It's a couple that lives in New York (I'm pretty sure, but could be wrong there). They have a daughter. The wife is the main character. He's a doctor I believe. The marriage gets strained and they stop talking. (view spoiler)[Something about her finding a note in his pocket. I think the note was to her him saying he wanted to leave the marriage. (hide spoiler)] He's kinda controlling, on Thanksgiving he gets mad at her because of the sweater she's wearing being too motherly or something like that. There's a scene of Thanksgiving with both sides of the family there and he gets mad at her for what she's wearing or such and ends up throwing the food so they order Chinese.

I remember she has a sister who spends a lot of time at her house, often spends the night.

I read it just a couple of years ago, so I'd guess it's 2000 or later publication date. Probably around 2010.
