Liquorice (liquoricedoggie) | 14 comments My current goal is 24 books, or 1 book every fortnight. I have not planned a full list yet, so it's mostly blank spaces.

1. The Secret History by Donna Tartt
2 - 24. Currently unplanned

Current progress: 0/24

Liquorice (liquoricedoggie) | 14 comments Day 1
40 pages read today so I am on track to finish the secret history by day 16.

Very much enjoying the book - and the challenge - so far, I'm definitely going to have to read some of the classics mentioned inside it. The only ancient Greek classic I've read is antigone, which is also one of my favourite plays.

Liquorice (liquoricedoggie) | 14 comments Still loving the secret history so far, I'm finding myself just as fascinated as Richard with the Greek students. Camilla is my favourite at the moment ( I can feel myself falling for her too to be honest ). The language is beautiful, but not in a way that detracts from me being able to read it.

Liquorice (liquoricedoggie) | 14 comments First book finished ! Really enjoyed the secret history, even if the plot was rather depressing, the writing is just beautiful enough to be able to power on through without being monotonous or too flowery. Definitely going to pick something a bit cheerier for book 2 however.

Liquorice (liquoricedoggie) | 14 comments 2nd book started, reading John Dies at the End by David Wong (Jason Pargin), fun change of pace and genre.

Liquorice (liquoricedoggie) | 14 comments In an attempt to get back into the swing of reading, I re read the pillowman by Martin McDonagh - which I haven't read since I did the costume on it for our college production in 2018. I still thought it was good, though I cant tell whether I think it's a sharp and witty black comedy, or whether I find the portrayal of it's subject matter a little too gruesome. Was definitely worth the re read though, Tupolski is still as ridiculously quotable as I found him the first readthrough.

Liquorice (liquoricedoggie) | 14 comments Also got started on Emma by Jane Austen. I can't believe I'm finding a 200+ year old book so much fun to read; it's hilarious.
