I used to always wonder why authors used pseudonyms, but I understand it a little more now. I guess it helps when the author is known for one particular genre or series and wants to branch out into another genre. Or, maybe the author just isn't sure about the book so he or she publishes it under a different name. Stephen King uses the pseudonym Richard Bachmann. Dean Koontz used Deanna (I can't remember the last name). J.K. Rowling uses Robert Galbraith. And Nora Roberts uses J.D. Robb. I'm pretty sure there are many more.
