I love the TBR Twins and Buddy Reads in this group. It's a great way to meet new people and to keep reading all year long.

Hadaesia Daemonblade (hadaesiadaemonblade) | 6 comments Hey, I realize I'm super late to the party, but I'm still figuring out Goodread's user interface, lol. Uh, yeah, I use screennames because my real name is common, but I love to let other people know what I can come up with off the bat! I'm a newly-minted Texan, but don't hold that against me! :) I read a lot of fiction, and some nonfiction, and I'm just getting my reading groove back, so I think I'd like to read the two books I've purchased recently, and rework my goals from there! I stumbled across this group by accident, and would love to chat more with people in this group because y'all sound awesome! Ciao and thanks!

There‘s always so much other stuff to do... ;-) My new resolution is to read more and catch up on stuff I always wanted to read and also find some new interesting books. I like cozy mysteries, crime, thriller, romance, adult romance, history - lots of stuff. I found this group on goodreads trying to find a group suitable for me.

Jackie Purvis | 1 comments Hi everyone!

My name is Jackie and I’ve lived in MN for almost my entire life! My favorite book definitely depends on the day, but recently it’s been mysteries. I also just purchased the Game of Thrones series so I’m excited to get started on those as well! I’m currently studying for my Certified Public Accounting exams so finding time to read has been hard, but I’m hoping by joining this club it will motivate me to set aside some time for myself to get back to doing what I love! :)

I only recently joined goodreads and have been looking to be part of some community so I can experience the full essence of this wonderful app and connect with book lovers from all over the world.

Y Thủy | 2 comments Hi there,

I am Y Thủy (pronounces “E Twee” ;p), from Seattle USA.
Still navigating and looking for a monthly book challenge on this application. I need to do a better job logging my books, unfortunately, cannot recall quite a few titles & authors. I remember the stories however.

I love books, and have been engrossing with material translations in English or Vietnamese or Chinese, from historical novels to poetry to science fiction and non fiction.

Currently, I have a series of books to read by BIPOC (Black, Indigenous and People of Color writers).

“So many books, so little time”!

message 1069: by Christy (new)

Christy Baker Greetings All,
I'm Christy and live in San Jose, California, U.S.A. I've been on Goodreads since about 2012 when Shelfari users were bumped over. I've not joined any book groups until know since I mainly use Goodreads to track my own reading and books and see what friends are reading. I'm looking to enjoy some joint reads and discussions as I did that years ago, both on Shelfari and as part of in-person book groups a few times (OH...I MISS IN PERSON GATHERINGS!)

I'm currently unemployed and looking for work. I primarily do executive administrative work as well as occasional ministry and teaching. (I graduated from a Unitarian Universalist seminary so read a lot of world religious/spirituality books, but am doing some caregiving for elderly family and not pursuing ordination at this time).

Book-wise, I'm all over the place. I love fiction, non-fiction, sci-fi and fantasy, mystery, poetry, kid's books and spirituality. A good cookbook or art book makes me happy and I'm as game to read a graphic novel or memoir. A bit of humor and travel or a thoughtful essay all have their place on my shelves. Perhaps the only areas I'm not as keen on are horror/suspense and have just never pursued westerns.

I've already met my goal for this year (currently on 88 of 75) and will it up it for next year since some of those are short reads or kids books. I look forward to getting to join in.

message 1073: by Endive (new)

Endive Grey (milfoil) | 2 comments Hi. I'm Endive. It's not a pen name but I just really prefer anonymity. I'm currently a college student from the Philippines and is also an editor in our school publication.

To be honest, I am quite new here on Goodreads and is still learning how to move around the app a bit. I enjoy reading any kind of book and has no prejudice against any type of writing(I know how hard it is to finish writing a whole novel and I really applaud every author out there). But that said, it doesn't mean that I refrain myself from commenting in their works because we only get better through getting feedbacks from our readers.

This year, I strive to read a total of 100 books. Which I hope I'll be able to accomplish through all my academic paperwork.

So, yeah! I really am so fond of reading and writing groups and I am happy to have found this one!

message 1074: by Dubhease (last edited Nov 07, 2020 01:42PM) (new)

Dubhease | 320 comments I'm from Ottawa, Canada

Mostly, I read Classics, YA, mysteries or thrillers, and spiritual books.

I generally do a modified version of the PopSugar reading challenge where I pick the 12 most interesting prompts (in my opinion) and try to read one a month.

I've been working at home this year. Without a long commute I have more time for reading and I'm always open to a new reading challenge.

My reading goal for the year was 20 books, but I finished that in October, so I guess I'll have to up it for next year.

message 1075: by Suzanne (new)

Suzanne Valiantis (angelsparkle) | 7 comments Hi I'm from West London UK I joined last year, unfortunately I had a very dramatic year in 2019 when my father passed away from a heart condition and of course 2020 has been great either with this Pandemic.
I'll say no more about it moving on and moving forward to what I only hope will be a more Positive, Brighter future in 2021 as I hope to kick start my reading challenge for the coming year head.
I'm very excited to meet fellow readers and share books and reviews.
All the best.

Suzanne

Suzane | 4 comments Hello, I’m Suzane from Indiana, US. I love to read, but have gotten away from it in recent years. I would like to rediscover my reading mojo, as they say, and this group sounds like a good place to start! I like historical and literary fiction, fantasy and science fiction, British style mysteries, humor, books about travel, and cookbooks. I think I am finally gaining an appreciation of poetry after a lifetime. It’s nice to meet you all!

message 1077: by Niyah (new)

Niyah (curlynerd) | 40 comments Hi, I'm Niyah and I'm from Arizona, USA. I love all books that I can learn something from and be entertained by. My personal favorite genres include mystery, thriller, historical fiction, and classic literature. I've read 13 books this year which is okay since I didn't set a goal or try to read more about 6 months into this year. I'm new to Goodreads and would love to make some friends and receive some recommendations. :)

message 1079: by Nilufer (new)

Nilufer (nilufer_frfr) Hello! My name is Nilüfer and I am from Turkey :)

I am still figuring out the kind of books I like to read. I like reading non-fiction and learning about real people's lives or books like Slow Days, Fast Company: The World, the Flesh, and L.A.: Tales that have female protagonists who are in their twenties trying to figure out life and love. But I am open to exploring new genres like fantasy and mystery! I just love words.

I found the group as I stumbled back on to Goodreads because I've been trying to bring books back into my life, especially starting in 2021.

My reading goal is to read at least 21 books in 2021, and I want most of these books to be in Turkish. I am trying to make a head start already, I am currently reading Suzan Defter

I am super duper excited for 2021's reading challenge and feel lucky to have found this group!

Horray!

message 1084: by Isgea (new)

Isgea Hii! I was just browsing the groups because I recently discovered the feature on goodreads and well, here I am.
Im from the UK but have lived in Spain and currently reside in the Netherlands. I kind of like to read a bit of everything. Currently my goodreads is filled with books I read during my early teens, so I want to update it with stuff I actually like to read now. As far as goals go, I would just like to read more frequently. Maybe a yearly goal could be 50 books? I'm just not sure haha. I would also like to get to know more people on here and have great discussions.
