message 451: by Anna (new)

Anna (annabergb) Hello to everyone! My name is Anna and I'm a 23 year old girl from Norway. I'm a full-time history student and I spend my time off the clock reading other genres. When it comes to favorite genres I really don't have one and I've never been very picky. A good book can be found in all genres, at least in my experience.

I'm looking forward to try some of the challenges and hopefully getting to know some of you! My goal this year is 40 books

message 452: by syd (new)

syd | 3 comments Hello! I’m 19 and from Virginia (near DC) and I’m currently a college student majoring in film production. My two favorite genres would be Fantasy and Young Adult, and I’m hoping this group chat will help me expand my horizon on different books!

Desmond Shepherd (desmondshepherd) | 3 comments Hi I'm Desmond.

I typically read science fiction. And since fantasy. Lots of Star Wars books.

This year, I'm looking to read at least 15 books. I've got two in. So I imagine that won't be a hard goal to reach.

El • Your Average Bibliovert | 12 comments Hi! I'm Ellie, or El, and I found this group when I was was trying to find a place for buddy reads. For the past couple years, I've been in and out of major reading slumps so I'm trying to work on changing that. I'm hoping that reading something with someone else or a group of people will help me with this so I'm excited to be a part of this group!

message 456: by Francesca (new)

Francesca (readingbumblebee) | 2 comments Hello! I'm Shannon, 19, from the UK.

message 458: by gabu (new)

gabu (gabugabriela) Hi!
I'm Gabriela and I'm from Portugal.

I'm currently really into classics, but overall I haven't yet been able to decide what kind of books I prefer! I enjoy most genres.

I'd like to read as many books as I can while also keeping up with college, so I set my goal to 30 books this year.

I hope this group will help me get the most out of goodreads. I think this app should be more than just a book tracker.

And most importantly, I'm hoping to meet people who share my interest for books here <3

message 469: by Chantal (new)

Chantal Allard | 9 comments Hi guys! I'm a new member here. My name is Chantal and I'm from Gatineau, Quebec in Canada. I read anything, but my interest are mostly fiction novels, suspense novels, true crime, world conflicts, etc.

I used to read so much when I was younger and found that as I grew older, with adult responsibilities. I told myself I didn't have the time to read as much. In reality, I think I was giving myself an excuse not to find the time to read and replace that with futile things . So, in order to change that and fall back in love with reading, I've given myself a challenge to read 30 books this year.

Through Google search, I came upon "Goodreads" and by scrolling through the website, I found this group.

I'm excited for my journey! Thank you for having me :)

message 474: by Bob (new)

Bob Adams | 1 comments Hello. My name is Bob. I am retired old guy living near Pittsburgh. I consider myself a bit avant garde despite my age. As an example, my wife of 41 years and I live in an energy efficient earth-sheltered house we built in 1983. We were way ahead of the curve on "green".

Both my wife and I are voracious readers of "real" books. None of that e-reader-flickering-screen stuff for us.

As a kid, I loved science fiction, but these days I prefer real science and and history and new ideas. I leave the fiction to the politicians. To spare you all from my major faults, loquaciousness and verbosity, I'll sign off now. Thank you all for making me feel welcome

Marika P. Elliott (marikapelliott) | 1 comments This is so easy. I have given up on joining the history group simply because I can’t get intro posted. I looked for months for a history group . No worries. Hi. Marika from Florida. . Luv 2 rd. Rd fast and furious If book doesn’t grab early, I shut it and move on, Luv thrillers, regency,. No sci-fi, paranormal. Luv nonfiction, history especially European, and war stories. Love spy stories and detective stories too. I set no goal, just read to relax and if it’s good it’s read nonstop.

message 478: by Stephanny (new)

Stephanny (mugglesndaleks) | 9 comments Hello Everyone! I'm Stephanny and I'm definitely late in joining the party...

I'm from New Jersey. I've been struggling to read books over the last couple of years so I am looking for motivation! I enjoy reading social science books (Freakonomics, Methland etc..) and conspiracy/thrillers (Dan Brown). But unfortunately I have not experienced a 12-hour-binge-until-you-finish-it like I did back in high school.

My goal this year is to finish 5 books and finish some that I started back in 2019.

Hello Marika. I have a question for you: when you say that you read fast, is it because of the amount of time that you spend on reading or is it because you actually use a technique for fast reading?

See ya.

YA fantasy and romance

The selection by Kiera Cass this series is amazing especially if you are into princesses and royalty

(Spoiler warning) Trigger warning Prince Maxon mentions being hit with his fathers belt past and present tense but there is no scene where this happens and in one Scene America cleans his back, nothing graphic

Matched by Ally Condie this series has no royalty

both the selection and matched are in the dystopian ? genre but are more light pg 13 nothing graphic is mentioned.

message 490: by Emma (new)

Emma (mistermooony) | 1 comments Hello! My name is Emma, I'm 23 years old from Sweden.

I found the group when I was looking for book clubs to join here on Goodreads. I used to be an avid reader up until a few years ago, but life has gotten in the way a bit and now I don't read as much. I am hoping to change that, though, and I so I thought - hey, maybe joining a group with a lot of other book lovers will help!

Lately I've been reading mostly non-fiction and SFF, but I will pick up anything as long as it sparks my interest.

My reading goal is to get to all those books I've been meaning to read, discover new things to love and just rediscover my love of reading!

Thaianna - Thai.Tea.Time.Reads (spvcexplorer) Ello everyone! My name is Thaianna I’m from Iowa (USA). I’ve been doing my own reading challenge for the last 2 years and this year I wanted to maybe share the experience with others. I read a lot of different things as I like to change it up from time to time but I really like Sci-fiction regarding space exploration hence my user name! I’ve been branching out a little bit from time to time reading new genre of things so I’m always looking for recommendations! Just finish a book called, “A Boy and His Dog at the End of the World,” C. A. Fletcher; which so far is my current favorite read of this year. My current is read is, “All the Birds in the Sky,” by Charlie Jane Anders - I like it so far! Hope by sharing what I read and even talking to others about books will help me reach my goal. So I’m excited to join the group!

message 499: by Cat (new)

Cat (apprehensivewolf) | 1 comments - From the United States

- Science Fiction, Fiction, some classics, also maybe mystery? I haven't read stuff from other genres, but I'm willing to try tho. I also have read some YA books, but they don't interest me as much.

- I just stumbled on this group while I was looking for groups to join.

- I want to read as many books as I can this year. I'm kind of a fast reader if I'm motivated to read, but if I'm not I just don't read at all :( I want to change that
