards! If you have any great book suggestions, let me know! Anyway, thanks for letting me join this group! Happy to be here. :)

God bless and warm regards,
Marissa
