Finished Bitter Sweet Love (The Dark Elements, #0.5) by Jennifer L. Armentrout it was alright, had some great concepts just also had a few things I don't love. Absolutely going to read the first full book in the series though.

Starting The Trouble with Demons (Raine Benares #3) by Lisa Shearin

read Middlewest, Book One by Skottie Young it was pretty meh for me.

message 360: by Gord (new)

Gord | 1001 comments Same. The art work was good but the story itself was just meh.

message 361: by Brittany (new)

Brittany | 6451 comments Mod
Exactly Gord! There isn't enough story. The art though I am all for. Did you read on? Did it get any better?

message 362: by Gord (new)

Gord | 1001 comments I read the second volume and the story was still meh

message 363: by Brittany (new)

Brittany | 6451 comments Mod
Thanks, that pretty much solidifies my choice to not continue

message 364: by Gord (new)

Gord | 1001 comments That was my conclusion after the second volume.

Read Sleepless, Vol. 1 by Sarah Vaughn and loved it

message 366: by Elena (new)

Elena Granger | 1788 comments The artwork of the last one looks so good!

message 367: by Brittany (new)

Brittany | 6451 comments Mod
It was! And historical fantasy with sleepless knights. So good, definitely recommend. I'm just waiting to get the second and final one from the library.

message 368: by Brittany (new)

Brittany | 6451 comments Mod
I finally finished reading The Family Upstairs by Lisa Jewell and have mixed thoughts.

message 369: by Elena (new)

Elena Granger | 1788 comments I've just added the Sleepless to my TBR. If I have the opportunity to get those books, I'll definitely read them.

Awesome! Hope you do Elena!

I'm adding another challenge because why not? I'll never get all 24 prompts done but curious how many I can do

Masquerade Oct 1-Nov 30 0/24

message 372: by Gord (new)

Gord | 1001 comments That is another challenge group I've been pondering about. The first question I have is do I really need more challenges? The second question I have is how firm are the dates for the challenges over there? For instance the one you posted above. Is it over and done at the end of November or is it open until you're done?

message 373: by Brittany (new)

Brittany | 6451 comments Mod
From what I understand they are usually pretty done on those dates. But there is nothing stopping you from completing it here afterwards. And more challenges is just fun, nobody ever "needs" them lol.

Read The Ancient Magus' Bride, Vol. 1 (The Ancient Magus' Bride, #1) by Kore Yamazaki it was a good manga, there was enough there to keep me wanting to continue the series.

message 375: by Brittany (new)

Brittany | 6451 comments Mod
Adding another challenge, one that I will never complete because I don't typically read 50 books in 5 months never mind 50 preset one. Plus this doesn't count graphic novels or manga. I am curious how many of these I can do though so I'll try it any way

Oh, The Books You Can Pack Oct-Feb 0/50

I did a first rough draft on those 50 books from the above challenge, my goodness do I have way too many books I want to read in the immediate future! So many books so little time....

Thoughts on my current list?

message 377: by Elena (new)

Elena Granger | 1788 comments I've read only one book from your list (Insurgent) and liked it. But not as the first one.

I'm also looking forward to read your thoughts on Gods of Jade and Shadow, Lily of the Nile, Cinderella Is Dead.

Laura ☾ | 873 comments Oooh I'd look forward to your thoughts on Gods of Jade and Shadow, A Court of Wings and Ruin, Song of Achilles and the rest of Kate Daniels!

Wow, good luck on the challenge, girl! The Song of Achilles was incredible! I still think about it from time to time... it was just so good! I also really enjoyed The Girl from the Well which is perfect for this time of year because it's nice and spooky! And as you already know I adore The Lunar Chronicles and Heroes of Olympus! I have not read Antigoddess but it's been on my tbr list for a long time! I'm interested to see what books you get done!

message 380: by Brittany (new)

Brittany | 6451 comments Mod
I have Girl from the Well on hold at the library because it is the best time of year for that type of thing!
Antigoddess I keep putting off. I will probably love it but idk it keeps getting put back on the shelf...

Going to start Head Over Heels by Hannah Orenstein on ebook and A Curse So Dark and Lonely (Cursebreakers, #1) by Brigid Kemmerer in hardcopy

Read The Woods, Vol. 3 New London by James Tynion IV this series has been going downhill for me after the first one had such potential. Figure I will try one more and see if it improves

Finished reading Head Over Heels by Hannah Orenstein it was a strong 3.5 star book for me. Definitely enjoyed it but didn't love it. A few things were missing.

message 395: by Elena (new)

Elena Granger | 1788 comments Great progress! And I love your plan. Looking forward to hear your thoughts on Curse So Dark and Lonely, Insurgent and the manga you're going to read.
Also I'm starting ACOTAR series this month and maybe I'll catch you up when you start #3.

message 396: by Brittany (new)

Brittany | 6451 comments Mod
That would be great Elena! I do them in audio and have them already just need to hit the right mood for the next one and not have a million things from the library at the same time!
Loving Curse so Dark and Lonely so far! Need to sit down and finish it.

message 397: by Elena (new)

Elena Granger | 1788 comments I have 1 and 3 of ACOTAR series on my e-readers and the 2 on audible.
Great you love the Curse!

message 398: by Brittany (new)

Brittany | 6451 comments Mod
I'm impressed, I have a really hard time switching from audio to written and back. Once I choose a medium I pretty much stick with it unless the narrator isn't great.

message 399: by Elena (new)

Elena Granger | 1788 comments I read written books faster than audio. So I prefer reading when I have some free time and listen only while walking (aka getting some fresh air) and doing something not focus-heavy (like chores, gardening, daily emails, skimming through job offers etc).
