McKenzie Hill (satrynify) | 1 comments Hi everyone, I'm McKenzie and I am from North Carolina in the United States.

I prefer to read non-fiction books and biographies, really anything that I can learn from. I like to absorb as much knowledge as possible -- But I am getting into fiction as of late, since I am improving my discipline and attention span and can appreciate the fantasy aspect more now.

I found this group while scrolling through the most popular group list today, and was surprised I wasn't already in it! Problem solved!

My reading goal this year is fifty, since I think I will be able to do it and not have to rush through anything, just enjoy myself. I do hope I'll be able to go over that amount, though. I'm almost done with my second book of the year already.

Nice to meet y'all!

message 152: by Patty (new)

Patty Garrett (pgreader) | 5 comments Hi fellow readers, I'm committed to reading more and binging less on Netflix, etc in 2020. My goals are to learn more about Indigenous history and issues in Canada and to be more informed on environmental issues. Confession: Currently binging on Wentworth on Netlix. Just completed Season 3. I did however put 3 books on hold at our regional library. I'm #75 to get Margaret Atwood's The Testaments! I am looking forward to the group! Cheers! Patty

Nerime (nerishuu) | 13 comments Hello! It's very nice to meet everyone ヽ(*。• ᵕ •。)ノ ~~♡
I'm from Mexico and this is my first time on goodreads, (although I've been reading for a long time) also the first time taking a reading challenge~♡
My favorite things to read are thrillers and horror (´。• ᵕ •。`) so I hope to find some new favorite books in 2020.
Some authors I really like are Thomas Harris and Terry Pratchett.
I also want to read more in Spanish cause I've been neglecting it a bit and maybe some mexican authors~~.

Nice to meet everyone~♡ °˖✧◝(⁰▿⁰)◜✧˖°

message 159: by HeatherH (new)

HeatherH (bkwrm85) Hi all! Name is Heather, I'm from the USA, smack in the middle in Missouri. I found the group through another member whom I in another GR group with and am super excited to add some challenges to my reading goals this year! I just started participating in a few month challenges in other groups this past fall but have yet to jump into anything longer. I read mostly YA but just about any genre within it. I love talking books and seeing what others are reading so feel free to add me if you want :) In 2019 I set a goal to read 75 books and finished with 157! Record high for me. I decided in 2020 I really want to get back to writing more and editing current projects so I kept my goal down a bit, setting it at 80. I read a mix of physical books, ebooks and audio.

I am in a good place now and need to get caught up on my reading. I also have a new wonderful library that finds all the books, in every format, that I can dream up to read. I am determined to read tones of books, from every genre.

message 163: by Melody (new)

Melody Hi all I'm Melody, I'm from Idaho, USA

I love to read romance, suspense and paranormal but dabble and sample quite a bit of others

I was looking thru new groups to join. I took a hiatus last year and honestly forgot about goodreads with the start of a new year and a friend talking about the challenge I thought it was a good time to get back into it.

My goal for this year is to make more time for me and I'm hoping to be able to read 75 books

message 164: by Karyn (new)

Karyn (onlykaryn) | 9 comments Hi everyone,

Am Karyn originally from India, currently in the Dubai - UAE.
I love reading suspense, thrillers and chick lit stuff. Occasionally I read Biographies, if something interests me.

thanks to good reads I was able to join 2 book groups in the city last year and that has increased my book count.

My goal this year is only 25 books, but I believe I will touch 30 at least, unless Netflix and other stuff, pulls me away.

ready to make more book pals across.

Lisa Grønsund | 6163 comments Hi Melody and Karyn, welcome to the group!
Wishing you the best of luck with your reading goals.
I encourage you to check out and join some of the challenges throughout the year. They're always a blast :)

message 166: by Amanda (new)

Amanda Hello..my name is Amanda and I'm 30 from New Jersey. Growing up I was an extremely avid reader. Over the last few years my reading habits have diminished and I realized in 2019 I did not read one single book. I will however blame the fact of becoming a new mom in 2018 and any free time I ended up having in my evenings I would use to catch up on some sleep!

I decided to push myself back into the game since I have several books I collected over the last few years that have remained unread so I am going to start knocking them out. I haven't been on GoodReads for probably over 2 years but I'm hoping using and tracking my reading on this site will help me reach (maybe go beyond) my 2020 goal of reading 20 books. Looking forward to the group and hopefully finding some recommendations along the way.

message 169: by Jane (new)

Jane (enaje) | 12 comments Hi! My name is Jane and I'm from Chicago, Illinois. I love to read mysteries, police procedurals, crime fiction, and even a thriller every now and then. I found this group searching for reading challenges. I'm a little technology challenged and I hope I am posting this as a message because it wasn't very clear on how to post here. Anyway, I am hoping to read a minimum of 12 books, but stretching that goal to 24 this year. I have already read one book, Twisted Twenty-Six by Janet Evanovich (one of my favorite authors).

message 177: by Max (new)

Max (maxinecs) | 3 comments Hello, y'all GoodReadians all the way from the UK :) I'm Max nice too meet you all.

As I'm super generic and don't have a clue what else to say so...
- Where are you from?
The UK aka England (But I did get born in Hong Kong the same place as Jackie Chan and Bruce Lee YEAH)
- What kinds of books do you like to read?
Usually, read Fantasy/Epic Fantasy. Big fan of big boss Brandon Sanderson.
- How did you find our group?
Google...I swear Google is slowly taking over the world and I don't know if that's a good thing?
- What's your reading goal?
Trying to challenge myself to read 24 books this year and try out other Genres and try out one of your group's Challenges as they seem fun *Insert that thinking face. (Any recommendations to try let me know)*

Other thoughts for anyone as I'm curious as a cat.
Do you count some games as books *insert thinking face*? Some examples may be: Fate Stay games, Life is Strange or Pillers of Eternity?

message 179: by Clare (new)

Clare | 1 comments Hello! I'm Clare, from sunny (and, unfortunately, fire-ridden) Australia.

I love reading historical fiction, crime/thriller and romance but will read almost anything I'm given.

My goal is to read 40 books this year and it would be great to branch out in the challenge and try some things I wouldn't normally pick (feel free to give me any suggestions!).

message 180: by Jillian (new)

Jillian | 6 comments hi everyone!
I'm Jillian and I'm from California. Going into the new year, I really wanted to jump back into reading. I always push it off and fall short of meeting my goal for the year but I was given advice to join a book club to help me for 2020.
I literally love to read books of any genre so I can't wait to see everyone's recommendations throughout their personal challenges for the year. I set a goal for a humble 10 books for this year and I'm hoping I can double it up and read 20.
Here's to more reading!

message 181: by Lucia (new)

Lucia (bookbalm) | 16 comments Hi everybody my name is Lucia andi am from Buenos Aires, Argentina (South America). I am a Med student and i spend most of my free time reading.
I prefer to read romantic, historical novels. Jane Austen and Julie Garwood are my favourite authors. I also like to read thrillers and nonfiction material.
I found the group in the browse section and my reading goal for this year is 40 books.
Happy new year all around the world!

BookWyrm | 19 comments I don't qualify as a newbie, but I have been absent for a long time for a variety of reasons. Things have settled down and I plan to do a better job of sticking with the site and the group. :)

My name is Mona and I live in southern Ontario. I'm semi-retired, currently working part-time and with a HUGE pile of books to get through. I've recently moved into a very small apartment and will have to cull my books, alas. (Either that, or throw out my furniture and pile up my books in place of each item. :D )

My goal this year is 20 books. I will read almost anything. Suggestions are always welcome!

I LOVE reading actual books and just recently got into reading electronic books, audio books is something that I would love to explore, and I’m currently looking for a good audio app. I hope that joining this community helps me read more this year and the years to come!
I enjoy reading different types of books and am always looking for a good review! 😊

Echo | 772 comments Hey, I'm Echo, and I hail from sunny Florida.

I found this group while looking for reading challenges, and decided I would join up and see what sort of communities exist. I am still fairly new to Goodreads, but very grateful for it as a resource to track and get suggestions.

I read a lot of fiction, currently splitting a lot of my focus between murder mysteries and Sanderson's Cosmere setting. Most of my reading is done via audiobook, but I want to challenge myself to read more of the physical books on my shelves/piling up this year.

Cayla (cayladeanne) | 1 comments Hi, I'm Cayla, from the US (Georgia).

I joined goodreads years ago but was never consistent with using it. Last year my goal was 50 books and I met it, so this year I'm trying for 60! I'm going to try to use goodreads more often and found this group.

I would love to have some book buddies! I'll read just about anything but I love a good mystery or thriller. History, and historical fiction, and YA books - if they are good! I'm always trying to expand and read more classics and different types of books though!

message 197: by Cheyenne (new)

Cheyenne McQuain (dontbechey) | 5 comments Hey! My name is Cheyenne! I am a senior in undergrad from Upstate New York! My goal for this year is to read 20 books. I know that seems small compared to others, but I haven't been able to enjoy a book for myself in YEARS. I am excited to get back to it, but I am a VERY busy person, so I think 20 is a safe and obtainable goal. If I go over, it will be even better! I am looking forward to reading new genres and broadening my reading taste (I originally like mystery/thriller/crime). I am currently reading "Deja Dead" by Kathy Reichs. I look forward to hearing about you all!

What is a book you recommend?!

:) Chey
