Pick up both Cormoran Strike novels by Robert Galbraith, The Cuckoo's Calling and The Silkworm, they are very entertaining.
Take a look at the group Bookshelf, Anamil. You'll probably get many excellent recommendations there. Good luck.

I highly recommend C.J. Box's Joe Pickett novels. There are quite a few in the series. I've only had a chance to read a couple in the series thus far, but I loved them and plan to read more.BJ Bourg
Yes! love C J Box! Prefer him to Longmire actually...sometimes I think seeing a tv series or movie can ruin a book series for you...I liked the Jack Reacher series by Lee Child but Tom Cruise was SO wrong to play the part(for me) that now I cant help but envision him in the stories...Longmire was ok as he was more like I imagined but have to be careful in future! lol Also, Linwood Barclay is good.....
I just finished Karin Slaughter's last book "Cop Town." I've read all of her books, and I need a recommendation for a new author to start who is as good as she is! Please help, I am already going through withdrawls!
I googled Karin Slaughter and this is what I found, authors to read while waiting for the next Karin Slaughter book: I have read and enjoyed books by:
Denise Mina

Some other suggestions:
Kathy Reichs I have read Linda Fairstein...and like her....also Patricia Cornwell and Kathy Reichs--series on tv "Bones' is based on Kathy Reichs books
