Hi, my name is Tanishca Dwivedi and I'm from India.
I love reading Fiction and Fantasy novels. I love well written and inspirational biographies too!
I've been looking for a Goodreads group where I could share my reading progress and I stumbled upon your group.
I want to read 50 books this year, more than I've ever read in two years in the past :)

message 652: by Elliot (new)

Elliot | 5 comments Hello

I'm Ellie, I love reading and read all of the time. My favorite genre is fantasy, but I read all sorts of books. I joined Goodreads a few months ago and am very excited to join this group!

message 653: by evangeline (new)

evangeline I'm a little late joining this group, but I figured there is no time like the present!
I'm Evangeline, an aspiring writer from the UK. My favourite genre's to read are adventure fantasy fiction (of all ages) and my favourite genre to write is middle-grade adventure fantasy fiction! My reading goal for this year is 20 books, however, I reckon I will overtake that now due to being in COVID-19 lockdown! I joined this group as I LOVE reading about what other people are reading and what their thoughts are on certain books. I find it a great way to discover new books to add to my TBR list!

- Where are you from?
- What kinds of books do you like to read?
- How did you find our group?
- What's your reading goal?

BJ Magnuson Hello all! I would like to introduce myself I am BJM. I am from Wisconsin. I joined this reading club because I would have to say my “inner circles“ are not much of the reading tapes. My wife has a book club but it’s more meant for women... and more about drinking and less a about books(which is fine but I’m looking for more diverse books to read). At times I feel that my reading has becoming a guilty pleasure. I will be completely honest with you I am not a huge poster(this Is my second post ever) I will do my best to be a part of the group but please know that I enjoy reading comments and feel a part of the group. I am just not that publicly vocal. Trust me if you meet me in person am. :-). I have already read next months(Oceans theme book for April) book in and excited to talk about it.

Here is my Bio:
I have rekindled my passion for reading in the last year. I read a lot as a younger kid and took a hiatus for about a decade. Now, I have left the service(0311) married and a father of two girls(one is 5 years old and the other is 9). I am also self-employed with 20+ employees. I read for knowledge and pleasure.

Well on track to exceed my goal of 104 books this year!

Elena Akgül | 137 comments Hi, I am Elena. I am from Russia but I live in Turkey now.

I have loved reading since childhood, as I grew up in a family where everyone reads. I can read whatever I find interesting. Saying that I am especially into detection novels and thrillers. This year I started to read more non-fiction books as well.

At the beginning of the year I set up a goal to finish 40 books, but it will definitely be more than that, I guess I will be able to read 60.

I have found this group by search engine, as I was looking for a group providing different challenges

Elijah | 3 comments Hi all! I’m Beck and I’m from Seattle, WA. I’ve been on goodreads for a few years but haven’t been involved in any groups until now.

I enjoy reading psychological thrillers, mysteries, and nonfiction in the true-crime-y, memoir, tragedy/catastrophe sectors. I live primarily in the libby app and prefer audiobooks.

My reading goal is 52 books this year. Excited to start participating in this group!

message 671: by Gina (new)

Gina (ginabyun) | 5 comments Hello!

I'm Gina and I'm from Toronto, Ontario.
For 2 years I've been taking various reading challenges (which led me to this group!), but this is the first time I properly introduce myself here.

I enjoy reading fiction and non-fiction alike. This year, I'm leaning towards reading more non-fictions which I kind of neglected last year... Some of my particular interests are mythologies and history.

I'm hoping to complete the Popsugar Reading Challenge for 2 years in a row (40 out of 50 prompts). Aside from that, I'm also taking a reading challenge hosted by my local library. I'm also excited to participate in various reading challenges going on in this group!

message 672: by Emely (new)

Emely (emelym) Hi! I'm Emely. I'm from Dominican Republic but I currently live in Florida since I'm studying film here.

I like to read mystery, science fiction, erotic books. Maybe a little bit of romance in there. I'm getting back to reading this summer and want to open up to different genres and others.

As of now I just put on my page that I want to read like 20 books this year which would be more than I've read in the past but I want to go above that. Just read as much as I can and enjoy it.

I was searching for groups that I might be interested in and found this one on the top popular groups.

message 673: by L (new)

L Hi I am Louise, I am from England. I love reading, particularly historical fiction, crime and psychological thrillers and many of our classics along with contemporary fiction but I don't read a lot of romantic or chick lit.
I found this group by accident while scrolling .
I m setting my reading challenge at 50 books or more for the year.
I hope to get to know some of you in the next few months so feel free to add me
Take care 🤩

Potato (previously Ennie) Hi! My name is Erin and I'm from Australia. This year I hope to read more and perhaps dabble a bit here and there. I usually read fantasy, romance and contemporary books (but am trying to broaden my scope a bit).

I'm currently studying nursing (pray for me) and basically just want to nap 24/7. :)

message 676: by Rebecca (new)

Rebecca | 15 comments Hello, I'm Rea from New Jersey. I used to be an avid reader as a kid but recently I've read for enjoyment less and less, partially due to required books for school and partially because I haven't prioritized it. Now that I have a bunch of extra indoor time due to quarantine, I decided to challenge myself to read every day, even if only a little bit. Got to make use of my Kindle!

I love fantasy, sci-fi, thriller, and horror novels, but really I haven't explored that much beyond YA and would love to do so this year. Looking forward to expanding my horizons with classics I never got to, reading challenges, and potentially group readings and discussions :)

message 677: by Raimondo (new)

Raimondo Lagioia (raimondolagioia) | 120 comments Hi, I'm Raymond from the Philippines. I've always loved reading but never really had much time for it. Now that I do, I'm gonna gorge to my heart's content. I like the gym and sleeping a lot too btw.

I'm into the classics, strategy, self-betterment, health, history, mystery, and some horror. I especially like decadent books by Louÿs, Huysmans, Gautier, (early) Rice, etc. Maybe I'd get to know readers with similar tastes here.

message 678: by Bill (new)

Bill (billinmd) | 3 comments Hello,

I'm from the U.S. (Maryland). I'm most interested in memoirs, autobiographies, biographies, true crime, current events, and fiction. I heard about this group as a longtime member of Goodreads, wanting to connect with other members. My goal is to read 25 books this year, and I have read 11 so far.

Bill

message 679: by Simbarashe (new)

Simbarashe (simb3rrr) | 15 comments Hey everyone, my name is Simba and I'm from Harare, Zimbabwe.

I like reading mostly historical fiction because Anthony Doerr's All the Light We Cannot See set me on that path. I also like Young adult novels and poetry anthologies.

I stumbled across this group when I was looking for groups to join to improve my reading habits.

I hope to read more than 15 books for now. We'll see, maybe at the end of this week my goal will be up to 20 :)

message 680: by Susanne (new)

Susanne Hey everyone!

I'm Susanne from Austria and I'm quite new here on Goodreads. I have set a reading challenge for 24 books this year.

I mostly read Fantasy and Science Fiction, with a little bit of everything else mixed in between and I hope to catch up on some classics this year... I work as an architect so I read a lot of architecture and city planning books as well.
I prefer reading books in the original language whenever I can, so I read both in English and German.

I'm looking forward to conquering my first yearly challenge and hope to make some friends here to inspire each others reading.

message 681: by Dikshita (new)

Dikshita (Nightime BookNerd) | 206 comments Hi guys! My name is Dikshita Damodaran and I am from India. I
I had been on Goodreads for a while. But I never used the app regularly. Due to work related commitments, I also lost touch with reading regularly.

Now during the period of quarantine I have decided to change that. I plan to make reading a part of my life like before because there is nothing else that gives me more joy.

I also plan to be regular on Goodreads now. This is the best way to know about the reviews and to decide my TBR. I have given myself the challenge of reading at least 25 books this year. If possible, I want to read more than 25 as well.

I am a person who reads all the genres in general but my personal favourites are Fiction, Fantasy and Thrillers.

I hope all of you are safe and healthy. Happy reading to all of you.

My name is Ria, and I'm from England. I found this group whilst scrolling down the community section and thought it would be a good idea to join to help motivate me in reaching my goal.

I've fallen out of touch with reading, but really want to get back into it as I loved doing it so much when I was a kid. My goal is 15 books, but I will definitely be aiming to read more.

My favourite books to read are YA and Crime/Thriller. I definitely want to branch out into other genres like fantasy or dystopian, I just don't know where to start!

Dani | 2 comments Hi I'm Dani I'm from the U.S and I've been bored out of my mind stuck at home, so I figured I'd join a book group! I'm currently in college, so a lot of my books recently read were not for leisure but generally, I love anything science fiction and fantasy (however, I'm trying to broaden my horizons for genre a bit).

My book goal this year is around 22 books.

message 691: by Brenda (new)

Brenda (gd2brivard) Hi everyone, I'm Brenda. I'm not new to Goodreads, but just found this group. I liked what I saw on the bookshelf and look forward to meeting new people and reading more books. I am an eclectic reader more than anything, as long as the story is interesting and well written I will read it, but I do gravitate to classic lit more so than not. I have a reading goal of 50 books for the year, but don't as yet participate in any challenges. Since being more active on Goodreads at the beginning of the year, I generally have based my reading schedule on the BOTM or Buddy reads as I'm enjoying reading & discussing with others.

message 692: by Philippe (new)

Philippe Demougin | 1 comments Hi I'm Philippe from Canada, although I now live in Wales.

A friend of mine did the 2019 Challenge with one book per week (i.e. 52 in the year) and I though that sounded great but never got round to joining. I love to read but rarely seemed to find the time.

By March 2020 I had read two books slowly, but enjoyably. I then bought a few books for a little holiday and it really sparked something again. I've really enjoyed reading a lot again in the last couple of months. So, by the end of April I had read about 12. So I thought: why not try to actually complete the challenge in 2020. I've now read 16, I think so only a couple of books behind schedule, and I'm really enjoying myself.

I found the website and am exited to join the group. Might be fun to be on this journey with others. :)

In terms of genres, I've always loved to read Fantasy books, as a kind of escape. I've also liked Philosophy and Spirituality to deepen my experience of life and think more contemplatively. I still like those themes, but more recently I'm reading more in Psychology around habits, motivation and change, as well as around Organisational change and culture. I also really enjoyed reading Sapiens recently and plan to explore other scientific areas.

Anyways great to join the group! :)
Philippe

message 693: by Laura (new)

Laura Wild | 2 comments Hi everyone! My names is Laura and I am from the USA. This is my first group:-) I LOVE reading and have recently been learning everything the goodreads app has to offer, like groups and goals. After having kids I lost track with reading for pleasure. If I was reading it was a textbook when I changed careers, a children’s book, or some kind of guide to being a single mother.

Now that my kids are a bit more self sufficient, and of course the stay-at-home orders, I’ve finally been able to get back to what I love, books!

I will be getting married next year to a wonderful man who has been there for my children and me when no one else was. We have 3 dogs, 3 cats, and 3 guinea pigs.

message 694: by emilia (new)

emilia | 29 comments hello!

I've been on goodreads since year 2011 but I just found this group now. I've mostly just tracked books I've read here and also looked for more interesting books to read.

I live in Finland and I've been reading since I was a 5-year-old. when I was young, I pretty much read the whole library through we had in our town... at some point my reading got a lot more irregular but after turning 20 I started to read again more. sometimes I read less, sometimes more, it really depends on what happens in life.

I work in media and I love photographing. I also love plants, asian food, music and gigs, vintage furnitures, adventures, exploring new cultures and reading about mysteries.

when it comes to genres, I'm not really picky but I guess I mostly read just fiction in general. I especially love mystery and fantasy books, and books that have history in them. I really love exploring new books and genres and that's why I'm here!

I found this group, because I was looking for how to track books other ways than just by amount - I sometimes read really long or really short books so I'm not sure the "official" goodreads-challenge works for me, I sometimes feel kinda pressured to get that goal done I've set. then I stumbled upon a "let's turn pages" -challenge and I loved the idea.

my reading goal this year is 52 books. I wanted to challenge myself but I'm kinda regretting it because I've been reading longer books and I'm already behind like 5 books... but I'm gonna take my time and maybe lower the goal if I can't keep up - I still want to enjoy reading. I'm also gonna explore the challenges here and find the ones I love!

message 695: by Katerina (new)

Katerina | 6 comments Hi everyone, I'm Katerina from Switzerland. I've tried different bookish challenges here on GoodReads, but it was just too much pressure to read a ton of books at once, or to follow complicated rules. This group looks much more chilled!:)
I'm a Bookcrosser, by the way! My challenge is to read 10 books per season.

I am Maria from California.
I enjoy reading fiction, mystery, thriller, humor and classics. I have used Goodreads as a way of tracking what I have read, review the year’s best books, and seeing what my friends have read. I found this group by chance. My reading goal is 25 books, but I am already 1/2 way done. I hope to surpass it by reading 30 books or more.
