Good to see new and familiar faces on the team. I myself have been a:
Tome Raider ⇒ House of Chains ⇒ House of Jaghuts!
Good luck everyone!

I've been anticipating the competition to restart so I'm ready for it. Going to finish my audiobook tomorrow and my physical book probably in the next couple of days. Need to check on the br threads to see which ones I can join asap 😊
I am currently not reading much, just in full finish-or-dnf mode for all my partials so I can start off with new reads immediately for 2020.

Past teams: Blood Eagles - House of Chains - House of Jaghuts

Now that Anni and I have decided to restart GotM together next year I'll also be starting with a clean slate. In fact I might have a few hours in the evening with nothing to read 😱😱. Unless I can use the excuse that its already gone midnight somewhere in the world lol

Yeah I'm also planning on restarting the Malazan series next year and marathoning it.

Argh, yes I'm sorry I'll catch up the beginning of January, promised!

(Also nearly replied on the sign up thread to say sorry then realised I'd be fucking up your thread again so purposefully moved over here!! :D)

I was thinking of marathoning, too, in a shorter timeframe than previous BRs went... I was going to do it alone, but if we have similar reading speed/scheduling, we could try it together... I was going to skip the novellas that lack audio, so maybe we can try something similar to Imperial Radch (which was a partial success)...

@Siobhan haha thank you <3 I think a lot of people forgot what thread they were in, hence the reason for the post. :)

It gets worse if you open a ton of thread tabs like me... sometimes I post a response in one tab meant for another... to disastrous effect...

Very strange, but yesterday I've finished all my books that I was still reading. So, starting with a clean plate tomorrow.

Oh, that's very tempting! I've been thinking on re - reading the first. I didn't got to the 2nd one. Is there allready a date in mind?
For next month I have 2 small books planned and 2 BR's for the first 2 weeks. I've been looking with anticipation to the start, but I will take it relaxed. Well, I hope, haha...

That's exactly what I do! Haha.

Thank you for letting me join, Jenna! :D And thank you, Maria and Anni! So excited to be a Jaghut!
Welcome all. I'll try and participate as much as I can. Glad to be teaming up with Jenna. When combining forces House of Jaghuts was a better name than House of Beagles but House of Tomes would have been somewhat cool. But Azaths rule!

Hi Saar Iain was right we did decide on February, probably near the start but an exact date wasn't discussed. Anni is booked heavily and I don't ever read the first books in series in January anymore so it worked out well. You'd be more than welcome to join us if you decided to.

House of Tomes sounds like House of Cards... Scott and Niki, and their (Malazan) political machinations...

We could definitely try that. The every other month timeframe was too stretched out for me too and I lost momentum.

This is a nice winning time that we have here.

LOL... I kinda started on Christmas, while waiting to head to lunch/dinner... listened to a page or 3, to reacquaint myself with Rachel, my robo-reader... then got sidetracked with other things... so I didn't really get into it at all...

You know me... I'll make it work... I've already super-booked myself, and 2020 was blank until recently... my free reading time is definitely shrinking... but I'm looking forward to everything I'm setting up, so it's all good...

Great :)
Despite Virginie distracting me for hours, this morning, on the spreadsheet, I'm close to ready...
Finished The Light of All That Falls this morning (last 9hrs of 31hr audiobook, disappointment, great epilogue)... and approaching the end of Worm (last 4.5hrs of last 20hrs of 190hr audiobook, rollercoaster megabook, glad to say I finished, in epilogue now)...
(gave 1x speed numbers... listened at 3x speed... did nearly 30hrs of audio today)
Staying up a bit late to finish, then I'll sleep and start fresh tomorrow morning around 4-5am (usually sleep around 7pm to 3am with my 4am to 12:30pm work schedule)... 7pm right now... not doing anything for New Years...

I finished two books yesterday and cleaned a bit my currently reading shelf and now I'm ready for all the books !

Argh! My evil plan failed! :p
Happy New Year team! I have one more book to finish off from 2019 before I can start adding to the challenge. Happy reading, everyone!

I am carrying 4 books into the new year that I didn't finish, but the good news is that with 3 of them, I'm on the cusp of completion.
The other is just a brick and will take a bit lol

I still have one book to finish that I started in 2019.
I'm also still considering how many books I should enter into this years GR challenge. Last year I did 100 books but I don't want to pressure myself this year. I'm thinking maybe something like 25 books, which should be really manageable and if I surpass it by a lot, well, all the better!
How many books are you guys planning to read?

Last year, I did 100 as well, but due to my new job I have less time to read physical books. I choose 75 for next year, 5-6 books a month sounds doable with shorter audiobooks and a novella here and there. :)

I say go with a number more in line with there being 52 weeks in the year?
26 = a book every 2 weeks... 39 is 3 books every 4 weeks...
You could also focus on months... 24/36/48

I've set it to 52 books for the second year in a row. I'm relatively confident I can do that without stressing out too much but if it doesn't happen I'll just reduce it later on in the year. I read 72 in 2019 but a lot of them were shorter books and not many of them were epic fantasy which takes me longer to read. I'm hoping to up my fantasy and scifi reading in 2020 so I expect to read a few less this year.
