Saar The Book owl | 2647 comments I've got a mail that my order from Bookdepository is delayed due to the restrictions in the UK. I've got books enough and won't stress about it ;)

Rusalka (rusalkii) | 19202 comments I've got a fence and we built a chicken coop. We were only an hour late to family Christmas as we had to concrete it in before we left. But the girls survived their first night in the coop and we can go on holidays now.

Lexx and I didn't get divorced (close) and we had to call in the Knight in Shining Fluro (my tradie brother) for a day of constructing. Everything that could have gone wrong did. The house smells like a farmyard after having 4 chickens sleeping in it for 30+ days.

But I do not care. HOLIDAYS!

Thanks for this update Rusalka. I was wondering how the fence saga ended. Btw - great chook pen!

Sandra (sanlema) | 11257 comments Merry Christmas to those who are celebrating!

We had a nice Christmas Eve, and a wonderful Christmas lunch. We are heading now to church to see the manger. We decided not to attend mass this year, for obvious reasons, but now that we know masses are done for the day we want to go see the life sized manger our church puts outside every year. My kids love it. You can even hug a sheep if you can't resist yourself. And you know, someone has to check that baby Jesus is actually there...

message 2612: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 59850 comments Merry Christmas everyone!

I think it would be hard to not hug the sheep. :)

message 2613: by Jayme, Moderator (last edited Dec 25, 2020 12:57PM) (new)

Jayme | 4510 comments Merry Christmas to all who are celebrating.
And Sandra I think sheep hugging should be a requirement!!

We also had a nice Christmas Eve. Usually I'm back home in a small town in Minnesota where we attend Christmas Eve service where it is spoken in Norwegian (I don't speak Norwegian and I never know what they are saying, but it makes my stepfather happy that we are all there worshipping with him at his church). This year we watched the Harvard Christmas Choral Service via live stream. It was beautiful and then we watched favorite Christmas movies via Netflix.
Christmas morning was presents and phone calls and eggnog and cookies - just Henry and I and a couple of naughty kittens who think my Christmas tree is a jungle gym. Now I'm off to make lasagna.
I hope Santa brought what your heart needs and that love and hope filled your stocking.

message 2614: by Sandra, Moderator (new)

Sandra (sanlema) | 11257 comments The sheep were super "huggable". The donkey was the favorite this year, though. And the first comments had nothing to do with baby Jesus, but about the shepherds not being 6 feet apart...

Rusalka (rusalkii) | 19202 comments Merry Christmas everyone! we made it down the coast and spent the evening with Lexx's brother and sister who we haven't seen since last year. Can't remember if I said earlier but due to fires (the bushfires you all saw on the news stopped at the end of their street last year) and pandemic, we just haven't been able to catch up. So we stayed up to 3.30am solving the world's problems and I'm nursing a coffee at midday on Boxing Day to recover lol

Janice (jamasc) | 59850 comments I'm glad you're able to finally catch up with your family, Rus. Was the coffee spiked?

message 2621: by Shirley (new)

Shirley | 1505 comments Happy holidays everyone. Catching up with family (if possible) is extra special this year. Hugs to everyone who can’t see close family because of COVID. We drove 4 hours to a family gathering at my niece’s new place, a 2000 acre cattle property near the family farm where I grew up. Thirty-five people, adults and children, around a long table on the verandah looking out on the Aussie bush. Very special. Let’s hope everyone in the World can get back to this kind of normal as soon as possible. (And that it continues for us as well.)

Sarah | 18549 comments Merry Christmas everyone. Slightly delayed I know. Love the chiicken coop Rusalka.

Sounds like youv'e all had nice days. We chatted with my parents on Skype christmas eve and we spent tume making suree the boat was tidy and we were stocked up for the holidays with wood etc especially as we have storms (wind and rain) and we're due some colder weather this week. Yesterdaay our neighbour who is in a bubble with us cqme over for christmas dinner. Ate too much then went for a walk. Lovely sunset. Our cat Beqns followed us but then he wouldn't follow us back so we had a nightmqre of a time trying to get him out from behind some bushes and back to the boat. Cats! I did get to try out my new head torch though that Rob bought me. Once beans was safely back in the boat, we resumed our festivities. It was a nice day.

Eating too much I can sure relate to! I love hearing about what everyone is doing for the holidays. Our world really is very connected especially through YLTO- much better than Facebook IMO

Peggy (pebbles84) | 15868 comments Inspired by Sarah's watercolour drawings, I decided I want to be able to do that too. But, as I'm really bad at drawing (I still give the sun a smiley face whenever I draw one, and when I was in high school it happened more than once that my arts teacher took my drawing away and took over), I figured I should start at the basics.

I found a free online tutorial which explains things step by step and gives you little assignments. I'm only at lesson 2, but this is so enjoyable! Just with 2 lessons I'm already making drawings I never thought I could manage (it's not like they're difficult, just that I never thought I could do even that). I'm impressed with myself, lol! For one drawing I used a pic Rob took in Iceland, and when I showed Rob the drawing he immediately recognized it.
