Hehe all good! We are both having the same issues :)
Completely agree. I'm just looking forward to a holiday from work ;)

When are you going to Norway, Shirley? I'm going mid August.

I think we have a law or something that if the ministry of foreign affairs issues a negative travel advice for a country, you can cancel your trip and are entitled to a full refund. I have no idea though what happens if the agency or organisation you're travelling with decides to cancel flights or trips. I guess every insurance might have slightly different rules for that.

That sounds extreme! And a good way to make people even more panicky.. it's interesting to see the differences in how this is handled in different countries.
We had our first confirmed case yesterday (edit: second case was confirmed just now, unrelated), but nothing changes. Health organisations will investigate who this person has been in contact with and depending on the risk and level of contact those people will be quarantained. But there's no closing schools or isolation entire towns. Actually, I read somewhere that with this virus (as opposed to flu) younger people are at a lower risk of getting and spreading it, so closing schools isn't necessary. Also, it's actually discouraged here to wear a face mask (even though many people seem to have bought them) because it's no use if you don't use them properly (which is not as easy as you'd think), and also because they need to be available for doctors etc who actually do need them.
You'd imagine all governments and organizations have the same information and act in line with that, but apparently that's not the case.

This was mentioned here today too but framed as that this is an observation, and that they need to test it. So while interesting, it's not a conclusion. They need months worth of data to work that out, but is a quirk at the moment.

And that's what we as humans love doing!
but I completely agree. It's amazing all the different takes on things that all our governments are telling us, even though they are getting the same information. Our government is trying to distract from it's own corruption by pushing the virus. Yet, I don't really mind as I said last night. We are really susceptible as an island, so if we plan for the worst and have extra medicine and the like, and just have to give it to pharmacies later as we are okay, awesome.

At this point is almost like a part time job, but yeah, none of us should forget about corruption.

Thats because parents were pressuring the ministry of education, At least thats what I heard from a coworker so It was an order by the ministry of health, last time I checked we had 5 confirmed cases and everyone is freaking out.

I’m going mid-May so we won’t cross paths. Are you cruising?

Couldn’t have said it better myself."
That said, I really hope you get your holiday!

congrats!

Yes, we're doing a 7 day cruise of the fjords. I land in Iceland on my way to Copenhagen (where we board the cruise), and again on our way home. But we won't spend any time there.

True Rus. Also the world was recovering from WW1 and many were malnourished and/or recovering from injury. I think we are a better position to deal with this now.
Mam and I are both in the vulnerable population. If there were cases near to us we would take precautions but, as usual, the media is trying to hype things up.
There is one confirmed case in Ireland, in the north.
We are expecting to be hit by storm Jorge tomorrow and I think it will a bad one. The road Pete drives to work is almost under as it is, it's not going to survive another week of rain. It is one of the two main roads into the town, thankfully the other still looks OK but it won't get him there. Most of the back roads are impassable :(

Congratulations, Rusalka!

My daffodils in the front yard are all starting to open, and as I was pulling out of the driveway to go to the library, it started hailing (only raindrop size thankfully, not golf ball size like Rusalka got). It was funny to see it rolling and pelting off of the roof. It is pounding down rain outside now. I am at work on my laptop and even with another floor in the building between me and the roof, I can hear the rain beating on the roof.

Just heard there's a second person in Belgium with corona. The first one got cured.

Oh, that’s a nice location, Saar.
I thought about starting one in my neighborhood, but I’m not on a through street so no one ever drives by. This location is much better. Everyone in the neighborhood drives by it most days.

Dennis was definitely the worst here too Sarah but I think the water is only coming down from the mountains now to flood the local roads. Pete has to take a detour to work which adds 15 minutes each way onto his journey.
Coronavirus treat has been raised to critical here. So much for the power of positive thinking LOL The number of cases in Ireland has doubled overnight. OK, that only brings it to 13 but the stats are worrying. If It contuse to spread at that rate.....

We have 128 cases now, and the first death. I also had an email from work that everyone has to take their laptop and other necessary things home each day. If the school closes (not likely) or you have to be quarantained but are not sick, at least some of the work can still be done.

A section of Trinity College was closed today as a student went down with the virus. I think we will a bunch more cases soon.

I think that's a good option for you, Renee, even if you're being greedy :P That's great of your Librarian. The paper would probably be okay, I'd be concerned about the covers for you.
"How long does coronavirus last on surfaces?
It's a question a lot of people have been asking, and science is starting to give us a clearer picture of the answer.
One study that brought together data from 22 previous studies on coronaviruses (but not this new 2019 strain) found human coronaviruses could theoretically last on surfaces at room temperature for up to nine days.
That sounds like a long time, but a lot of factors come into play, tweeted Angela Rasmussen, a virologist at Columbia university in the US.
Some of these factors include:
The type of surface: Viruses survive on shiny, hard surfaces longer than soft ones
Whether it's exposed to sunlight: UV radiation kills viruses
Temperature and humidity: Viruses last longer at lower temperatures and lower humidity
But the best way to avoid getting infected from touching a contaminated surface? Keep your hands clean and don't touch your face." https://www.abc.net.au/news/2020-03-0...
So buy away! And now you have the science to back you up ;)

Corner shops are all fine, but the major supermarkets are cleaned out. I went to the one next to Lexx's work on Thurs (I skipped Costco next door which is like the fricking Hunger Games), and shelves were empty - no pasta, no rice, no coconut cream, no soap, no tp (but I was steering clear of that aisle, that's where the crazies live). I think there is just this overwhelming leftover trauma from the summer that people have lost the plot.

Toilet paper, hand sanitizer, and bottled water is flying off the shelves here and there are no reported cases in Alberta. Yesterday, I had one roll of toilet paper left and a super busy day. I ordered TP and other groceries online and scheduled pick up at 8:00 last night. The only thing missing from my order was the TP. Number one priority today was - shopping!

Good thinking Rene. It's a good chance to buy some of your favorite books.
Bank notes are thought to be a source of virus transmission. Here in Korea, the food delivery services have asked that we pay online when ordering food to minimize the transmission of the virus. So, when I ordered I paid by card online. It saves on counting cash and giving change for the delivery men.
I hope you can find some toilet roll.
Stay safe if you have other medical conditions.

So Queensland’s endless sunshine and relentless humidity is good for something at last!

I hear you Jayme! My wine rack is fully stocked at all time so no panic buying required LOL

Haha where are peoples priorities?!

THIS! Jayme is my people!

*snort* My Dan Murphy's, Boozebud, and Beer Cartel orders all arrived this week! Quarantine at my place!!!
