Ms. Tammy | 3 comments Hi, my name is Titi. I am from Florida. I have always enjoyed reading but adulting over the years has taken me away from my first love of reading. This Covid-19 pandemic has allowed me to rekindle my love for reading. I enjoy reading self-help books, domestic thrillers, crime thrillers, horror, and some fantasy. I enjoy reading authors who write adult books I am not really in YA. I found this group by looking at the community section of GoodReads. My goal this year is 25 books but I think I will be able to surpass that. I have just found Karin Slaughter's books and I am enjoying them immensely.

message 753: by Adriana (last edited May 28, 2020 11:26AM) (new)

Adriana (adry84) | 2 comments Hello everyone!
My name is Adriana and I'm from Brazil.
In the past I used to be an avid reader, especially in my childhood and in my teenage years. Then I majored in English and Italian at university, so I had the opportunity to read a lot in that environment. Later on, I started my professional career and managing my time (and finding time to read for pleasure and not for work) became harder and harder. Now I have a reduced workload because of the pandemic but, because of these stressful times, I've been finding it very hard to focus on my readings. I downloaded a few books, but didn't manage to read them through. That's why I though of joining a book club and decided to browse Goodreads as I've been a not-very-active member here for years. That's how I found your bookclub and when I say the book for was Dr Zhivago, a novel I've always to read, I decided to join.
I don't have a specific goal for this year. I would like to read more books than last year (which shouldn't be very hard). As for the books I enjoy, I think I'm pretty open-minded and I read classics, sci-fi, historical novels, fantasy, etc. In general, I'm open to reading suggestions ;)

message 754: by Agostina (new)

Agostina Hi! My name is Agostina and I'm from Argentina. My english is not great but I'm better at reading than writing, I'm mostly reading english books so nothing gets lost in translation and also because it's a great way to practice.
I used to read a lot but for some reason I stopped. This year I got back on it and wanted to join a group because I don't have anyone to talk about what I read. I think that sharing the things that you love with someone that has the same passion brings a pleassure maybe as good as doing it in the first place does.
Anyway, I hope this isn't so badly written lol. I try to read a little bit of everything, currently I'm reading a lot of romance but last month read a lot of fantasy. I really just pick whatever I think would put my mind in a different place, and maybe teach me something?

message 755: by Yasmeen (new)

Yasmeen (yazzieyaz1) | 6 comments Hello everyone!

My name is Yasmeen, and I am a college student at Portland State University in Oregon, USA. As I am a student, I value educating myself, and I do that through books. So, nonfiction or fiction based on truth are some of my favorite reads (though I believe that all fiction is based on some sort of truth). I also thoroughly enjoy the complete opposite of the spectrum: fantasy and sci-fi. And mystery.
Really, I enjoy almost anything offered to me.

I found this group through the community option on the Goodreads page because I want to be part of a group that will keep me accountable, and that will share others' reading journeys.

This year, my goal is to read twenty books. Right now, I am a little behind, but I am fully confident that I will reach it.

Woonmona Bhattacharjee | 1 comments Hi, I'm Woo.
So it's almost embarrassing that all these years, I kept away from Goodreads as a part of my personal resolve to cap my digital footprint because it seems to be quite a marvelous, uplifting platform. So finally I'm here thanks to Quarantine and also because I bought a Kindle while trying to avoid having to buy books in this lockdown. And that's why I'm here on Goodreads. Enough with my blabbering, I really look forward to reading with you all!

Francheska del Pilar (francheskadp) | 1 comments Hi everyone! My name is Francheska and I am a college student from Canada. I used to love reading as a kid but I must admit that social media, Netflix, and Youtube have taken up majority of my free time as a young adult. I'd like to make up for the lost time I could have spent reading all these years and I look forward to being in this group! :D

Kerrie Hurrell (craftykez) | 87 comments Hi Everyone I have just discovered this group on Goodreads. I have joined two other groups since March 2020 and am loving the groups and then I also found this one as well. I have never been a fast reader, infact all those years ago I was in remedial reading classes in school, but I've always loved reading. I am loving the fact that I am getting some many opportunities fduring lockdown to simply devour books. I reside in NSW Australia, I am 56 years old. 've been married for 30 years and have two dogs. I am excited to be here. I am loving meeting new book buddies. Thank you for welcoming me.

message 771: by Anna (new)

Anna Hruska Hi! My goal this year is to read 100 books which sounds like a lot (and it is) but I'm keeping ahead so far and hope to keep it that way. I enjoy fantasy, historical fiction, and realistic fiction. I've been trying to branch out more though, and during quarantine have become quite fond of listening to memoirs/collections of essays.

message 772: by Shreya (new)

 Shreya Gandharkar (shreya_gandharkar) Hello everyone!!
I'm Shreya and I'm from India. I love to read psychological thrillers, detective series, fantasy, classics and romance. I love, love to discover new books and friends and that has resulted me in joining this wonderful and friendly group! You may ask me anything you want~

message 773: by Libby (new)

Libby Millar Hi Everyone,
I’m from the state of Maine, in the Northeastern US. I love how this group’s members are worldwide! I’ve been a Goodreads member for years, but have recently decided to get a bit more involved. I’ve also just joined Anne Bogel’s online book club, The Modern Mrs. Darcy. I was an elementary teacher and reading specialist before my current gig as a stay at home mom. I’m an avid, lifelong reader and appreciate how the Goodreads Annual Challenge pushes me to prioritize reading in my life! Historical fiction is typically my genre of choice, but also enjoy Memoir, Young Adult, Contemporary Fiction and a bit of Mystery. Looking forward to being part of this community. Cheers!

message 776: by Avi (new)

Avi (astha183) | 1 comments Hey! My name is Astha and I'm from Bangalore, India.

I absolutely love young adult, especially queer ones. I usually gravitate towards contemporary and fantasy novels. Generally, I enjoy books that are very character-driven.

I found this group when I was scrolling through a list of groups on Goodreads.

I started using Goodreads much more often this year. I discovered the reading challenge and I thought it was really interested, so I set it to 25. This month I hit that goal, so I decided to up that goal to 52 and I'm very excited to hit it. I think this group has a lovely approach to that!

message 777: by Cat (new)

Cat (spazc) Hello, I am Cat from the US (Denver), I usually read horror and mystery books, only started reading more books in the last couple of years. I was struggling to find something that I enjoy for a long time and felt bad not finishing a book that I didn't like. But after reading more reviews on Goodreads, it made me realize we don't always have to like what everyone else's fav or the most trending books out there. Goodreads has helped me with a lot of book buying decisions and I love it :)

Trying to increase my goal to 12books this year (I think I finished 8 books last year). Wish me good luck!

I found this group by browsing through the community tab.

message 778: by Gin (new)

Gin Slowly getting back into reading for pleasure after a long absence. Due to work and other commitments, I set my goal for 2020 at 12 books (1 per month). I'm definitely going to achieve this soon, so setting my goal to 24 books. Fingers crossed.

I am a full-time solo traveler whose only constant companion is books (the best companion I might add). I will read anything- true crime, memoirs, historical fiction, thriller, YA, nonfiction, sci-fi. ANYTHING.

My goal for this year is 150 books and am currently at 75. My friends don't read much, so I am excited to be a part of this group - especially for buddy reads!

message 799: by Helene (new)

Helene Hi I’m a Norwegian married to an Englishman. I have three kids and I love to read. I usually have at least one hard copy and one audio book at the time. I like to read just about any genre and if I love it I can read it more than once, hence my extensive book collection.

My goal this year is 80 books but I hope I can beat it by a lot more

I’m a stay at home mom with a husband that works offshore. When he’s working I read a lot more than when he’s at home.

I would love to buddy read with someone if anyone is interested
