Apparently noone is cancelling during lockdown 2.0. In 1.0 all pain procedures were cancelled (along with many more serious thinys that normally go on in hospitals) so it's close to 100% take up.

All went better than expected today with my uncle. It's inoperable but they propose chemo plus radiation so they left him with hope. It isn't secondry cancer. Apparantly 20% of mouth cancer patients go on to develop this type of lung cancer. It sounds like there'll be a lot of hospital trips so I may go off the rader for a bit but I'll be back. You guys are great at taking my mind off things. I need more YLTO laughs than ever!

Cherie (crobins0) | 21536 comments I talk to myself too, while I am working.
Last Thursday, I was muttering to myself while I was working on a problem being displayed on my external monitor and waiting for someone to join my meeting that was displayed on my laptop screen. I did not realize that my mike was not on mute, until the guy started laughing. He had joined and was listening to me talk to myself. He thought it was pretty funny.

Cherie, it seems a mike have this way of not being on mute when it should be and to be on mute when you speak (and you are sure it is unmuted)

Shirley | 1505 comments Cherie, that made me laugh.
Margo, all the best for your treatment, and for your uncle as well. Where there's life, there's hope.

At last I have found the time to scroll through some of the discussions. A lot of time lately has been spent at the hospital. My husband is having an operation next week to insert a stent to repair a tear and bleeding inside the wall of the aorta. He suffered severe chest pains last week and I had to ring the ambulance. What stress that was!

Renee (elenarenee) | 1650 comments That's wonderful new Shirly

I have been battling insurance again. I take some meds for my atypical lupus that they are trying to not cover. I go through this every time someone new takes over my case. The notes as to why i have the meds are in their files. I just need to make them read their notes. It usually take 10 or more phone calls. The wait is longer right now. It makes me insane. I wish they would get some decent hold music.

Roz | 4529 comments Happy Thanksgiving to everyone celebrating today. We usually had our kids with families and girlfriends for the entire week. Not this year. My Texas group is staying put and my son in Brooklyn is too. It's just not worth risking anyone's health. It'll make next year all the more happy. Even so, my husband got a turkey (small) and we'll have all the trimmings for days to come, I'm sure. We have a Zoom meet with some of my husband's family and I have to come up with something to be thankful for this year. I'm going with "a renewed respect for breathing".

Your immediate family alone probably reaches the limit of the number of people that can congregate in one place. Enjoy the day.

Sarah | 18550 comments Rob's doing a drone job today and he's listed me as crew so I get to go with him. It's a beautiful sunny day today so it will be nice to get out and about. I'm really noticing the difference this lockdown now it is colder weather. I'm definitly not leaving the boat as much and need to make more of an effort to do so.

I made polenta fries last night from scratch for the first time. I was very happy with how it all turned out. I don't have the best track record with polenta but this has made up for it. I guess i just needed a good recipe for the polenta base.

Rusalka (rusalkii) | 19204 comments Happy thanksgiving you guys! I love the meals on wheels idea, Cherie. Sorry that every ones having a new, 2020, experience of it.

I've had hits and misses with polenta fries Sarah. Glad yours worked out!

Shirley, I missed your update about Greg's surgery. Hope he's still doing well!

message 2492: by Rusalka, Moderator (new)

Rusalka (rusalkii) | 19204 comments Lexx and I have spent the past three days ripping down a chicken coop, and then pulling out 20m of ivy, multiple bushes and the like, and then Lexx's nemesis, the 10m high tree that we discovered at 5pm tonight had grown through concrete.

The fencers are coming at 7am tomorrow to help with the last two stumps/nemesis tree, and then replacing the whole back fence. I think we may collapse in a heap on Sunday. But then have to build a new chook pen post haste, as we are up to day 3 of the girls living in the study which was cuter when they were tiny but now they are 4 grown hens... it's stinky.

I have photos but my brain is so dead I can't remember how to do all that thing.

I have the same track record. If you can share that recipe with me, could you please?

message 2495: by Kristie, Moderator (new)

Kristie | 19139 comments That's so sweet, Cherie.

Sarah, good that you could get out. I think being stuck inside makes it more difficult. I tend to stay indoors too and have to make an effort to get out even if it's just to walk the dogs.

That is not my idea of fun, Rusalka. I'm sure you'll be glad to have it done and your ladies will love their new pen.

message 2496: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 59889 comments That sounds rather fun, being a drone co-pilot! There have been some fascinating pictures online taken by drones. I've never tried polenta fries.

Rusulka, I had to chuckle about you not changing your day jobs.

Yeah drone footage is pretty impressive. It was overcast unfortunately so not sure how the photos will come out. It started off so nice for the first filming job. The weather changed so quickly.

Cherie (crobins0) | 21536 comments Sarah - your polenta fries sound good. I love polenta!

Rusalka - I agree about keeping your day job! Chooks in the study??? My daughter in California had hers on the front porch when they were building her chicken shed. (No back porch to enclose.). Quite the conversation piece for visitors.
