Redeeming Love by Francine Rivers is one of her best books. It is based on the story of Hosea and Gomer in the Bible. You will be blessed by its message of redemption.

Karen Burkhardt Smith | 27 comments I am so glad I found this group! I started 2023 wanting to read more so I joined this group. I had to renew my library card that I have not used in many years. I have met my goal of reading 1 book each month. The books I have read are not ones that I would have picked, however I have thoroughly enjoyed each and every one! Thank you to the organizers of the group and to the participants that make the discussion fun!

Eric Thompson | 8 comments Hello! Glad to have found this forum. I'm a new author and long time reader. A bit about me...

I grew up in a tiny town in Oregon. My dad moved to another state and I was raised by a single, immigrant mother who had no college degree. Her courage to break cycles in her family coupled with generosity from our church community has shaped who I am today and why I'm passionate about making a difference in my communities and about noticing people who need a little love or help.

Thanks for letting me be here and I look forward to getting to know some folks and to finding great stories!

Kami Mauldin | 1 comments Hello! My name is Kami and I read a lot!! Working and parenting get in the way of my reading! I love Jesus and have a a real hard time finding books in a fantasy genre that are clean and smut-less. I really like knowing what’s in my kiddo’s books too, so I’m always on the hunt for book review resources. I’m glad I stumbled across this group! I’m just learning about groups on Goodreads! Excited for all the book recommendations!

Robin Hunt | 1 comments LOOKING FOR REVIEWERS!

My husband and I fostered 43 kids and I taught for 19 years. I wrote a book to help raise awareness of what it's like for foster kids and foster parents. It offers practical tips and support for families and anyone who has kids in their lives.

The reoccurring theme in our story is that, "Our help comes from the Lord." Ps 121:2a.

I've been told it's a quick read and an even better listen (I read the audiobook).

Please message me if you would like me to send you a print copy. I would appreciate an honest review.

I LOVE that. Thank you so much for loving those who needed it! That totally relates to the book I just published (I was taken into peoples' homes and provided for and it changed my life.)

I'd love to read it and provide feedback. Will message you. Thanks for your love for those in need. It's world changing!

My go-to for suspense/thriller is Lynette Eason, but hers are contemporary.

Have you read any of Cathy Gohlke’s WWII books? They’re not easy, but they are good, and they generally have a good thread of mystery and suspense about them. Here are a couple of my favorites.
Saving Amelie by Cathy Gohlke Until We Find Home by Cathy Gohlke Secrets She Kept by Cathy Gohlke

message 630: by Christopher (new)

Christopher Peter | 5 comments Hello, I'm Chris; I'm an author but first and foremost a Christian who loves good fiction. I'm particularly interested in contemporary Christian-inspired fiction - something we're a little short of here in the UK. I've read many "secular" books with "spiritual" content, that nevertheless somehow avoid even mentioning God, or when they do it tends to be in a disparaging or dismissive way. So, any recommendations are very welcome!

message 631: by Amber (new)

Amber (amberlovestoread) | 22 comments Welcome, Chris!

Other than Christian, is there any specific genre you prefer (mystery/suspense, romance, science fiction, etc)? That would be helpful as there is a lot of variety in the Christian fiction market!

message 632: by Christopher (new)

Christopher Peter | 5 comments Hi Amber. My tastes are pretty diverse - probably not so much romance, but certainly mystery/suspense/thriller, sci-fi and modern / literary fiction I'd always give a go. Also - although I like novels, I particularly enjoy short fiction, short stories and novellas. Certainly I always hesitate before tackling anything much above 400-500 pages (which I find can exclude quite a lot of fantasy, as those books can be very long - though I do like Lord of the Rings).

message 633: by Amber (new)

Amber (amberlovestoread) | 22 comments I don’t read many novellas or short stories, but one of my favorite authors is Joel C. Rosenberg. If you haven’t read any of his stuff, I highly suggest it.

Nancy Mehl might be another good one for you. She writes mystery and suspense. I love CC Warrens as well - her Holly series has awesome character development. I enjoyed Rachel Dylan’s books, especially the Windy Ridge series (some of the others are romantic suspense).

Im sure others will have some suggestions as well.

message 634: by Christopher (new)

Christopher Peter | 5 comments Thanks for the suggestions, I'll take a look.

Sarah Hanks | 8 comments Hello! I've been a minimalist on GR (only using it to track what books I've read and want to read) but just found out about all that you can do on here. I had no idea there were groups like this to connect with other readers. So, here I am! I love a lot of Christian fiction including split-time, historical, and rom-com. I only wish I could read faster!

Emily Hall | 2 comments Becoming Lottie Moon

Hello! What a fun group. I can’t wait to dive in and try all the recommendations 📚 I’m Emily Hall, author of Becoming Lottie Moon, an Amazon #1 New Release for teen Christian historical fiction. After years of researching the famed 19th century missionary to China, I am thrilled to share Lottie’s coming of age story in antebellum Virginia. I learned that Lottie was quite rebellious as a child and hated going to church. How did a girl like that grow up to become one of history’s most famous missionaries? Find out in Becoming Lottie Moon. (EmilyHallBooks.com) To try a sample of my writing style, you can subscribe to my email newsletter and get a free prequel short story to Becoming Lottie Moon! (EmilyHallBooks.com). Thanks all!
