R | 13 comments I’m about to start this. I hope I like it! I have never read the mortal instruments series or watched the movie so this will be new for me, and I’ve managed to not get spoiled. A friend recommended it to me since I liked the Grisha trilogy. Here we go!

Happy reading!!

HeatherH (bkwrm85) | 599 comments I got through the first three chapters today. This is a revisit for me but it has been somewhere around 7 years since I read it the first time. Heck, maybe longer. I think I started the series shortly before the 3rd book was released. I read most of the mortal instruments and one of the infernal devices but never kept with it but I'm hoping to work my way through every book in the shadowhunter realm in release order this year. Since I have a terrible memory (I blame my kids ahah) its familiar but there is a lot I don't remember.

Mena (valkyrie_vida) | 18 comments This is one of those I'm curious about but stayed away from because of the hype. I think I'll read it now.

R | 13 comments I read through chapter 6 last night haven’t done today’s chapters yet, but I like it. I think I would have loved this series in high school! There are some moments where I think the dialogue is a bit cheesy, but I have heard that the series gets better in later books.

Laura ☾ | 1106 comments @Robyn that's how I felt - I loooved the books when I first read them (started reading them shortly after the first book came out - so I was in my mid-teens) but then I tried re-reading them recently and just found them too cheesy! But I do still like the Infernal Devices (and will probably read any more books that are released in the same universe just to see where it goes)

R | 13 comments I finished City of Bones a couple days ago and overall I liked it. I was bored with some sections because I thought the writing was bland and sometimes made me cringe just a little. I think it was a nice, light read. I’ve heard the quality of writing gets better in the later books, so I look forward to giving those a try.

HeatherH (bkwrm85) | 599 comments I reread this this month.. Didn't love it quite the same as I did 8-9 years ago. But still planning to continue my rereads until I get through and ready to start all the ones I never read.. I got through the first five years ago but never stuck with it.

It’s the dark artifices and infernal devices that really piqued my interest in the series.
