message 902: by Sai (new)

Sai Aishwarya Hi everyone,

Hope everyone is safe and healthy.

I'm from India. I'm interested in thrillers, crime and self-help books. I used to be a book-worm as a child. Then life happened. Between having a demanding full-time job, suffering from major procrastination and over-thinking, I would like to go against the odds to rediscover my love for books.

I'm hoping to find and interact with people who share an equal love of books and to make the whole journey fun !!

Thanks

Alaina (ameserole) | 255 comments

Hello Everyone!!

My name is Alaina and I'm from Virginia. Well, Northern Virginia - aka NOVA, to be exact. I tend to be a hot mess when it comes to books because I'm constantly trying to switch it up with different genres. I feel like when people read the same genre over and over they fall into the dreaded slump. Luckily for me, I've yet to get into this.

Keyword: yet.

Not sure what the future holds for me but as long as I enjoy or dare I say - love - the books that I'm reading then I'm one happy camper. As for goals, lately I've been trying to read about 1,000 books per year. So far I'm really behind this time around and I can't really blame it on all the COVID stuff. For some reason, I'm taking my time and enjoying each word/page.

I'm sure I'll pick up the pace and somehow meet the goal I made but if not, then I'm good either way.

Other than that, I'm super friendly and honestly love getting book recommendations. Even if it takes me 500 years to get to the book. Hoping to connect to someone, if not all of you, within this group! I also love buddy reads.. so I'll read anything and everything.

Hi! I go by KJ here (initials), and I’m a homeschooler from Washington State, US. I like any genre of book as long as it’s appropriate, but fantasy and sci-fi get extra points from me. ;) I stumbled across this group while updating my status and poking around on Goodreads. My reading goal for this year is to read 100 or more books. I’m a little more than halfway there. I’m excited to see what this group has in store for me!

message 907: by Nadine (new)

Nadine (httplatte) | 36 comments Hello! I'm from the Philippines. I haven't read a lot of books (since I only read fanfiction before), but so far, I'm enjoying young adult and some transgressive fiction. My reading goal is 12 because I became active again in May, but I'll increase it if I reach my goal sooner. I also want to read more classics, historical, and horror books.

message 911: by Grace (new)

Grace Chapman (_graciereads) | 1 comments Hello! My name is Grace and I have just joined Goodreads for the first time :)

I'm from Birmingham, UK and have always been a big reader. I studied literature at university and have slowly been re-learning how to read for pleasure over the past couple of years. Going into lockdown and being placed on the UK furlough scheme back in March handed me A LOT of free time and I have been spending this time reading everything in my to-read list!

I have very broad tastes in books really! Currently, I find that I'm reading a lot of fantasy (massive Potter head over here) and horror which is weird as I have always HATED horror movies. I'm in quite a big Stephen King deep dive at the moment which I'm LOVING.

My 2020 reading goal is currently 40 books but I might up that later in the year. Let's see how I get on :)

Jordan Vallejo | 3 comments Hi, all!
My name is Jordan Vallejo and I am a 20-year-old college student studying to be a middle school English teacher. I am currently studying at Morehead State University in Kentucky, USA.
Admittedly, I wasn’t serious about reading until quarantine happened. Now, I’ve been reading a new book a week!
I’ve managed to get about halfway through my goal of 50 books this year, but now that school is about to start back up, I’m not sure how often I’ll be able to keep up with daily reading. Hopefully by joining this group, I’ll have more motivation to keep going! I also hope to meet some new people and make some fellow reader friends who can recommend some good books my way :)

message 916: by Geraldine (new)

Geraldine | 24 comments Hi everyone

I'm Geraldine and I live in Ireland. I really enjoy reading, and although I've used Goodreads as a personal reading log for some time, I'd like to see more of the community spirit by joining this group. I like contemporary fiction, classics, history, travel, biography and occasionally books with a more political theme. My reading goal for the year tends to evolve over the year- I go through phases where I spend lots of free time reading, and other times, I might not read for days or even a few weeks at a time. Right now, my goal is to meet my average read of the past few years, 32 books, but that will probably increase to 35 or more if I have another committed reading spell! Looking forward to some good discussions and recommendations!

Pam Hi! My names is Pam and I’m in & from the UK.

I enjoy fiction - nothing gory or scary and I usually try to avoid out and out romance.
For some reason I have a fascination with non-fiction on anything to do with China.

I found the Group while having a browse through ‘Communities’ and thought it might be nice to have somewhere to talk about the books I read.

Paromita Mitra Hi I am Paromita from India. I like thriller and horror books. My reading goal of 2020 is 12 books but thanks to this lockdown situation I think I will more books than that. I am new to goodreads. I would love to make new friends. Hope you all are doing good.

message 922: by Holly (new)

Holly (lerxst-ohio) Hi everyone. Glad to be here! Found the group by searching on Goodreads for a good group to join. 😊

I am Holly, and I live in SW Ohio. I work full time as a geek for the USAF and part time on the side for a publisher proofing books. I am a runner and love music and reading.

I like to read many different genres, but mostly mystery (all types: crime, cozy, police/procedural, detective, etc), SciFi, Fantasy, classics and some thriller and horror (as long as they aren't super gory and gross). 😂 I read a mix of e-books and books on dead tree. I generally have 2 or 3 going at the same time.

Earlier this year, I got the Libby app and listen to audio books while I run. That has upped my book count significantly! SO glad I found out about that app...I love it!

Looking forward to all the posts and challenges here! 📚📖

message 923: by Marleen (new)

Marleen | 957 comments Hi everyone! I'm Marleen, and I'm from the Netherlands. I used to be a real bookworm when I was young, but during my university days that dwindled until I hardly read at all anymore. I really want to pick it up again and this year I'm slowly getting back into the habit.
My current goal for the year is a very modest 12 books (which is already a lot more that I've read the last few years). My favorite genres are scifi and fantasy.
I joined Goodreads last month and am joining this group for more reading motivation and because you seem to have lots of fun challenges.

message 924: by Allison (new)

Allison (anantrim) | 1 comments Hello! I'm Allison from the Kansas City area in the U.S.

I like to read middle grade novels and adult fiction, and my favorite genres are fantasy, cosmic horror, and historical fiction. I also read cookbooks, and lately I'm getting into more nonfiction of all types.

I found this group while updating my Goodreads groups! I'm looking forward to tracking my own challenge(s) here :)

message 925: by Pages of Lucy (new)

Pages of Lucy (pagesoflucy) | 1 comments Hello! My name is Lucija (you can call me Lucy). I'm from Croatia (city called Split, Europe).
I like to read everything except SF and fantasy. My reading goal is to read good books and to - ENJOY. I don't like numbers in any way and certainly not when it comes to books because I think number is just a number. My main goal is to enjoy :)
Altough, I decided to read at least 60 books in this year (my GR challenge, but as I said, we will see, not that important :) )

message 926: by Mason (new)

Mason | 44 comments Hello I am Tabby,

I read mostly YA, I don’t have a favorite genre I just kinda bounce around till’ I find something I like, but most of the time I read WWII novels or Fantasy novels.

I usually set my goal for 30 books a year, but I just joined goodreads a month ago, so my goal is 15. I am dyslexic, so please be gracious if I spell something wrong, read something wrong, or it takes me longer to read.

I like all things Art related (Singing, Dancing, Writing, Drawing, etc.) I joined this group because you have a lot of challenges that go on through out the year and I like to do challenges,

message 927: by molls (new)

molls (mollylouise99) Hi everyone! I'm Molly and I'm new to the group. I'm from the Isle of Wight, an island about 2 miles off the south coast of England and I like to read a lot of different books. At the moment I'm reading a lot of classic literature and political non-fiction but I also love dramas, fantasy, thrillers, crime novels (and have such a soft spot for dystopian YA). Recently joined Goodreads as I've realised my social media usage is completely unhealthy and draining to me, so I want to start having a more positive and educational experience online, especially as I go into the final stretch of my university studies; I found this group just by browsing and I thought it would be a great place to start! My reading goal for 2020 is 25 books (I've spent most of this year only reading module books, which don't really count to me, and will be again from October onwards) which I'm hoping to meet over the summer... I look forward to discussing books and reading with you all, thank you for having me!

Hi Andrea, I'm so sorry to hear about your friend, that kind of loss is just unimaginable and I hope that this group can at least provide some small sense of distraction for you... I also love historical fiction (blasphemous from a history student perspective, but I don't care) and would love to buddy up with you to read a book maybe sometime :))
Best wishes

emily pipet Hello,
I’m Emily and i’m from England.
I’m not very fussy when it comes to books, I read a range of books from different genres but I think I probably read mostly fantasy, YA and thrillers maybe horror as well.
I found the group through Emily Fox.
My 2020 reading goal was 12 but i’ve surpassed that so now i’m just trying to read as many unread books on my shelves as possible. I would also like to explore more genres, authors and read more non-fiction this year.

Sarina ❣️ (readswithrina) | 4 comments Hey GoodReaders! :)

My name is Sarina,
I’m 26 and from Sydney, Australia!

Before this year, I had never really ever read a book! This year I’ve set a challenge of 20 books and I have read 7 (almost 8) so far!!!

I really am enjoying novels based on true stories, autobiography’s, thrillers and classics...however would love to explore more genres such as fantasy and more.

My inspiration for reading is to that I use to love watching Matilda by Roald Dahl and seeing her read and feel so comfortable being in her own zone, away from the bad in the world... also to gain more knowledge and experience.

I found this group by random!

Hello All! My name is Anika Aze. I live in Germany. I joined this group to challenge myself to read more and learn about good new books.
I love reading memoirs, biographies and autobiography-based fiction.
Let me first read other posts to see what a realistic reading goal for me would be. A great limitation I have to reading is an eye issue I have. So, I listen to audio-books a lot too.
Good day!

Nikita D’costa (book-keeda) | 1 comments My name is Nikita and I'm originally from India, living in the UAE since 2009.

I came across this group while browsing.
my reading goal for 2020 is 20 books out of which i have finished reading 15 till date. hoping to increase the number of books and challenge myself further.
happy to connect with you all.

message 938: by Shannon (new)

Shannon (shantastic_reads) Hi, there! My name is Shannon and I'm from Indianapolis, IN, USA. I've always been an avid reader, but I went through a period of a couple years when I fell out of it. Becoming a mom, working full time, dealing with life's challenges left me too tired for reading for fun, despite my love for it. Then late last year I got back into reading novels and haven't gone more than a day or two without picking up a book since. I enjoy many genres, including the classics, contemporary fiction, historical fiction, fantasy and sci fi, YA, non-fiction, and I'm a sucker for mysteries. In fact, it was a Jane Harper book, The Dry, that got me back into reading again. My goal is to read 50 books this year, and I'm almost on track. I've been wanting to discuss the books I'm reading but that's one thing that has been missing, which is what brings me here. Looking forward to connecting with others about some great books!

Maxine Gross | 16 comments Hi Everyone!
I’m Maxine from New York City. I normally really enjoy reading both YA and Adult contemporary fiction and romance. I also love mysteries and thrillers! This year I have been trying to read 50 books, and I am already at 28, so I am feeling more confident! I have also set a personal goal to read more fantasy and am enjoying trying new genres!

Anna Marie | 3 comments Hi All!

My name is Anna and I'm coming to you from the midwest. I'm 11 books in to my goal of 20 for the year and started having trouble finding books that I'm really connecting with and that hold my attention (I think as a result of stress from current life in 2020) but this group sounds great and I think it will really help.

Fantasy, either YA or adult, is my favorite genre. Magic, futuristic stories, sci-fi, adventure, anything that takes me out of the norm is usually what I gravitate to though I am open to reading other things as well. Holly Black and Katherine Arden are a few authors I really enjoy in this genre.

I generally love to read and I really enjoy finding others to talk about books with, share ideas and trade recommendations so I look forward to connecting with others here! I'm also a big fan of the GetBooked podcast.

Hope everyone is staying safe and well! xoxo

I'm a disgrace and I need to regain my honour. Currently I'm open to all genres, but my personal favs are fantasy and mystery. If any of y'all are up to buddy read throw me a message.
