Luci Turner (lucycodex) | 1 comments My name is Lucy, and I am trying to read a lot more books this year. I have ADHD, so sitting down and reading can be a hard thing to do, but I am determined!

My favorite topics thus far are books that will help to expand my knowledge on culture, politics, and the like. I am a leftist, and am for social justice.

I have been reading Braiding Sweetgrass: Indigenous Wisdom, Scientific Knowledge, and the Teachings of Plants, and just finished Outliers. I have several more books in my repertoire that I plan on reading over the next year, and hope to read at least 12 full-sized books.

We will see if I succeed!

GwenolaBarr (gwenola___barr) Hello all! :D

I'm Gwen, from Sydney AUS! I adore dystopic fiction, fantasy, sci-fi, and political non-fiction. I (luckily) found this group via the community search function - and thought it would be a great way to keep me accountable this year! :D

In 2020 I aim to read a minimum of 2 books a month. I'm currently about to study my Master in Communication and am wanting to ensure I read for fun still.

My genre goals are to read more books by Japanese authors (particularly female) and read non-fiction stories about data ethics. :)

HAPPY READING ALL!

Hello everyone,

I'm Melissa from North Carolina and I love to read any and everything. Currently I've incorporated the PopSugar Reading Challenge into my 110 books goal for 2020. Once I finish those 50 books it will be onto whatever strikes my fancy and/or I have preordered throughout the year.

Emma Runciman-Jones | 3 comments My name is Emma, but I have always been known as Ems so it has stuck.

I used to love reading when I was younger but I stopped after I finished my degree. I recently got back into reading and I have set myself a goal of reading 30 books this year. I joined back up with my local library and start taking out books again.

I like to read different genres of books. My favourite author is Wilbur smith and I love all of his books, His Ancient Egyptian series introduced me to Egyptology and as a result I studied it at Uni as a degree. I love the Seventh Scroll and River God but I didn't like the rest of the series he wrote.

I do like fantasy and I love George RR.Martin's Game of Thrones series and other books he has written. I also grow up reading J.R.R. Tolkien's books.

kim v (joseygirl) | 2 comments Hey There
I’m Kim from Ontario. I love mystery thrillers but read all kinds of books. Along with my goal to read 50 books this year, I want to read at least one nonfiction a month and at least 6 classics. I love Goodreads and all the recommendations and reviews 💕

message 215: by Sophie (new)

Sophie (znair) Hi all - I'm Sophie and last year I finally reached my goals of 52 books a year. I've set the same goal again for 2020 and am so excited - I never manage to follow a theme in my reading because there's just so much good stuff out there!

message 216: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer Tucker | 14 comments Hi everyone. I am Jenny, from Seattle WA (USA). My happy place is in bed under the covers with a window open (so I can hear the rain and feel the cool breeze), and with a book and my kitty. I've set my reading goal low this year (12), as I've been working a lot of OT - but i hope to crush this goal. I'm reading Starless Sea right now (not loving it).....and anxiously waiting to start reading Pigs by Johanna Stoberock. I tend towards nonfiction, but am opening myself up to novels.

Scott | 1 comments Hey. My name is Scott.

This year I have opted for a 25 book challenge. (Halfway between 2018's 30 book and 2019's 20 books.) I think it's doable.

I'll be interested to see if there's any crossover between my reads and the groups. I read adventure, science, New York settings, and sometimes look for award winners.

Shawny O'Leary | 17 comments Hello, my name is Shawny. I wanted to be a little more involved in the social aspect of this site and thought joining this group would be a good idea!

I love to read and I am looking forward to meeting my challenge this year. I like to read different genres of different types, but mostly read, non-fiction, fiction, fantasy and historical fiction.

I love connecting with characters and peoples stories. I also covet creative and interesting writing styles!

I look forward to seeing how this group takes me further into my venture/challenge this year!

message 224: by Alina (new)

Alina Bogateanu (elizuk87) | 7 comments Hi everyone,

I am from Romania, but I live in Germany.
For me, it is easier to say what kind of books I don't like to read. I don't like Horror, SF, Fantasy books. I am more anchored in reality. ;)
I found this group searching for some challenges.
And my reading goal for this year is 100 books.

message 225: by Rayshan (last edited Jan 10, 2020 10:36PM) (new)

Rayshan Hampton | 1 comments Greetings, everyone! My name is Rayshan and I am from Maryland. I realized recently that my hiatus from reading stemmed from a new shift in genre interest that the books I was surrounded by simply didn't satisfy; so my goal is to immerse myself in more historical fiction, realistic fiction, autobiographies, classic and philosophical books. My current goal is to read at least 3 books by August, especially the ones I lost momentum with. I hope everyone attains their goals!

message 226: by April (new)

April (apuss) | 2 comments Hi, I am April from California. I remembered that I used to love reading books when I was little but it’s been a while since I read... my goal for 2020 is to complete 34 books with diverse genres :)

message 227: by Konstantinos (new)

Konstantinos Kontoeidis (torcap1989) Hi everyone :)
I recently found this group and liked it .
My name is Kostas , 31, from Athens , Greece .
Last year in 2019 I read only 3 books.
This year I am planning to read 52 books .
It is a huge challenge for me but I will read every day for at least 2-3 hours.
My main interests are non-fiction books with emphasis on topics such as focus , emotions , mind etc , and also trading books from Wall Street .
I will start this year by reading the "Outliers" by Malcolm Gladwell .
Due to some issues , I am late but I start today .
Good luck to everyone with achieving their goals , and I will try to find here as many books as possible to add to my list that I find interesting.
Maybe next year I will read some fiction too but so far I am not that interested.
Good luck everyone !

Kirstie | 3 comments Hi everyone! I’m Kirstie, I’m from England.
I’ve recently started using good reads to help motivate me and to help me get back into reading again and find that passion again. I will happily read anything but my favourite genres are thriller, horror, paranormal, but also love the classics. I’ve set a goal of 25 books this year, which I hope I can reach!

message 229: by Elisa (new)

Elisa | 22 comments Hello !

My name is Elisa, I'm from France. I used to read a lot but I stopped when I got into high school, and now that I am in my third year of university, I really miss reading a lot.
My goal for this year is 12 books, the equivalent of one book a month. I think I can do much more, especially since I got back to it these last few days and I'm pretty quick. But that's the minimum for me to really get back to it !

I'm new on GoodReads, I hope I'll have a great time and that you will too !

message 230: by Michelle (new)

Michelle M | 71 comments Hi!

I'm Michelle, currently living in Orlando, Florida. I'm a very recent transplant from NYC.

I have very eclectic tastes in books. I love comic books, so graphic novels or TPBs are always on my list. I enjoy non-fiction self improvement and science themes. And I dabble in fantasy and science fiction.

While I want to read 50 goals this year, I really am hoping to establish a habit of reading 20 pages of anything a day.

message 231: by Sigi (new)

Sigi | 2 comments My name is Sigi. I'm a Master's student in English Literature and Civilisation studying in Lyon, France. Lately, I've been busy and not concentrated enough to read for my own pleasure, so I decided to join a community that might motivate me to read more during this year.

I'm Gilmari, I'm from Venezuela but I'm currently living in Colombia. I've always loved reading and I just finished my 153rd book!

This past year I didn't read that much because of work, so this year I want to do better and read at least 2 books per month. I'm really motivate and excited to accomplish my goal.

I would like to meet reading friends to keep each other motivated and share our thoughts.

message 240: by Nicole (new)

Nicole July | 1 comments Hi I'm Nicole

I've just joined this group to get motivated to read more and because I'm looking forward to hearing everyone's feedback about the books. I'm from Great Britain and live in London.

I always loved reading as a child but got out of the habit when life got busy. I love books with heart and soul and also humour. But as a change of pace I can devour thrillers. I'm hoping to read at least twelve books this year for pleasure (I also have to read for work) but maybe I'll be inspired to read more.

message 241: by Laney (new)

Laney (dicefab) Hey, I'm Laney

I live in the U.S, this year I'm trying to read more since I have been going through serious Reading Block for the past year or two. I am a bookworm, but life has been hectic which I found little time to read anything at all and getting into a book has sadly been difficult. This year I am challenging myself to read 35 books. I want to get into reading books I have piling due to buying more than I need (I'm still going to buy some), so with some booktube channels that have motivated me, I finally have the urge to read again.

My favorite genres vary, but I stick with Mystery/Thriller, Dystopians, horror, zombies (not sure if that's a genre), and fantasy (barely getting into). I don't get into romance that often unless the book catches my attention I'm also picky with YA novels since I'm college now.

message 245: by luna ☾ (new)

luna ☾ (lunargoddessera) | 201 comments Hi everyone! My name is Selina, I'm 25 and I'm from the Philippines but I live in South Africa :) My fave types of books are high fantasy, romance, and mystery/suspense/thriller. I'm not really a huge fan of contemporary so I tend to stick to historical romance but sometimesss contemporary manages to get it right. For me, that is lol.

I found this group through one of my goodreads friends and I thought it would be perfect for me because I have some ambitious reading goals this year and I wanted to sign up for more challenges and be more active in the reading community.

My overall goal for this year (besides joining more challenges) is to read 100 books. In addition to that, I want to read more classics (about 15 or so), complete at least 5 series that I've already started in previous years, and read at least 5 non-fictions. OH! and I want to read more books that are out of my comfort zone so maybe a bit more sci-fi and a bit more adult fiction that is non-fantasy and non-romance focused. Basically, I just want to read widely this year and I want a way to keep track of that :)

message 246: by Carol (last edited Jan 12, 2020 08:08AM) (new)

Carol | 69 comments Hi, I’m Carol and I’m from Essex in England. I’ve been on Goodreads for years to track my own reading but not actively engaged with groups or challenges till now. I love reading and listening to audiobooks and especially love Historical fiction, history and love a list, for example reading all the books shortlisted for an award. I read 49 books last year, but want my target to be encouraging not stressy, so I’ve set this years at 30.
I’ve just joined an 'around the world challenge' in another group, joined the second hand book challenge in this group and have my thirty book target. I'm also planning on joining two February group reads for the first time.
Happy reading everyone! 😊

message 247: by Marilyn Morris (new)

Marilyn Morris | 1 comments Hi there. My name is Marilyn and I live in Utah. I have a passion for good books, especially novels but enjoy non-fiction if it is a subject I am interested in. I am not much for history or science books, but I am open to expanding my horizon. I love good writing, good stories, with interesting characters, and love to read about other cultures. I have kept my list on goodreads for a while, but didn't know about this group. I am happy to be here and set a goal of 25 books this year. It would be great if I could even go above that but I want to be realistic. Love seeing people from so many different countries in this group. I hope it will be a great learning experience.
