- How did you find our group?
- What's your reading goal?

Jasmina | 2 comments Hi guys

I'm Jasmina from Belgium (Europe).
I mostly read non fiction books on Feminisme, imperialisme and polictics. I also love to read about reglion. However for 2020 I want to make it my goal to also read classic books.
I found this group by accident while scrolling.

message 3: by Siân (new)

Siân PJsAndBooks (pjsandbooks) Morning

I'm Siân from England. I love reading a range of books including Children's, YA, Murder Mystery, Paranormal and chick lit.

I've been a part of this group since I joined goodreads a year ago but am trying to be more active to get the most from goodreads. Though am struggling with the app.

message 4: by Matilda (last edited Dec 31, 2019 02:23AM) (new)

Matilda Tomatis | 20 comments Hi everyone!
I'm Matilda, from Italy.
I discovered this group while I was scrolling through goodreads in search of a community that would motivate me and give me ideas for next year challenge agaisnt myself!
My taste in books is pretty ecletic, what matters the most for me is the plot, I care really little about who the author is as long as the book is good... that's also why I can say that I have a favourite book but not a favourite author! I love reading books to learn new things (possibly about myself too) and discover new cultures, even though I never decline reading a book just for the pleasure of it!
For 2020 I want to make it my goal to read more than 26 books (n. of books i was able to read this year), to clean up "my unread bookshelf" and, as always, challenge myself with the topics of my readings!

The app is not ideal for groups, I would recommend using the website.

May | 2 comments Hello !

I'm May, and firstly, sorry if my english is bad at some point, I'm french (from France).
So, I've join this group to challenge me and read more ! Also, I wanted to be able to talk to you all about the books I've read, and share our point of view.

My goal is to read 20 books in 2020 or at leat 10. That's really challenging because it's my first year at the university, and recently I've been reading less than before.

I wish you all an amazing year full of wonderful stories !

Josie ❃The Bubbly Book Reviewer❃ (josie-the_bubbly_book_reviewer) Hi.
I’m Josie and I’m from Australia.
I’ve just discovered goodreads and I’m really excited about doing a challenge or 2 this year.
I enjoy reading fantasy, historical fiction and stories set in different countries around the world. I’m hoping to travel a bit more in this coming year and it’s so exciting to read about different cultures.
My first goal is to read books set in different countries and secondly to get out of my comfort zone with the types of books I wouldn’t usually read.
I’m a social person, but I live in a small town and I’m looking forward to getting to know people here.
Catcha all soon.

message 8: by Klaudia (new)

Klaudia (clowinka) | 3 comments Hi Bookworms!
I am Klaudia and I come from a small country in the heart of Europe, Slovakia.
I have just discovered this group and I really like to read a really good books. I can read anything from classics through fiction up to non-fiction. It really depends on my mood. This year I am hoping to read as much book as possible from my home bookshelves.
I love to read in English but I can read also in Czech and my national language, Slovak. I do not buy books in Slovak only in English as I have also a library pass (just for the purposes of reading in Slovak).
I am a serial bookworm, which means I have to read whole series if I start one.
Read you soon :)

message 9: by Nikki (new)

Nikki Frantz (nicoleraephotos) Hi all! I'm Nikki and I am a fourth grade teacher from Portland, Oregon. My taste in books is varied. I love suspense, mystery, historical fiction, modern fiction, etc. I also gravitate towards middle grade fiction so I know what to recommend to my students. I found the group by searching for the 2020 Reading Challenge and thought I might try it to see if the community aspect will help keep me motivated. I was able to pass my reading goal last year of 50 books pretty easily so this year I'm going to try for 100. We'll see how it goes!

message 10: by Alissa (new)

Alissa Patrick (apatrick12211) Hello all! My name is Alissa and I'm from Tampa, Florida.

I love to read historical fiction, thrillers, horror, YA, and nonfiction/memoirs

I found this group by checking for reading challenges!
My reading goal for 2020 is 100 books. I managed to hit 105 this year.

message 11: by K Reads (new)

K Reads Hi all, I'm Kaitlin from NYC. When it comes to books/genres, I don't discriminate, but a look at my bookcase tells me that I definitely have a few 'types' - fantasy, historical fiction, and thrillers being among them. I found this group when looking for the 2020 Pop-Sugar Reading challenge. Rather than just selecting a set # of books I want to read this year, I would like to challenge myself by trying books that I may not otherwise ordinarily read, and I think that the Pop-Sugar reading challenge will help accomplish that. All that said, my big goal is to read 36 books this year, which feels manageable considering my activity last year.

I look forward to seeing what everyone else is hoping to achieve next year!

message 12: by Michael (new)

Michael (bigorangemichael) | 9 comments Hello there, everyone!

I'm Michael. I'm a middle-aged, first-time dad who is passing along my love of reading to my three-year-old daughter. I'm hoping to read 52 books in 2020 after barely making it in with 50 books in 2019.

I look forward to seeing what everyone here is reading this year!

message 13: by Iona (new)

Iona Metcalfe | 2 comments Hello everyone, my name is Iona. I come from Scotland, live in Wales and work in England. I found this group whilst scrolling through Goodreads. 2020 will be my fifth year of setting a goal with regard to my reading activity and I'd like to read one book per week. The Goodreads challenges are great for me because I discover books that I most probably would never have read and I always enjoy them. I'm looking forward to meeting all you lovely people from around the globe and hearing what you have to say on the book choices. Happy Ne'er everybody.

message 14: by Ozzie (new)

Ozzie Silvers | 4 comments Hello, my name is Ozzie Silvers, and I am an addicted reader who also loves to write. I am hoping to read at least one book a week for 2020 and also hope to publish at least four more during the year.

message 15: by Thomas (new)

Thomas Hayes | 23 comments Hello - My name is Thomas Hayes and I recently moved to Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. I like to read literary fiction, science fiction, biographies, classic literature especially Russian literature, and books about Buddhism. I am joining the group because I want to be nudged towards books or genres that I might not otherwise read. My goal is to read 70 books in 2020. I managed 59 in 2019 plus a few I chose not to complete.

message 16: by Maeve (new)

Maeve Hi, I'm Maeve and I live in Ireland. I'm new to this group but I've been using Goodreads for the past 2 years to track my reading. In 2019, I read 25 books, and I finished my last book on New Year's Eve! In 2020, my family are doing a '20 for 20' challenge so that's what I'm aiming for, but hopefully, I'll get that goal by October or November.

My goals are to read more Stephen King and Terry Pratchett, as I was introduced to them properly at the end of 2019 and I absolutely loved their novels!

I'm so glad I found this group by accident. I'm really looking forward to reading some more this year!

message 17: by Robin (new)

Robin | 7 comments Happy New Years Everyone from Maryland! My name is Robin and I love to read when ever I can get the chance. I like a good mystery book and romance but not the racy type. Nicholas Sparks is my favorite. I am a big fan of Twilight (it helped to bring me and my daughters closer... that's how it started lol) I read a lot of young adult books because for me they are safe. Yes I know I am very old fashion. I have recently gotten into a James Patterson series about the Women's Murder Club. I found this group while I was in setting my Reading Goal for 2020 and was looking for a group to get involved with. I have set my Goal for 25 books. Life got in the way this year and I didn't read as much as I wanted to but next year I am hoping to do better. I set my goal for 2019 very small. I am finishing out 2019 1 shy of the goal I had set of 10.

Josie ❃The Bubbly Book Reviewer❃ (josie-the_bubbly_book_reviewer) Robin wrote: "Happy New Years Everyone from Maryland! My name is Robin and I love to read when ever I can get the chance. I like a good mystery book and romance but not the racy type. Nicholas Sparks is my favor..."

Hi Robin. I'm a bit the same with YA safe type books. Also my goal is only 20. Hope to see you around the group.

message 19: by Ronda (new)

Ronda Nichols | 687 comments Happy New Year everyone! I'm back for another year! With all the chaos in life I was able to read 54 books with just over 19,000 pages.

Busy mom of 3, full time high school teacher, real estate agent and now taking care of my mother in her bad health. I've got some lofty goals again this year with my escapes (reading), but Happy 2020!!

I'm going to aim for 60 books and 25,000 pages!

message 21: by Anneke (new)

Anneke (herzballon) Hello, my name is Anneke. I‘m from Germany and found this group while searching for some good challenges for 2020. After passing my reading goal of 2019 easily (70/25) I will try 53 in 2020. I will start studying again next year so there will probably not so much time for reading as in this year.

message 22: by Kitty (new)

Liquorice (liquoricedoggie) | 14 comments Hello, my name is Betsy and I'm from England. I love reading but find it hard to keep motivated by myself, so I decided to join this years challenge. I'm aiming for 24 books this year, and I'm very excited to see how I'll manage.
Hope you all have a Happy New Year !

message 25: by Lucie Renee (new)

Lucie Renee (lucierenee) | 41 comments Hi Everyone, Renee here from US.
I just accidentally bumped into this group while going to see what was happening this morning on the POPSUGAR thread.
I work part time in a library and go to several book clubs there so I read a wide variety of genres but I prefer fiction.
I'm aiming for 80 books this year.
Happy New Year.

message 26: by Chrissie (new)

Chrissie (haru_ran) | 1073 comments Hello everyone and Happy New Year!
I'm Chrissie from Germany and still pretty new to goodreads. I've always been an avid reader but over the last years I barely found or took the time to read until last year. The general reading challenge on goodreads and my huge pile of unread books motivated me to pick my habit up again.
I'm a pretty versatile reader and give every piece a chance. Aside from mangas I enjoy a good thriller, fantasy, historical and quite a few dystopian and classic reads.
I stumbled over this group whilst searching for challenges in general to keep my motivation up. In general I hope to finish all of my waiting books, but for this year's goodreads reading challenge I set my goal to 50 for a start.

message 27: by João (new)

João Sampaio | 1 comments Hello everyone.
May Jane is João, portugueses and 42 years old.
Just "subscribed" goodreads a few days ago, as a motive to read more, but mostly read good readings. I'm aiming for 20 books this year. Happy new year everyone!

message 28: by histeriker (new)

histeriker Hi everyone,
I'm Tamara from Germany. I like to read and tried several forums to meet people who like to read too. Now I ended here and tried to find a group I would like to join. I like it that your group is quite general, so I can read anything. I read a lot of genres (except of erotica) and in several languages. That's why I am looking for some inspiration.

message 29: by Laurie (new)

Laurie (camrosemom) Hi I’m Laurie from Alberta Canada. I signed up to Goodreads years ago and never really used it. Started again in August of 2019 and am loving it. Found this group in a Post on Facebook. I read lots and don’t have a favorite genre.

message 30: by Fira (new)

Fira (firechoco) | 1 comments Hi I'm Fira (pronounced like Feyre from ACOTAR). Also I'm from Indonesia.
I signed up to goodreads on 2016 but I never joined any group before. I stumbled upon this group when I browsed goodreads for new books to read on 2020.

My favorite genre is YA, fantasy, romance, rom-com, and thriller.

Last year I managed to read 82 books, which exceed my goal, since I was aiming for 75 books. Now I'm want to read 90 books for this year's challenge.

message 31: by Emi-Wan (new)

Emi-Wan Kenobi (emiwankenobi) | 4 comments Hi all!
I’m Emi from Texas (USA). I’ve been looking for a goodreads group to join for a while so I’m so glad to have finally found this one! I read primarily fiction, anything from Shakespeare and the “classics” to historical fiction and fantasy (Tolkien especially, but more modern things as well!). I’m also trying to broaden my horizons and I’m always looking for new, good books, so I love getting recs.

My challenge for this year is 25 books - not a huge number, I know, but I’m also about to be in my last semester of grad school, and exams have a way of making it hard to read as much as I want. And who knows, I beat my 2019 challenge by double, so who can say what will happen in 2020!

message 32: by Jeannine (new)

Jeannine | 223 comments Hello Everyone!

I run a book club with two friends and I'm an elementary school librarian. I also love to travel, spend time with family, and watch TV/movies. My go to genres include romantic comedies, romantic suspense, and fantasy, but I'll try anything.

Sophie Evelien DB Hi! I'm Sophie and I'm from the Netherlands. I mostly read in English, however I also read some Dutch books. I read classics, some thrillers, fiction, history and a mix of the latter two so historical fiction. However, I'm very open-minded which is another way of saying I'll read anything I can get my hands on.
I'm pretty new to goodreads (and I'm already trying to get a good friend of mine to set up an account as well!). I've set myself the goal of reading 100 books this year since I like a good challenge.

message 40: by molly (new)

molly (mollynlanguage) | 8 comments Hey! I'm Mark, I'm a queer teen from the US who likes to read and write in my free time. Last year, school caused me to fall into a reading slump, that I'm trying to get out of. This year, I'm trying to use Goodreads to stay organized and do bookopoly to keep me motivated. My reading goal is a book per week, so 52 books a year! I hope to meet some reading buddies here! My favorite genres are contemporary, romance (especially mlm), and chick-lit

message 41: by Sally (new)

Sally F (sally29) | 5 comments Hi there! I’m Sally and I currently live in the south of England.

My reading goal for this year is 30. I tend to veer towards the classics, but I’m going to try and read at least one 21st century book a month this year. I managed just under 60 last year, but that was helped by a few months sabbatical from my work.

I’m always open to reading suggestions and new friends.

message 42: by Andrea (new)

Andrea Cseh | 1 comments Hi, I'm Andrea from the US (Florida). I've used GoodReads as a personal book log for a few years but have never ventured past that.

I struggle sometimes to find time to read with my work/life/kids.... but my goal is 24 books this year (I'm NOT including professional books in that goal - just for pleasure).

My best friend just died unexpectedly a few weeks ago and I'm struggling with it. I'm a fairly introverted person and want to push down those walls more and move outside my comfort zone. So here I am!

I love suspense, some historical fiction, some science fiction/fantasy....I'm not very good at describing what I like to read though! Last year I love Greer Hendricks' books and Rachel Caine. I'm trying Tana French this month.

message 43: by Booksx (new)

Booksx (bookishlybaking) Hi there,

My name is Ammaarah and I'm from England. I love to read psychological thrillers, romance, and fiction in general. I would love to read more classics this year and my goal is 50 books (I hope I manage to read more though!). I'm new to Goodreads so would love to make some friends and buddies to read with :)

Hi! I'm Mich! I've been around Goodreads for a while but not active recently. Trying to reignite my reading life.

I'm mostly drawn WWI and WWII historical fiction, but I venture into contemporary fiction and romance when something catches my attention.

Good luck to all in their reading challenges!

message 47: by Lisa (new)

Lisa Corbiere (leereadsundertrees) Hello everyone,

I'm Lee from British Columbia, Canada. I have FND and an ABI (acquired brain injury). Losing the ability to read and write was devastating to me and so I insisted on incorporating reading (and writing) into my therapy plan. I have come such a long way and my passion for reading is driving my progress!

I participated in the reading challenge in 2019 with a goal of 20 books and I reached it just in the nick of time! This year I would like to read 50 books!

I love to read fiction: Canadian literature, mysteries and suspense. I also like to read non-fiction: brain health, health and wellness, psychology, meditation and mindfulness.

I found this group while searching for challenges to participate in for 2020. I'm not great with the computer and getting around Goodreads.... this is my first activity in a group setting (and I'm looking forward to the additional challenge!)

message 48: by Michele (new)

Michele Sutton | 21 comments Hi to everyone

My goal this year is 50 books as I don’t always have the time to read. I joined this group yesterday and am new to groups like this so please be patient with me cause I’m sure to make mistakes with commenting

I live in Toronto Canada the GTA more specifically.
I decided to fall back in love with reading, I love to read all genres.
I found this group by clicking around in the app.
My goal this year is to read 50 books roughly one a week.

I look forward to meeting everyone and being active in this community boom group.

message 50: by JLS10 (new)

JLS10 | 2 comments Hi! My name is Jill. I had my biggest reading year ever in 2019 (110 books/audiobooks). I don't expect to be able to read quite that much in 2020, so I've set my goal at 65 for this year. My TBR list is varied, and I usually have at a fiction book, a non-fiction book, and an audiobook going at the same time. I've been on Goodreads for awhile, but I haven't really gotten involved with Groups that much, so I've join a few at the start of the year an hope to get more involved with this community.
