We've decided to start out doing them every 2 days until it doesn't hurt quite so much. The thought of doing another routine now does not fill me with joy.

Indeed, quite a few of my friends have said if we're not careful, we'll all end up as fat alcoholics!!
Disaster has struck!! Last night in our Zoom party, Rob spilt vodka on my laptop. We mopped it up as best we could and carried out the zoom call - laptop seemed to work fine. Today, I just went to use it and the keyboard doesn't work. So I'm unable to login in. Some keys work but others don't. So I'm screwed! I now need to work out how to get the hard drive out to transfer the data. And started checking out online what laptop I can get as a replacement. Rubbish timing financially but it's an essential part of my business so I have no option.
Sarah, we have an old laptop with the same problem, not due to getting wet, though. It is so ok that the keys progressively stopped working. Anyway, my kids use it with an external keypad. If the port USB works you can plug a keyboard. They are inexpensive, specially compared with other solutions. actually my kids also use it with an external mouse, since the touchpad doesn't work either. In this house nothing goes to the trash if it is not completely dead.It is not good to move around with the laptop, but it might be a good temporary solution while you are working from your boat and going anywhere.
Thanks Sandra! I hadn't thought of that. I would at least allow me to see if anything more than just the keyboard is broken, backup the hard drive and keep going until all this is over.
Sarah wrote: "We've decided to start out doing them every 2 days until it doesn't hurt quite so much. The thought of doing another routine now does not fill me with joy."Lol! You've Marie Kondo'd Betty Rocker! 😂
I don't blame you! I think every other day is a great idea. On your off days you could do something easy, like go for a walk or do some stretches or something.
That would be a great solution! Our drinks were a huge succes! We plan to do it every Friday from now on.
I'm also trying to get some friends to join an online pubquiz tomorrow evening.
My work group and our manager had a video lunch meeting today. It was nice to see everyone's face and where they were working from at home. I had to remind myself to get "presentable" before we started. I brushed my hair and put on a decent shirt. I have been working in my grubby clothes and slippers all week.
We are preparing to homeschool 12-year old Harrison. The school is putting it all online so hopefully it won't be too bad. I told him that it had been recommended for students to wear their formal uniforms, and have a packed lunch as if they are going to school so that they can keep up a feeling of routine. The look on his face and his retort of "I'm not doing THAT" was an absolute classic. What a tease I am. But I'm not joking that there will be no gaming during school hours. Let's just see how we go. I'll keep you posted.
I saw this and it so reminded me of our happy hour Zoom. I spent most of the time looking at my neck lolhttps://images.gr-assets.com/photos/1...

Lol.
Shirley wrote: "We are preparing to homeschool 12-year old Harrison. The school is putting it all online so hopefully it won't be too bad. It was exhausting for me (they are so many) but the kids actually liked it. I think spelling lists, multiplication facts and lit logs brought kind of a sense of normalcy that was very welcomed. :)
Lol Shirley!I went rollerskating today, first time in 3 years or so. I went only for a short ride, but it's a few hours later now and I'm already starting to feel the muscles in my legs. I'm not looking forward to tomorrow morning...
Apologies, as this is vaguely Covid-19 related. But this article made me cry with laughter so I thought you should all see it. Ah, Aussies. Every time you think we're done, we just up it to another level.

OMG that is awesome Rusalka 🤣 And, now he has a one-of-a-kind memory for his Beer Flu scrapbook lolI really needed that, thank you Rusalka 😃
Hahaha, that gave me a good laugh! Also, I find it very comforting that even astrophysicists have moments like this.
Craig just showed me the same article here. It was a BBC article, so it’s making its way around the world. Lol Too funny... poor guy.
Just done my first skype call with my parents. It was nice to see them. We've nit seen each other since before christmas. They got on ok with the tech.

Glad you all enjoyed! I was reading this out to Lexx yesterday, and had to pause multiple times crying with laughter. I don't know if that is a sign of us here, or the fact that it was so detailed and matter of fact. Amazing, particularly by his partner.
Esther wrote: "We did a knitting tea on Zoom last week. We were bout 15 and it worked fine. Maybe this is something you could try? We've been doing 40 people twice a week at work on Zoom. You mute yourself on incoming, and then click on the participants tab where you can raise your hand if you have something to say. The host has to manage it, but it works. I've been doing team meetings each morning of 8 people without muting, which has worked until everyone talks on top of everyone.
I ran into a friend of mine from uni in the webcam aisle in Officeworks last week (how middle class canberran, urgh) who said they had a division meeting of 180 people (not a typo) on Zoom the other day. So that's a recommendation!
Unless a naked Norwegian crashes the meeting... https://techcrunch.com/2020/03/26/nor...

My Weight Watchers meeting is now via Zoom also.
I took a walk today and there was a big sign in fromnt of a house :Klaxonnez! Bonne Fete Richard
('Honk your horn!!! Happy Birthday Richard!!)
I guess it is a kid Bday.
I ordered a keyboard Sandra so I can use my laptop. It should arrive in a couple of days. Fingers crossed everything else works.
I'm starting my jump rope challenge today. First day is 30 seconds. I already managed 2 minutes when I was just trying it out, so I should be able to get through the first few days without difficulty. Also, my dad is fixing my rollerskates (I bought them about 20 years ago and even though I haven't used them for a while, I did use them a lot when I was younger). They were never cleaned, so if you spin some of the wheels they hardly move and make a strange sound. So I'm excited to pick it up again as well. I wonder if I'll notice the difference.
And it will be 22C on Sunday!! And there's nothing to do except do nothing and enjoy it. We've had the sunniest (not necessarily warm though) start of Spring since ever. Every day except one since March 21 has been sun and clear blue skies from morning to evening. Why can't all Spring and Summer days be like that?
Yes we've had lovely sunny weather all week to which has been a godsend as it has meant we could sit outside the boat for some fresh air. Although I have had to wrap up warm and have a blanket over me too. Haha. Yes I saw that the temperature was supposed to go up at the weekend. That is good. Although it might mean we get more footfall along the towpath which will be frustrating.
I think Mother Nature is playing an April Fool's joke on us. It's -17C (1F). It will be next week that we'll see temps above freezing. At least there isn't any snow in the forecast. I went out and shovelled snow yesterday. There was at least 6 inches accumulated on the top of my car.
I think Mother Nature has been playing too many jokes lately. She's all over the place. We've had to switch from heat to A/C and back again several times. We have no snow down here, but the pollen is accumulating!
I miss you all, and really haven't had time to check in properly in the past two weeks. We're hitting the end of the first week of three months working at home tomorrow, so hoping things calm down from now. I have been reading and am missing talking to you all properly!
We miss you too Rusalka! I hope you settle into a rhythm working from home and that things quiet down for you.

My niece dropped off some baking supplies. Their is some yeast. I have never really baked with yeast. So I am exploring bread making.

We have just had our first week with homeschooling. It’s been much easier than I thought. Everything is online so we just set the rules of how long he has to work, and no computer gaming during school hours. We go out walking, and Gary my husband is doing some projects with him. They did a very savage trimming of the bushes on our fence line. Neighbours very happy. We went online to buy a table tennis table today, but everywhere is sold out. I’ve been cleaning the house, clearing out cupboards and rearranging furniture. IKEA is still open, so I’m looking at having a new chest of drawers delivered. That’ll be another little project for the boys.To all of you working from home, I hope things become easier with time. Do you think that working from home might be more widely used after the crisis is over?
Renee enjoy your bread making, and that fresh baked bread smell.
Rusalka, I would never have thought of putting magnets in my nose. I guess that’s the difference between me and an astrophysicist.
Tonight on the news, they put in a segment of children around the country giving messages of love to their grandparents that they haven’t seen in a while because of isolation rules. It was very sweet. The newsreaders must get very downhearted when all they do is give bad news, worse each day. At least we can switch off when we want to.
Shirley, I read blogs by people who thought it would be heaven to work from home, but after 2 days they wished they could go back to the office! They had spouses and kids running around, so that makes a big difference ;-)I do think that companies now had to make sure people can work from home where they couldn't before, so the possibilities may remain open after the crisis and may be used more often.
I'm glad the homeschooling isn't too bad for you!

lol, I completely understand that! I told my daughter if my sudden inspiration to bake and eat didn't stop I was going to turn into Jabba the Hut before I was released into the public again.
