Introduce Yourself to the Group - 2020

love to read sci-fi/fantasy,horror and young adult
showed up on my feed
read as many books as I can

My name is Lisanne (or Lis) a 22 year-old English language and literature major from the Netherlands. My favourite genres are YA fantasy and historical fiction, but I also love to read poetry, romances, sci-fi and non-fiction books about biology, psychology and neuroscience, and am always willing to broaden my horizons.
Looking forward to joining some of these challenges 🙋🏻♀️

So, here I am, as a newbie, to welcome the world of reading and of course, books
PS: I am a huge Fandom girl and love Harry Potter probably to the end of this galaxy

I'm big fan of Shakespeare, Orwell, and Ray Bradbury
now, can you guess my favorite genres??

I read pretty much everything as long as the story and the characters are promising. But my favorites are psychological thriller, mysteries, horror, and romance (because I am writing a romance novel).
Found this group by accident. Anyways, my reading goal is just 50 books for 2020. Hope I could surpass this number or reach my quota because I'm a slow-ass reader.

My name is Anamarija and I come from Croatia, Europe. I'm 15 years old. I just recently joined Goodreads and the book community in general. My favourite genre is YA fantasy. The reading goal I have set for myself this year is 30 books but I might have to change it since I've already read 23 books this year. A few weeks ago I started reading The Mortal Instruments and The Throne of Glass series and I hope to get to read all the books in the series since here in Croatia not all books are available. Anyways, I'm here to have fun and discuss books with people from all over the world. Have a nice day and maybe we could be friends?

I'm currently going back to school to finish my graphic design degree and I was googling the reading challenge for a project I'm working on and this group popped up. It looks so cool with all the challenges and being able to find buddies to read with, so I had to join.
My goal for 2020 is to read 32 books! This is my 7th Reading Challenge to do on Goodreads. I enjoy tweeting/instagramming my books after reading them (@ladybrabra).
I enjoy all kinds of books tbh, but I love a good YA dystopia.

Hi Nova! My goal is 32 books this year too! I love dystopians also, what's one of your faves?

Welcome so happy to have you!

Welcome so happy to have you!

my name's Martha and I live in Munich, Germany.
I joined this group a few weeks ago but I shied away from introducing myself, because no one in this group seems to be from Germany. Maybe goodreads isn't as popular in Germany. Or maybe there's not many Germans in this group. Anyways, I realized what a stupid reason that was, not to introduce myself, so here we go.
My hobbies include reading (duh!), knitting and gardening. I occasionaly do yoga.
I don't really have a favourite genre when it comes to books. But I want to read diversely. So LGBT*Q+ themes, Own Voices, books talking about religion or books set in Afrika do generally tickle my fancy.

I like reading books of all types. This year I challenged myself to read books from 10 different genres which I finished yesterday. I've never been part of a book group before but I'm looking forward to joining in with the discussions.
I have a drastically reduced to-read shelf at the moment due to the second hand book stores all being closed. I'm so excited about the library near me opening on July 4th :D

In fiction, I enjoy magical realism, historical fiction, mystery/thrillers, and basically anything well-written and with a good plot. I'm also a sucker for all kinds of humor. My non-fiction interests lean a little darker and tend toward the psychology of people, whether that be crime, cults, women's issues or traumatic life experiences.
Since this is my first year for the challenge, I chose to read 20 books, since I'm not a super fast reader. I surprised myself by already completing my goal, so now I'm thinking about upping my goal. I'll update when I figure it out. Anyways, happy to be here with you all!

My the biggest passion is reading - from early childhood - and that´s why I´m here in Goodreads. I would like to find some tips on books or your favourite authors. My deepest dream was changed to reality and I work as a librarian. I´m from Czech republic (middle Europe). My reading challenge for this year is 130. My favourite genres are novels, psychology books, books about mathematics, detectives, psychothrillers or some popular educational books. Time to time I read sci-fi and poetry. The super book for me in last time was https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/4...

My name is Joseph and I'm new to the Denver, CO area.
Favorite genres are Thrillers/Spy novels and, more recently, more and more non-fiction biographies, business, self-help/personal growth.
Long time Goodreads app user but I've never used any groups and thought I would try one.
Set a goal last year of 25 books and exceeded that number so thought I would try a book a week for 2020. After changing jobs and moving to a new state, just a bit off target but I'll get there.

Hi Emma welcome! that is an awesome challenge. I would love to hear what books you decided to read in your challenge. I hope that you read 10 more books that are just as great.

Welcome Kat or is it welcome back! Congrats on finishing your goal. Remember it isnt about a number it is about having fun. You can be as active as you like we dont judge as long as you are having fun.

Hi Erin I think you and I will be fast friends. I love my dark books but need something light. Any recommendations on either or? I can ramble on for days but lets not. Welcome again and happy reading.

akacya! Welcome, I am so happy you decided to join us. I love your name. I am so glad to hear that your reading goal is going so well. Please let us know if you need any help.

Hi welcome so happy to have you join us. I hope that all the new things you have going for you go well and you enjoy every book you read.

My name is Ashley and I'm new to this group and here's a lil about me :)
I'm 19 (turning 20 July 27th!), I'm from upstate New York, I'm majoring in mathematics, and i love art and anything else creative, and the most obvious, i love reading!
I just finished reading Illuminae by Kaufman and Kristoff. I was amazing! It was actually the first Sci-Fi book I've ever read!
But i usually read contemporary and dystopian books. Also a lot of books about mental illness and topics of the sort.
I just got over a really intense reading slump and i'm so so so happy about it. My goal is to read at least 50 books by the end of 2020. I'm currently 5 books in, due to previously mentioned reading slump, but I've read three of those in the past 5 days, so i may have hope to achieve my goal! I need some recommendations on what to read next!

I am Shefali, I live in India.
My favorite genres are Mystery, Horror, Thriller, and sometimes Romance, Fantasy, Biographies.
I am looking for a group of people who are readers, So I found out the 2020 reading challenge group.
I am not a pro reader. I am interested to develop my reading and writing skills. Books can help to develop both. Reading any type of books gives knowledge to any individual.
Thank you.

I like to read practically every book under the sun. My favorite genres are historical fiction, romance, chick lit, YA, thriller/horror/mystery, crime/spy books, et cetera, et cetera. My favorite genres (I couldn't pick one!) at the moment are horror/thriller and romantic chick lit. I tend not to like self-help/religious nonfiction books, though I do recognize their value. Science fiction is also not my favorite, but I am more than willing to give anything a shot if it's recommended to me or just looks good! I'm looking to get more into fantasy and would love some "beginner's" recommendations for getting started in the genre!
I found this group perusing through groups on Goodreads. I've been looking for a group to join on here to help motivate me to continue reading. I tend to go through phases where I read 600+ pages a day for two weeks, and then I don't read for a month. I'm trying to find a healthy balance that is sustainable and maintainable even while I'm taking classes and working and stuff. I'm hoping this group can help me with that!
My reading goal for this year is 52. I'm trying to read a book for each week in the year! I'm currently at 41, but I know that once school and work start I'm going to be slowing down significantly.
One non-reading-challenge (but still reading!) related goal I have is to read books with not-so-pretty covers. I'm definitely a judge a book by its cover kinda gal, so I'm looking to change that! Ugly covers, come my way!

My name is Caoi (‘Kwee’) and I live in Sydney, Australia. My goal is to read over 40 books this year And I’m tracking well so far! I read in paper form as well as on kindle and sometimes will
listen on Audible. I love biographies, medical memories, general fiction, some chick lit and some non fiction on psychology or health topics. I tend to veer away from the classics having read and analysed so many, years ago at school and university. I’m open to different genres though and have started to throw in a bit of crime (but nothing too graphic!).
I started on goodreads not long ago as a way of finding new books to read and also to remember the books that I have read.

Hi Blagica, thanks for the response to my intro. it made me feel very welcome in such a huge group!
I try to challenge myself every year to something to keep my reading a bit more diverse. The books I read are listed on my blog if you want to look. --> http://afamilyagainsttheflow.blogspot...

Hi everyone I am Lo! I am from Dallas, TX (US). I love reading thrillers more than anything else but I do indulge in romance, YA, memoirs, and a very small number of non-fiction novels. I want to be more active on goodreads and I thought joining a group would be a great first step! My reading goal was 50 but I changed it to be more realistic and it is now 25. If anyone ever notices we are reading the same book and want to chat reach out! (:

I love Young Adult, Science-Fiction, Fantasy, Romance...
To be honest I’ve tried to avoid Non-Fiction in the past, but I have set a goal to try and read a few this year, alongside with trying to read more Classics, Mystery and Thrillers!
My goal is to read 50 books this year so wish me luck! And good luck to all of you as well <3

I'm from France and obviously if I'm here it's because I love reading!^^ I read a lot of different kinds of books actually, though it's a lot of fantasy, gothic, sf, mythology and philosophy but I read also quite some classics. I found this group by accident scrolling through the groups section. As for my reading goal it intialiy was around 40 but I moved it to 50, and I'm pretty sure it will be more in the end as I ended up reading a lot this sping ( lockdown and stuff ). So lets say I go for 66 ( because that's a nice number! XD )

I am from Norway
I like to read all kinds of books, but mostly fantasy, crime/thriller and self development.
I found the group by looking for groups to join :)
My reading goal this year is 12 books as I have not been reading for some years as I have been studying for my bachelors degree, and don't want to be sad if I can't reach my goal :)

I've been using Goodreads for fair few years, and actually been a member of this group for almost as long but never really been an active participant.
But since having my son and working full time, I've found a need to find some people to talk about reading with. All my old book friends have drifted away as life happened, and my my partner an current close friends just don't read the same way I do.
My current goal is 60 Books this year and I am currently ahead of target so may increase this later on! Due to lock down I have purchased a ridiculous amount of books, you name it I probably have it! And would really like to do some buddy reads to get through my TBR!

Books were my first love and they have remained true to me over the decades of my life. I love them so much and I want to talk about them. I'm excited to be part of the groups Goodreads has to offer. And I love a good challenge so I'm sure this will be fun!

I am looking forward to discussing books with everyone.

suggest me some good and lengthy suspenseful book and i would love to try it!

I'm Tom, 29, from Telford, England.
I enjoy reading books from various genres, but I'm particularly interested in history, biographies, true crime and horror.
I found the group while hunting through the "Community" section in search of new groups to join -- and this was one of them!
My reading goal for 2020 is to read 100 books. Fortunately, I'm ahead of schedule on that, so fingers crossed I'll keep up the pace.
Glad to be on board and looking forward to discovering new books through this group!

I'm from the United States, I love sci-fi, fantasy, and fiction books, and I found this group while looking for groups to join after I first made my Goodreads profile. I wanted a place where I could discuss the things I read with others, and since my friends aren't really big readers, I ended up here, and I'm so glad I did!
My reading goal is to read 6 books by the end of 2020. I have already read one and am currently reading 2 others! I am not a big reader, and I plan to change that one step at a time.
Thanks for having me in your group! Happy reading and God bless you all<3 :)
