Ooooohhhh... I am not going to go into this in this thread, but I have a very long list."

lol! Me too, but I didn't want to get into here either.

Update: Biden has taken the lead in Georgia and Pennsylvania.

I expect that we will not know the final official results of the election for a while because there will be recounts and Trump may contest some of the results. We will see. I'm really hoping that we at least hear soon (tomorrow) who has won, then they can do whatever recounts, etc are needed to confirm.

Sandra, I think that was my point. The world was waiting for him him to nuke someone but it didn't happen. Apart from a lot of hot air, divisive comments and general boorishness it hasn't been too bad - from the outside he has provided entertainment! I don't what, if any, economic impact his policies have had beyond the norm for a Republican government.

It is an indictment of situation though that your son is checking the news.

Yes and the Trump campaign has already released a statement that they will contest the election, so even once the results are released we will still have to wait for recounts, investigations, and a final confirmation.

Sarah | 18550 comments Thanks guys. I'm feeling less ill which is good. Sleeping better which is a massive relief. A bit achey today from coughing a lot last night. With the negative result, we went out to pick up some supplies and get some fresh air.

message 2363: by Travis (new)

Travis (travistousant) | 6011 comments I've gotten bored with the election but I did like how trump praised the wins of republicans in the house and keeping the Senate and in the same breath goes about election fraud.
Everyone votes on the same paper how is it the presidential spot is tampered with yet the Senate and house races are good?
Oops sorry that was me using common sense.
I did listen to the court hearing for Michigan. I'm not sure if Trump's lawyer or the judge was more confused why he was there

Well Michigan was supposed to have cameras on drop boxes

Judge. Ok you want cameras on drop boxes?

We want the law Michigan made followed

Ok so I guess you want me to ignore the fact the Dropbox has been picked up and all the votes are counted and you want me to rule that cameras need to monitor the boxes that are done being used?

We want fair voting and counting like every American and the cameras were supposed to be there so we could request to look at them and now we can't review the film.

Judge is finally like I'm not sure what you want me to do but from what I gather this is your request... And it's denied. Lol

Meanwhile trump goes on about substantial evidence to election tampering

Ok well for someone with overwhelming evidence I'm not sure why your lawyer didn't take any in front of the judge. He hardly had answers for her questions because he knows they have no case and it's kind of just making him look like a fool

message 2364: by Travis (new)

Travis (travistousant) | 6011 comments And of course the other thing. If your going to steal an election why would you allow the Senate to be republican wouldn't you also steal that. A Biden win with republican Senate leaves him able to accomplish very little. That's why the markets are going up because they won't get regulatory or tax stuff passed at least for 2 years and then only if Dems control Senate

Just makes no sense to steal an election and not grab the trifecta of power

I guess he plans to damage democracy until the last minute...

message 2366: by Roz (new)

Roz | 4529 comments Travis, Trump looking like a fool isn't difficult. He does that all by himself. I was watching CNN and they were saying how he needs to be reminded how he did a good job and losing can be part of the deal when you run for president, but that he did well "stroke, stroke". What, do we have to treat him like a toddler being talked down from a tantrum? I guess so. I'm waiting for him to start jumping up and down, foaming at the mouth. I've had enough. Perhaps to someone who got to see him from far away, like another country, his antics were entertaining or just bizarrely inappropriate, but to me, the president is the face of America to the rest of the world, and I deserve a better face. Done with my rant, for now.

Peggy (pebbles84) | 15868 comments Work and the world made me feel a bit stressed, overwhelmed and down last week, so I've decided to turn today into a Self-care Saturday. I'm feeling more relaxed already!

Except for clearing out the diswasher and doing one load of laundry, I'm not going to do any chores. I'll just do things I feel like doing and that make me happy. The weather is beautiful today (sunny and it will be 17C in the afternoon!), so I'll go for a walk soon (sunny and 7C now), and afterwards read (maybe even outside in the sun) or crochet or do some colouring or make soup. I might even go really crazy and watch a feelgood movie on Netflix.

Sandra (sanlema) | 11260 comments He is playing golf right now. Hopefully that will relax him. :/

message 2382: by Kristie, Moderator (new)

Kristie | 19139 comments I think it will be a while before everything is confirmed and finalized. I'm just glad we have reached the point where it is finally being called so we can start moving forward. I'm sure there will be recounts and lawsuits. It's sad that he's claiming fraud instead of being gracious, but we expected this from him. He is only the fourth president to lose reelection and the other 3 all graciously conceded when the time came even though they were disappointed.

I think the states have until some time in December to process any claims, recounts etc. I'm really hoping this doesn't get even more out of hand with him trying to appeal to the Supreme Court to override the election results. It's really embarrassing.

I really don't know what he will do since I've heard the word unprecedented associated with Trump more than anyone in my entire life. I am hopeful that he will put in his requests for recounts and file his lawsuits, then the recounts will turn out accurate and the lawsuits will be dismissed since he has no evidence or anything to base his claims on. After that, I hope he will finally concede.

There is already rumor spreading of a 2024 run from Trump. I really hope the Republican party can find a better candidate and it's not Trump or any of his family members. There is, of course, also rumor spreading of of his potential arrest due to legal cases waiting for him when he leaves office. So who knows...

Kristie | 19139 comments Sandra wrote: "He is playing golf right now. Hopefully that will relax him. :/"

Is he really?! lol Hopefully so. Maybe he'll do some thinking about it while he's out there and just concede. Then life can go back to normal.

message 2384: by Sandra, Moderator (new)

Sandra (sanlema) | 11260 comments To be completely honest, I doubt Biden will be such a a great president. I just think that Trump's speech was way too damaging and had to stop. I hope the next 4 years are healing and constructive. Praying for it.

Janice (jamasc) | 59889 comments Gracious is not a word I would associate with Trump.

message 2386: by Travis (new)

Travis (travistousant) | 6011 comments There's plenty of things I would have to be concerned with both Biden and Harris but at the same time you're only as good of a leader as who you surround yourself with. We haven't seen cabinet or advisors yet OR if he actually listens. We just had a guy who surrounded himself with yes men

But as trump fans have been saying it's policy over personality well, actually his personality had to get out of here. We need a leader with diplomacy. We need a leader who doesn't allow his followers to have this white supremacy sense of empowerment and go around just generally being nasty and speaking their mind to whoever. A lot of people's true colors have come out

And for policy over personality well if he'd curbed the personality a bit and the toxicity he would have easily won reelection. Not everything he did was good but the policy towards businesses and taxes and the economy and how people's retirement funds have boomed that would have had him a landslide victory if he wasn't toxic

I don't know if anyone knows Joe bidens policy plans and what did Biden run on kindness. And the message of kindness and unity and being one country that really set home with people. So no it's not policy over personality. You can't just be a rotten person with no consequence

Rusalka (rusalkii) | 19205 comments I am so happy for you all. If nothing else, you have an answer!

I saw bits of both Biden's and Harris' speeches today. I was impressed, but as someone observed - today was a win for full sentences lol. We are starting with a low bar. But things I am hearing, like Biden talking about appointing a public school teacher to lead the Dept of Education, I am hopeful. I don't think he's going to be perfect. But someone a little dull who listens to experts and takes advice, and tries to heal some of your divisions, as an outsider, sounds like something you guys need for a bit.

The Four Seasons cock up is going to keep me laughing for a long time though. His presidency ending with a press conference in a landscaping supplies store carpark surrounded by bobcats and cement, with Fantasy Island Adult "Bookstore" on one side, and the Delaware Valley Crematorium on the other... I mean... You just could not write this stuff.

message 2388: by Sandra, Moderator (last edited Nov 08, 2020 07:00AM) (new)

Sandra (sanlema) | 11260 comments Travis, I agree. I think this election ended being about Trump's toxicity, and we didn't hear policies from any of the candidates. This was particularly clear during the first debate. We'll see what is coming.

message 2389: by Kristie, Moderator (new)

Kristie | 19139 comments Rusalka wrote: "...today was a win for full sentences lol. We are starting with a low bar. "

I laughed out loud at this! It is so true. I've said many times that I can't wait to have a president that can speak in complete sentences again.

I am happy with boring! I will be thrilled to not wake up every morning to some news about what was signed, tweeted, done, etc while I slept or was distracted by other outrageous news.

Travis (travistousant) | 6011 comments So because I don't always think. I went to bed at 345 and got up at 500 yesterday morning. naturally when that 2:00 feeling came around i felt it. at 430 I said I need a nap. My daughter is on the couch watching tv I say I'm going to take a nap. Which part of the couch do you want me. ok which end do you want my head ok. do you want to share the blanket. ok. Now in my mind theres nothing more to cover I should be able to successfully take a nap without interuption. So I lay down, zonk out. I can basically fall asleep on demand at anytime because I always forget to go to bed at night. I sleep maybe half an hour and i am awaked by a presence leaning over me nudging me saying hey daddy. I think to myself no way I already need to go to the barn but I lift m;y head a little and i say either what or huh in a half awake voice. well when my mouth opens something gets crammed into my mouth. Now when I lay down I knew there was homemade granola bars in the oven but did not give this a thought. Yes if you have by now guessed I was woke up and when i said huh my daughter shoved a granola bar in my mouth and said I brought you a fresh homemade granola bar isn't it good.
Well after I got done yelling and whooping her behind, lol

of course i didn't yell and whoop her i ate the granola bar said it was delicious and thank you for getting it for me and rolled back over and finished my damn nap

kids. who just wakes someone and shoves a granola bar in their old man's mouth

Cherie (crobins0) | 21536 comments You are lucky, Travis. At least it wasn’t a hairy, linty, already sucked on gobstopper that your daughter pulled out of her pocket and dropped into your mouth to surprise you with. That is what I got from my youngest one afternoon when I was laying on the couch half asleep. She said “Mommy, open yours mouf”. So, I did. It took about ten seconds to register before I sat up and spit it out in my hand. She said, “I saved it for you.”
