Markoosie Patsauq, first Inuit novelist, who lived the history of his people, has died and his novel (which in my library is listed as a kids' book) Harpoon of the Hunter sounds fascinatinghttps://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/north/...
Louis Riel's great-grandniece Jean Teillet has a new book out: The North-West Is Our Mother: The Story of Louis Riel's People, the Metis Nationhttps://www.cbc.ca/radio/thenextchapt...
I've read 11 books but not in 10 categories so I have a few to go. For those interested in finding more books for "7. a book written by an indigenous author in another country", I came across this list today (though a few on it are Canadian):

Some of them sound really interesting. I'm particularly interested in "Sand Talk: How Indigenous Thinking Can Save the World " and
"When the Light of the World Was Subdued, Our Songs Came Through: A Norton Anthology of Native Nations Poetry"
My reading has been all over the place. I've completed 7 books and started 2 others but had returned to library just prior to pandemic...waiting to get back into them soon. So many to read...

Congratulations, Story❤️️! I am listening to the audiobook of Braiding Sweetgrass now, and find it very interesting and educational.

I'm learning lots too and have expanded my own challenge beyond books to watching films and TED Talks, attending a powwow and an indigenous education conference and an absolutely fantastic seminar with Monique Gray Smith. I'm looking forward to more books and experiences as the year goes on.
