I'm Shreya. During this pandemic, I started reading books as a hobby and somehow developed an interest in reading one for a month and then one for a week. Now, setting my reading challenge to 10 books per month. I would love to get any recommendations for books.

AurorainBookland | 402 comments I reccomend Brightly if you need YA book remendations their lists are amazing and if you are a teacher or guardian they have lists for all age groups from picture books to YA the site lets you select the age range you look at which is helpful if your only looking for YA hit the teens button on the site!

Lisa Huulloouu...
I hope everyone is having a good day/evening depending.
I decided to join this group because it seems realistic lol and not too complicated.
I wanted to read 50 books this year and have only read 16. I don't think I'm going to make my goal but I'm having fun. I like to read a lot of things. I am in a book group online using Discord which is fun but the books we read there are purposely 'difficult' in one area or another.
I've read Water For Elephants a ways back (I liked it) so will begin with the October read here and go from there.
Wishing you happiness and thoughtful contemplation....

KatiecatsBookishLife | 3 comments Hi everyone! I'm a 30something book- and cat lover from Germany (Marburg, close to Frankfurt). I have inherited my passion for books from my father, he always bought a lot of Barbara Wood books about Australia, the Outlander series, etc. I still have a soft spot for books about Australia, New Zealand and Scotland (sadly never been to those countries in real life).
My reading goal for this year is 100 books (looking good so far)!

Oh before I forget: if anyone wants to add me on Goodreads and/or Instagram ( katiecatsbookishlife is my name there) I'd appreciate it.
Started a Netgalley account and I really need to work on my social media if I want to get approved for "the good stuff" :)
If any of you have some good tips about Netgalley or Bookstagram I´d love to have a chat!

message 1009: by Jessica (new)

Jessica Montanye | 1 comments My name is Jess and I'm from upstate NY. Im a 41 year old mom who sadly set her love for reading aside, for a period of time, became addicted to pointlessly scrolling through Facebook, until i realized I was wasting my time and brain cells on mostly meaningless content. I craved substance and something to absorb my mind into that could subside my anxiety from my constant over-thinking during my idle time. I was inspired by my guy, a teacher who loves reading (how ironic), when he recently picked up a book by his favorite author. Now, we have begun to read our books in each others company, and it has given us a whole new world of content to share with each other that has nothing to do with work, kids, or ex spouses! great antidote, right?
I proudly wrote my first book review ever on "The Education of Dixie Dupree" by Donna Everhart, which has also given me an entirely new skillset to work toward. I really enjoy reading book reviews from others to gain perspective as well as a guide to help me reach for books that I am sure to enjoy. But, I especially love the idea of having a platform where reading is entirely encouraged and that I am able to use as a tool to make recommendations to other book-loving friends!
I am currently reading "Women Who Run With the Wolves", by Clarissa Pinkola Estes, PhD.. . slowly chewing off small bits at a time and digesting them, while I wait for my next book to arrive in the mail! I am also on Instagram as embracingjoy, where I photo journal a bit about random, every day life, thoughts/quotes & the ones I love most.

Elina van der Toorn (elinavdt) | 26 comments Hi! I'm Elina from Estonia. I love to read but due to different reasons haven't been reading very actively last years. I enjoy thrillers, detectives, dramas, classic literature, comedies, and even childrens books :).
I understand that it isn't quite a good time to join yearly challenges, as the year is almost over :), but I thought maybe I should do it now and start with developing a healthy reading habit again.

message 1011: by Annabel (new)

Annabel C | 2 comments Hi there,

I am from Boulder, CO.

I love anything fiction, but am especially drawn to classics, especially those from the 20th century. I'll always go for a good suspense, historical fiction, or romance as well.

I found this group just by scrolling.

My goal: 40 books this year.

message 1012: by aarja (new)

aarja (aarjak) | 27 comments Hello! I am Aarja, and I'm a teen. Some people say I'm too organized for a teen, and joining this group just reflects my personality! 😂

I really like the idea of this group, but question: do you change your title every year? Like, will you change this group to 2021 Reading Challenge next year?

Also, on my reading goal. Initially, it was just 50 books, but now it's 155! I don't know how it happened, so don't ask me why!

Happy to be a part of this group :)

message 1023: by Lacey (new)

Lacey | 28 comments Hi everyone, I’m Lacey and I’m from England. I read most fiction that isn’t too romance heavy but mainly YA and fantasy. Harry Potter is probably one of my favourite series but some of my favourites are the Percy Jackson series by Rick Riordan, The Fault in Our Stars, Divergent and the House of Night series by P. C. Cast and Kristin Cast. I found this group whilst idly browsing and it looked interesting so I joined before the novelty of joining Gr groups wears off lol. And all thanks to lockdown (if that’s one positive) then I’ve read a lot and very last minute I set a reading goal on here after deciding that it really didn’t matter that I rejoined Goodreads halfway through the year yay for iBooks for keeping track of my reading progress to begin with. This group sounds fun and adding more books to my tbr pile is always a bonus :)

Nice to have you in our group. The group name changes automatically for next year. You don't have to do anything once you are here.

Wow 155 books good luck to you with that goal. Mine is currently to read a book a week and so far I think that I will be able to accomplish that.

I just recently completely my 40 book reading goal that I set for myself during all these months! I love reading historical fictions, romance and thrillers! I've also been trying to diversify my bookshelves, both authors and genre!

I love to read Literary Fiction, Non-Fiction, Pyschological Thrillers, Fantasy (Mythology and Arthurian) YA and Romance.

My goodreads goal is 150 books! My goal is never usually that high, with having a child and work I find it hard to hit 30. But with the pandemic and thanks to Audiobooks, I have been able to listen to great books whilst adulting.

I came across this group on the popular section whilst looking for groups to join

Welcome Alyse! Goodreads is so fun, it got me back into reading a couple of years ago as well. It's nice to read with others, I enjoy the TBR Twins and Buddy Reads a lot in this group. Audiobooks help me to read more than I used to as well.

What's your favorite Sci-Fi? Last year I read Children of Time and it blew my mind! So if you're looking for a new sci-fi to get you back into reading I'd highly recommend it.
