ABANDONED. Cat waiting in apartment for elderly owner to return but dies (implied) of starvation.

Firstly, I already know there is a book of a dog who would wait each day for his owner to return from a train ride back home but the owner never returns because he died in an accident at work or something. The book was made into an American movie with Richard Gere. So i am not referring to that one.

This book, i could have sworn i saw as a YT animated movie (in single frame successions) or maybe i just imagined it?? I could be remembering details wrong but it involved a cat who would play with his elderly(?) owner and narration would be from the cat's pov. He would say how happy he was to have a great owner and loved playing with him -- cat toys and strings.

Each day the owner would leave -- maybe getting groceries or something. And the cat would stare out the window waiting for the owner to return. The owner one day has a heart attack or something and doesn't return.

Days go by and the cat has no food and although hungry continues to roam the house and entertain self. Then goes back to the window and says his owner will return any minute now but then says something a new line like he is going to go to sleep for a while -- implying that he is so weak from starving that he is going to die.

Any ideas?

Kinda sorta sounds like some parts from Scruffy, but that's dogs, not cats.
