Erica Wood | 3 comments Thanks for your interest, unfortunately none of the above are correct.
I read it probably about 10 years ago
Not sure when it was published
I'd say adult fiction
I believe the author was female, but I'm not sure as the main character (the teacher) was a female so maybe I am getting it mixed up.
The story was about a teacher that went out in to a remote village in Tibet. She worked with children who traveled from far villages to school. She worked in secret to make sure the possible Dalai Llama reincarnate child was hidden from authorities as children were being killed or were 'going missing' apparently at the hands of government authorities.
Not sure if this helps.

Thanks!

Erica, what's the time period of the story?

Can you tell us more about the female teacher - e.g., her age, home country/town, family/friends, how she learned about the remote village in Tibet, how she got there?

Erica Wood | 3 comments She was a local, so either Tibetan or Chinese, I'm pretty sure she arrived at the town for the sole purpose of finding and protecting the child, under the disguise of a teacher coming to work in the rural school.
Not sure if this helps at all?
