Finished Stepsister by Jennifer Donnelly great book, highly recommend. Not quite a 5 star for me but close. Good narrator too for those who prefer audio.

Think my next audio is The Tattooist of Auschwitz (The Tattooist of Auschwitz, #1) by Heather Morris

Let me know your thoughts on The Tattooist of Auschwitz (The Tattooist of Auschwitz, #1) by Heather Morris I have that on audio but I couldn't get into it.

Jo Elliott | 1838 comments Ah yes Brittany, really want to know what you think of The Tattooist of Auschwitz, it's on my TBR.

I'm doing the audio for it too. Only just started about 30 minutes in so far. Not my favourite narrator but not bad

I just finished The Tattooist of Auschwitz (The Tattooist of Auschwitz, #1) by Heather Morris it was quite good but I wish someone more talented had written it and actually done their research to go with the reports from the MC. Some of the details that are wrong are painful and makes it hard to believe much of the rest of the story.

Next up on audio is Alpha Night (Psy-Changeling Trinity, #4; Psy-Changeling, #19) by Nalini Singh

message 258: by Kayleigh {K-Books}, YA Fantasy Fan (new)

Kayleigh {K-Books} (kayley_12) | 2302 comments Mod
It's a shame that some of the details were incorrect. I'm probably not going to pick that one back up.

Enjoy your next audiobook. I've actually never read anything by Nalini Singh

message 259: by Brittany (new)

Brittany | 6451 comments Mod
Yeah I probably wouldn't recommend it for you Kay. There are so many better ones out there.

I love the Psy-Changeling series so much. They are auto buys for me. I'm way behind on her Guild Hunter series though which is also good. Wasn't a big fan of the only contemporary book of hers I have read though. I think you'd enjoy Psy-changeling.

message 260: by Elena (new)

Elena Granger | 1788 comments The second one seems really good! Enjoy listening :) I've also never read anything by Nalini Singh. Maybe worth considering.

Is it a super long series? If it's not I'll add it to my wishlist. I get intimidated by long series haha.

message 262: by Brittany (new)

Brittany | 6451 comments Mod
The one I'm starting is book 19..... so yeah its pretty huge. We are in arc two of the world. Her world building is really enjoyable and the characters all feel so real. But it is a big book commitment so I totally get it.

Kayleigh {K-Books} (kayley_12) | 2302 comments Mod
Yeah.... I don't do long series. Like any over 6 is long to me haha.

Brittany | 6451 comments Mod
Lol fair! Its why I have so many series to finish!!

message 265: by Jo (new)

Jo Elliott | 1838 comments The longest series I've ever read were the Heartland books, there were like 20 of those, not including special editions, but they were so short, like mostly less than 200 pages, that it wasn't too difficult to get through. Plus I read a lot faster when I was younger!

I love long series... mostly. Lol. If you don't count Fear Street (I don't even now how many books there are, but definitely over 50! Lol), the longest series I've read is Elemental Assassin by Jennifer Estep, which is up to 18 books right now.

I'm always a little hesitant to start a series once its already at 10+ books but I have lots of long series on the go

I feel the same way about TV shows with a lot of series? I've watched a lot of shows that have had quite long runs (some might argue too long but that's neither here nor there) and yet when I'm recommended a long running show that's already deep in, I don't want to dive into it. Case in point, my friend is always recommending both Grey's Anatomy and Supernatural to me, but they're such a time commitment and if I'd been recommended them earlier then I might have tried, but after 15/16 seasons? Nah.

Right?! I just dont have the time to binge that many seasons! The first 3 or so seasons of Supernatural were great, then I got bored.

No one does! See that's also the thing, most of the time, long running TV shows run out of steam and I don't want to commit to something that's probably not going to turn out well in the end!

I love long TV series too! Last year I binged watched Bleach which has like 16 season 🙈 Idk, I guess they just aren't as daunting to me. Lol.

I love Supernatural! It's my favorite TV show of all time! And yes, it definitely has it's ups and down, but what's kept me hooked through 15 seasons is the relationship between the brothers. I love them! It's funny cause I actually started rewatching the show like 2 or 3 weeks ago and I'm already up to season 4. Lol.

Finished Wicked Fox (Gumiho, #1) by Kat Cho highly recommend. Korean myth and it was just so neat. Just remember it isn't something I know anything really about so there might be inaccuracies and I would have no clue. I can't wait to continue in this series

Next up on ebook is Vicious (Villains, #1) by V.E. Schwab

It's my favorite too! Love the brothers' bond. My son's named Jensen after one of the main actors.

message 276: by HeatherH (new)

That's awesome Heather! Jensen is gorgeous! And such a good person!

Slumps are everywhere right now! I've been visiting some blogs today and everyone seems to be in a slump of sorts!

Great job Brittany! Being behind on those two isn't so bad when you're doing great in all your other challenges! Lol.

message 280: by Brittany (new)

Thanks Lili! Yeah I don't mind! I like doing them, don't really care that much if I complete them all.

Darn! That isn't going to work for me. But please keep me in mind if you find any translated ones!
I love books in other cultures.

11 books read 3082 pages
2 audio, 3 ebook, 2 hardcopy and 4 comics
6 four star, 3 three star, 2 two star

So at halfway through the year I am way ahead of my reading goal, all these comics really help with that! But I'd still be basically right on track even without them so yay.
On my main challenges this is where I am standing:

Let's Turn Pages 17239/30000
Serial Reader 29/40
Clear the Shelves 9/30

So I really need to get reading more books I own but otherwise not bad! Also really need to get back on the mystery reading train and read books set in greece/rome/during the world wars to clear up some other challenges

Thoughts on both?

message 297: by Brittany (new)

Brittany | 6451 comments Mod
Save the date was adorable and fun a solid 3.5 star book.
Every Heart a Doorway is rather fantastic but too short! I wanted more details. Super neat world though and I appreciate all the diversity of characters.

message 298: by HeatherH (new)

HeatherH (bkwrm85) | 802 comments I LOVED all of the books in the Every Heart series so much. And while she wraps them each up well, I do agree I'd love to have more and more. book 2 and 4 are my faves of the series!

message 299: by Brittany (new)

Brittany | 6451 comments Mod
I'm going to read book 2 now quickly before a BR I have starts.
She does wrap them up well but because they are so short there could be so much more character growth/detailed side characters. I know the author write excellent side characters so I just want more! But still, so good.
