Too many books!

Totally understand the overwhelm feelings with too many books and which to choose next. I too, have way too many books, but ..... what can you do when you love books, whether paper or ebook, I have way too many of both :)
Love your idea of random.org to fix the which book next syndrome.

I like your idea to decide on what to read and how long. Though I'd check out the book and see if others say it takes more than 50 pages. Some of my favorite series took longer.

It will be hard for me to give up on a book so soon, I'm the type to keep reading to the end with the hopes it will get better.
There's only been a few books I couldn't finish, other times, like if the book was the first of a series and I didn't like it, I wouldn't read the following books. (I got an entire shelf dedicated to those with the idea of maybe one day I'll try the next one. Got to love those omnibuses.)
I'm sure that if it's a book that I really wanted to read, or liked the other(s) in the series, I'll give it longer.

I use to be that way. There is one series that the first three books were so so for me, then boom! Book 4 and now it's my favorite series and author.
I get you. Those omnibuses are some times a blessing or a curse.

Well, started to read, (goodreads is having issues today) not too bad of a start, smooth reading, pretty straight forward, and got to page 111, sadly though, I pretty sure I already know what's going to happen. It's the end of the world and it involves people, we all know how evil they can be... But I will keep reading this book.

Had a good start, about halfway through the book, then yesterday, don't know if was shoveling the snow, working on the computer too long, or if the neck just decided to remind me that it loved to make my life hell, but it did it thing, with a little extra tightness, and I was dizzy for most of the day. Neck is still tight this morning, a little painful too, but I am able to move without that spinny feeling. Hopefully, the stretches will unkink it more so I can read this afternoon. Book is kind of interesting, even though I've read others with the same premise.

They have little mirrors on them, so you can look/read without tilting your neck (they're described as for reading in bed)

Interesting, but for some reason, I don't think my migraines would like those. Might save on the neck, but not so much the eyes?

The Vampire Lestat (other topics)One Second After (other topics)
But that isn't the real reason. I've been having neck issues for 4 years now, and it makes reading difficult, painful and sometimes I get dizzy, and unless I'm doing something for a period of time, I'm not a fan of listening to them; I can't sit there without using my eyes for something.
So I am going to try something this year, (2020) with the hope that I can get back to my old self and read instead of sitting around watching TV.
I'm going to let random.org pick my books for me from my 'to read' shelf. But, because I have so many, I'm only going to be giving said book 50 pages/1 hour to catch my attention, and if it doesn't, it will be added to my 'gave-up' shelf.
I am going to have to set aside an hour a day for me to read. I know my neck issue deters me so much from reading, along with doing a lot of things, and I am missing those things I used to do, and those worlds I visited. (Sadly, I have yet to find a doctor who cares enough to do anything other than say the x-rays are fine.)
I really hope this works, because each time I look at all of the books I have yet to read, it breaks my heart, and I take another step down that depression staircase.
