Bird Box/Haunted/The Strain which one is the best???

I have read The Strain and Bird Box, and they are like comparing apples to oranges. The Strain is the first of a trilogy, so if you don't want to commit to three books, I would go with Bird Box, instead. Bird Box is, however, more subtle than The Strain, so if you like your horror "in your face," you would probably prefer The Strain.
