Blinds remained closed this morning Sandra!

Excellent idea except I may actually ask him to keep the blinds open lol!!

Before we had our bathroom re-done, we didn't have a blind just cotswold glass and the husband had said to me not to worry that no one could see in. I didn't believe him and waited for him to take a shower, went outside and although you couldn't really see anything there was definitely an outline. We got a blind fitted not long after lol.

I wonder what it is like to have no body hangups? Being comfortable in your own skin must be very freeing. Perhaps my neighbour is a closet naturist?!

Perhaps their roof leaks or maybe they wash their floors all the time?

The Hardenbergias look beautiful!

message 1957: by [deleted user] (new)

With all advice taken into consideration and the possibility that he could be a naturist, I am going to leave the blinds closed or sit with my back to the window if necessary.

In other news, it is raining today.

Option, Katie?

Kristie | 19155 comments Is anyone else having issues with their notifications today? I haven't gotten a single notification all day and had to go checking on threads.

Esther (nyctale) | 5194 comments Kristie wrote: "Is anyone else having issues with their notifications today? I haven't gotten a single notification all day and had to go checking on threads."

Yes. I have received none but I should have gotten a few.

Thanks, Esther. They must be having an issue. At least I know it's not on my end.

message 1962: by Rusalka, Moderator (new)

Rusalka (rusalkii) | 19206 comments I haven't got any, and all my ones from last night have deleted themselves. My last one was 20 hours ago, and I was definitely receiving new ones 9 hours ago before I went to bed.

message 1963: by Sandra, Moderator (new)

Sandra (sanlema) | 11264 comments Same here. Not a single notification since Saturday morning. I haven't noticed previous ones deleting themselves, though.

message 1964: by Kristie, Moderator (new)

Kristie | 19155 comments I'm surprised they haven't fixed it yet. My newest notification says 1 day ago. I wonder if they'll get it fixed today or if it will have to wait for Monday? It's very frustrating.

message 1965: by Rusalka, Moderator (new)

Rusalka (rusalkii) | 19206 comments Still borked over here, and the newer notifications I saw last night haven't reappeared yet.

message 1966: by Peggy (new)

Peggy (pebbles84) | 15868 comments I only noticed it now, and that means I'm way behind on all my threads. It seemed strangely quiet here, now I know why..

message 1967: by Sandra, Moderator (new)

Sandra (sanlema) | 11264 comments Yes, It was weirdly quite. I have to admit that I had a lot of reading done yesterday without the distraction. :D

message 1968: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 59911 comments I read somewhere else -

"Goodreads has temporarily turned off email notifications, in-app notifications, and push notifications... include when you receive a new message from a Goodreads member, new friend additions, new followers, new group additions, and any other event, comment, or activity notifications you've signed up to receive in your Account Settings. We're working on bringing these back soon."

I don't use notifications personally. I use the "unread topics" and click on the red "new" link.

message 1969: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 18550 comments I do the same as you Janice. Notifications annoy me so I just look at the unread topics when i log in.

message 1970: by Sandra, Moderator (new)

Sandra (sanlema) | 11264 comments I use the notifications because they work for me, but also because it is the best way if you are using the app. It is annoying having to go to every group and every folder to find the new comments (in the app) so I'm just checking the most popular. I miss my computer.

message 1971: by Esther (new)

Esther (nyctale) | 5194 comments Sarah wrote: "I do the same as you Janice. Notifications annoy me so I just look at the unread topics when i log in."

I only use notification when I do not want to miss a reply on a specific thread, like a buddy read. There is so many threads wirth unread posts sometimes that some would go unnoticed for days.

message 1972: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 59911 comments I do the same, Esther. One that I specifically follow is the WoF name request thread. I use to when posting badges, so new messages are scrubbed. This way I don't miss them.

@Sandra, I thought there was an unread folder on the app as well.

message 1973: by Kristie, Moderator (new)

Kristie | 19155 comments I also use notifications all the time. I never use "unread topics" because I'm in several groups and there are plenty of threads that I don't follow. That would be clogged up with a lot of unread threads that I don't care about. I don't even know where it is online. Is it under "my group discussions"? I am currently going from group to group scanning for the read unread notifications on each thread that I would normally follow. It's a hassle and I'm definitely checking less often. I hope they get it fixed soon.

There's one on this page - top right, under the search box for discussions - "unread topics | mark unread".

On the group home page, to the right of Discussion Board - "topics all | new | unread".

From the Discussions Page - to the right "new topic | edit folders | unread" For those who aren't moderators, there may not be the edit folders link in that last one.

I just read the ones I want in the unread folder and then mark the rest as "mark all as read". They won't come up again until there's a new post in that thread.

message 1975: by Margo (new)

Margo | 11634 comments Is anyone else not getting notifications? I've had none all over the weekend. When I go to the group page I see the activity so I know you're all posting so it's not a big deal, just strange.

message 1976: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 18550 comments Haha Margo, you might want to read up the thread a few comments - it seems that lots of people are having this issue.

Oh, thanks!

Edit - See, when I go there, there are 105 pages of unread topics. All the old closed discussion topics, etc are all in there. That has always seemed so overwhelming to me. But now that I look at it, it is organized by date of last comment. That does make it easier.

Msg 1968 explains it.

message 1979: by Peggy (new)

Peggy (pebbles84) | 15868 comments So... a few weeks ago I downloaded this app where you can sell (and buy) second hand clothing.

Then I found out you can sell and buy second hand books there too.. I've bought 9 books (including a 4-book series) there in the past 2 weeks. I should probably get a grip on myself now.

PS. I sold one book too!

message 1980: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 18550 comments I used to do ReadItSwapIt where you list your books that you want to get rid of and someone gets in touch to request one of them and then you choose a book that they own in return. I found some great books that way. I stopped doing it for some reason. Actually, it was probably because I got a kindle.

message 1981: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 18550 comments @Kristie, you can mark them all as read so that you have a clean slate and then go from there!

message 1982: by Peggy (new)

Peggy (pebbles84) | 15868 comments That sounds interesting Sarah! I'll go see if it's available here too.

I do the same.

message 1984: by Cherie (new)

Cherie (crobins0) | 21536 comments The Aussie Readers group, that I am a member of, sent a personal message about the notices about an hour and a half ago. Similar to what Janice posted in message 168 above. They said that they are working on it and they are sorry that members are upset and angry about it.

This is working better. I still have ignore some and there's the extra step of marking them every time, but much better than being overwhelmed with threads. The only issue is that I still won't get notifications about other things, such as comments on my reviews, this way

message 1988: by Peggy (new)

Peggy (pebbles84) | 15868 comments I did get a notification that I had a new message (which was the ylto newsletter), but no others.

message 1989: by Kristie, Moderator (new)

Kristie | 19155 comments Yes, I'm still getting my messages and friend requests, but those are separate notifications. They have their own area.

message 1990: by Kristie, Moderator (new)

message 1991: by Peggy (new)

I missed them so much.

message 1992: by [deleted user] (new)

I thought it was strange that there were no notifications coming through. Thought everyone was just being incredibly quiet lol!

message 1993: by Kristie, Moderator (new)

Kristie | 19155 comments Katie wrote: "I thought it was strange that there were no notifications coming through. Thought everyone was just being incredibly quiet lol!"

lol! It was about 5 days. That would be super quiet! Though, I did notice GR was quieter in general without the notifications.

message 1994: by Peggy (new)

Peggy (pebbles84) | 15868 comments Yes, too much effort to look up all my usual threads by hand all the time in the app.

After two days I got suspicious. We're never THAT quiet ;-)

message 1995: by Sandra, Moderator (new)

Sandra (sanlema) | 11264 comments Fixed for me too!

message 1996: by Jenn (new)

Jenn | 3029 comments I had thought that mine was broken 😞 got a response from them that they were doing some maintenance/rebuilding. I was less panicky after receiving the response, but not really any less frustrated lol I am sooooo glad it’s functioning again 😃

message 1997: by Saar The Book owl (new)

Saar The Book owl | 2650 comments Yes, it was annoying that the notification didn't work. I've installed the app, but will de - install it. It works only half!

message 1998: by Jenn (new)

Jenn | 3029 comments I have the app too Saar, but only use it for general stuff (usually). It is so frustrating that you can’t open spoilers, and most posts with pictures 😞

message 1999: by [deleted user] (new)

I don't like the app - prefer to be on the site direct. You would think that as Goodreads is now owned by Amazon they would put some effort into the site and app to make it better.

message 2000: by Jenn (new)
