Margo | 11629 comments It's only 8C here so no sitting out to read! It is a beautiful sunny day though. Perfect walking weather!

Janice (jamasc) | 59896 comments I should shovel the snow off my deck. One of my FB quilting groups suggested hanging a quilt on deck railings to add some decorativeness to the community.

Kristie | 19148 comments Oh, it's a beautiful day out here. :) It's supposed to get up to 80℉ (about 27℃). I am going to take the dogs for a walk soon, then I definitely hope to spend some time outdoors reading today.

Of course, my husband started working from home this week and he took over the deck today. I try not to read in the same room he's working in because he's so loud when he makes calls! Oh well, it might be worth it for the fresh air. lol

Renee (elenarenee) | 1650 comments Sarah I have a friend who is in an assisted living facility. She told me a story that broke my heart.

One of the other residents was admitted for rehab after a fall. The women's 67 wedding anniversary was yesterday. To protect the residents no visitors are allowed. The only thing she and he husband could do was press their hands to the window glass.

I understand the no visitors but it still makes me sad

Thanks, Margo. They are still going on about it in their group chat, with underlying comments, but I ignore it. I'm 37, all of them are younger than me, between 25 and 30. The owner is 34. I just act like the bigger person and ignore it, but still it hurts. Now I know when I can see my horse next week, so I'm relieved about it.

Yes, and little baby bumblebees! I've found my chicken's first egg yesterday! The other one layed her egg a month ago, but then got very sick and then the other layed now. Small Spring things making gardeners happy ;)

Travis (travistousant) | 6011 comments So I'll go a couple days get caught up then try to disconnect for a couple few days. Today was a I don't care about covid updates day. My usual radio station does hourly covid updates which is so stressful. Naturally I went to one of my safer stations. Turn it on to hear. Yup a covid update followed by several commercials on it. I understand the need to report on things but I can't have it thrown in my face every 5 minutes it's just too much. People need a break from the media coverage that's just as important as the updates

Go and enjoy seeing your horse and try to ignore those pesky humans...

message 870: by Annerlee (new)

Annerlee | 2871 comments Well, Today was my second day working from home. I just told my colleague where I lived and he brought the stuff over in his van. He's sworn to secrecy. Simple really.

So, I've been on my own all day (apart from the odd email) so I took a break and made a huge pot of lentil and veggie soup. Am now leaving it so the flavours can mingle. It smells delicious and should feed me for about a week... lol

I'm about to feed the birds on my windowsill. I love watching them. I sometimes get a huge hooded crow visiting. He eats his fill of the small pieces and pushes the large ones aside.. then he fills his bill with the big bits and flies off home with them. So clever. Makes me smile.

"While the annual Chino Valley Unified School District (CVUSD) Choral Festival—originally scheduled for Wednesday, March 18—has been cancelled, our Chino Hills HS Chamber Singers demonstrated resilience by recording their individual a cappella portion of Over the Rainbow in their separate homes, and through technology were able to appear together as a family again."

Kristie | 19148 comments I think it’s great that they have that online, Sandra. I think it’s even better than just having a concert night. They get to watch it themselves and it will be out there for them to look back on later. Very creative and positive way for them to handle a disappointing moment.

message 878: by Travis (new)

Travis (travistousant) | 6011 comments Well tough day here. For a brief time my wife had a slight fever. 99. She's fine. But she works at a hospital. We decided. Her parents are retired and just sit at their house all the time anyway. They have isolated themselves their whole life anyway so we're sending the kids there to live indefinitely. It's about 2 hours away. It's the right decision. The smart decision. But it sure sucks. Adulting is hard some days.

Just too easy to carry something home from the hospital. Just not worth the risk

I am going to make some lentil stew too. That’s a co-incidence! I am also going to make a chicken curry.

Jayme | 4519 comments We had tickets for The American Shakespeare Center that we ended up donating instead of opting for the refund because they had to close the theater. Apparently a lot of other people did the same thing - insert hand clapping - anyway they will be presenting a free live stream performance of "Midsummer 90" this Sunday March 22nd at 1:45pm EST on their Facebook page as a thank you. Just a little FYI in case you are feeling stir crazy.

message 892: by Jannene (new)

Jannene | 3124 comments Travis, does she still have a fever? Is she okay?

message 893: by Travis (new)

Travis (travistousant) | 6011 comments My wife's fever is gone. Probably just from the stress and everything. They're telling the hospital to make a plan by Wednesday of how they will handle 4 times the capacity and it will be all hands on deck. They aren't necessarily expecting our area to be hit that hard but New York City is gonna be hit so hard they're gonna have to start shipping patients up north. I mean NYC already accounts for 1/3 of US patients. And my wife has been climbing the ladder at work and is pretty high up now where she is involved in figuring these things out. Just a lot of stress. All's well though for now. Everyone is healthy she has no fever . The kids have moved to a safe location and I guess we're ready for war so to speak

Anyone's guess what happens now. Do the best you can with what you have it's all we can do

Jenn | 3029 comments Wow Travis, I’ve always been impressed with your attitude, but this definitely speaks to strength of character for me. What incredibly hard decisions to have to make 😞

On the home front, both Sean and myself have been sent home 🤦‍♀️ He has had a cold for ages (not the plague, just a cold), so his work sent him home. Then my work found out and sent me home to join him. On the upside, I can work from home so at least I still get paid. On the down side I’m stuck at home with “him” who is already going loopy and climbing the walls . . . only 13 more days before I can maybe go back to work . . . And, if I kill him, I’ve got two weeks to make it look like an accident 😉

Good call, Janice. I'm sure some people need a break from the Corona discussion.

I have a few things to put out there...

I have had plenty of time lately, but I'm not getting hardly any reading done. I wonder if this is some kind of a slump? I enjoy what I'm reading, but just don't seem to be picking it up. Anyone else get into this situation?

I recently learned how to crochet. I made a baby blanket forever ago, but I forgot how I did it, so a friend of mine showed me what to do. I am making a scarf for my daughter's dog. I know it sounds weird, but he loves to wear clothes. I've never known a dog who loved clothes before. Since my daughter likes to take him hiking in most weather, I thought it might be cute. Plus, it's a small enough project for me. I'll try to remember to post a pic in the what have you made thread if when I eventually finish it.

Anyone else watch American football. I am a Patriots fan. I know that's practically a dirty word. lol We found out on St. Patrick's Day that Tom Brady is leaving the team. He is apparently going to Tampa Bay. I'm really curious who the team is going to get to fill that position. It's going to be a strange year.

Also... the toppler thread is posted! Take a peek and see if you can find something to read with us in 2 weeks!
