I hope I can read them all. Some of the books on my list have been on my bookshelf for far too long.

Interesting list. I haven't heard of most of the people in it or their writings. I have read the Credo magazine edited by Matthew Barrett and have heard good things about his scholarship. All the best with your reading plan.

James Mitchell | 22 comments Great list everyone! Calvin on a Christian life is very good and a quick read I suggest reading it for sure. Teach your children to pray sounds interesting and I have 2 boys 3 and 5 so I could use that. I am currently reading the treasury of David by Charles Spurgeon it is 4 volumes and I am on the 2nd also reading soul Winner by the same author. I have never read paradise lost I may read it this year. I am leading 2 bible studies out side of church so my regular reading is going to be down.

George,
Many of the authors on my list lived over 100 years ago. Most of the authors are Reformed in theology or at least lean that way.

Thomas Sherlock died in 1761. He was a Church of England bishop who made early contributions to Christian Apologetics. I found this short book by him on Kindle and thought it would be a good book to read.

James Orr, was a Scottish Presbyterian who died in 1913. I discovered this book several years ago and have never read it so I put it on my list for this year.

R. A. Torrey was a contemporary of D. L. Moody. Torrey died in 1928. He was Dean of what would become Biola University from 1912 to 1924.

B. H. Carroll was one of the early presidents of the Southern Baptist Convention in the late 1800’s. He was a prominent Texas Baptist and was very influential within the Southern Baptist’s. He died in 1914.

Thomas Armitage I know nothing about. Wanted to read a history book about Baptists in America and I ran across this one.on Kindle. The book was published in 1893.

John Owen. You had the same book on your list so I am sure you are familiar with Owen.

Henry Morris was a very influential young earth creationist. . The book the Genesis Flood, which he co-wrote helped start the creation science movement. I have read several of his books on creationism. He died in 2006.

******

John Piper you are familiar with. I may read his Desiring God instead of the book I have listed.

Alister McGrath is a Christian Apologist from England.

Paul Chamberlain is a Christian Apologist from Canada, I had never heard of him but the book title caught my attention.

Michael Horton, Mark Dever and Matt Chandler are all influential authors and preachers among Reformed Christians in the United States.

I do not know anything about Hans Finzel or Matthew Barrett but their books caught my attention.

I've only read a handful of these so I'll have to checkout the rest. I don't usually make my list to many books in advance but I'm thinking a plan might be in order for 2020. Thanks for the post.
