Yoly (macaruchi) | 795 comments Has anyone been watching The Witcher show on Netflix?

I've been working hard trying to avoid spoilers online and so far I have been successful, and it seems everyone loves the show and looks like it's another hit for Netflix. So I'm excited to watch this show eventually when I finish the books, or at least the first few.

I saw that the TV show is apparently based on the first two books, which are short story collections.

I started reading The Last Wish a few months ago but abandoned (I think I just wasn't in a fantasy mood at the time), which is a collection of short stories, and apparently the first one according to publication reading order. I've already read the first story, and thought it was interesting.

Has anyone read the books/played the video games?

Gary | 1472 comments I'm not very familiar with that particular series. True story: I had something of a "problem" with a video game when The Witcher came out. I was playing Mount & Blade like a South Korean shut-in with extra fingers and a caffeine on an IV drip. I told a friend of mine I was addicted to this game, and he said, "Have you played The Witcher yet?" I was, like, "Dude, I JUST told you I have a problem with a video game, and you ask if I've played ANOTHER addictive game? That's like asking a cocaine addict if he's considered heroin. You'd be the worst 12 Step sponsor ever."

Yoly (macaruchi) | 795 comments LOL. The worst thing for me about getting addicted to a video game is that when I eventually finish it, it's baaaaaaaad.

I bought the Witcher 3 a few months ago but haven't started it yet. I saw my husband play the first Witcher game some years ago and it seemed interesting.

I've read online that the Witcher books are awesome, so far I've enjoyed it.

Gary | 1472 comments I tend to get addicted to relatively obscure "builder" or "empire" sandbox games where there isn't an end point or that have a lot of replay potential, so it's a never-ending thing, and I have to "hit rock bottom" as the anonymous alcoholics say. In reality that just means play the "perfect" game once in that Groundhog's Day (the movie) kind of way, which satisfies my need for electronic order.

Matthew Williams (houseofwilliams) | 156 comments I just finished the first season on Netflix and, as forewarned, I am some upset about the fact that season two won't be coming until 2021!
