Still a very enjoyable read 30+ years after the first reading. The classic vampire novel where the women are gorgeous and the men are gallant and protective. Mina being described as having a man's brain (they could at least specify someone intelligent) as a complement does date the novel as does all decision making being done by the men and all the talk of God protecting them. Certainly some still have similar beliefs but they are not as common as they once were, certainly not amongst doctors (who could now be female) and the scientific community. Love reading of old Whitby which is still recognisable today.....199 steps up to St. Mary's Church by the Abbey etc. Dracula's Castle is still an eerie setting and the descriptions of the pass still set the imagination going. An amazing novel to have stood the test of time so well and to still be one of the best spooky reads of the year now I'm old and snarky.
