Rachel A. (abyssallibrarian) | 3281 comments Read only trilogies or only standalone novels?
Very tough one! I love both, but I think if I had to choose, I'd pick only standalones because it would be a wider variety of characters/stories.

Read only female or male authors?
I don't really have a preference. I don't pick the books I read based on the author's gender. Most of my favourite authors happen to be female, so I guess I'd pick female so I could at least still read their new books.

Shop only at bookshops or online?
I love online shopping for the convenience, but it's so much fun to wander through a real bookstore. I could literally spend hours doing that. Assuming bookstores were easily accessible to me, I'd shop in bookstores.

All books you read became movies or all books became tv shows?
I wouldn't necessarily watch an adaptation of every single book that I read, either way. I think I'd probably pick movies for the most part, but I'd prefer TV shows for fantasy series.

Read 5 pages per day or 5 books per week?
5 books per week!

Be a professional reviewer or a published author?
I'd love to have the ability to write reviews properly. I struggle with reviewing books now because I have trouble talking about what I like/don't like without giving spoilers.

Be a librarian or bookseller?
Be a librarian, because they have the chance to do other book-related things (ie. programs for kids)

Hardcovers or paperbacks?
I go through phases with this one. Currently, I prefer hardcovers because they are more durable for the most part, but I don't mind paperbacks (but not mass market paperbacks) either.

eBooks or Audio?
I'm not such a fan of either to be honest. I tend to tune out audiobooks, and I also don't like to read longer books on a screen. I guess if I had to choose, I'd pick audiobooks because at least I could listen to those while doing other things.

Mystery or romance?
Mystery! I like both, but I tend to gravitate toward mysteries or thrillers more often.

Only read your favorite genre forever or every other genre except your favorite?
My favourites are contemporary (which is very broad), fantasy, and thrillers, and I wouldn't really want to give any of those up. But I also can't narrow it down to just one genre and be okay with reading just that either.

Read only trilogies or only standalone novels?
Standalone novels. Though I seem to read mostly series these days...

Read only female or male authors?
Female

Shop only at bookshops or online?
Online. I pretty much only do audiobooks and ebooks.

All books you read became movies or all books became tv shows?
Movies. So I can more easily ignore them :D

Read 5 pages per day or 5 books per week?
5 books per week - I'm thinking I may make it there next year!

Be a professional reviewer or a published author?
Published author

Be a librarian or bookseller?
Bookseller! Then I can focus on the things that interest me and spend less time on the things that don't :D I'd also love to do openings, parties, etc

Hardcovers or paperbacks?
Paperbacks! I like to fold my books...

eBooks or Audio?
eBooks, I think. I would probably answer differently on a different day.

Mystery or romance?
Romance!

Only read your favorite genre forever or every other genre except your favorite?
Favorite! I really have to push myself not to read my favorite genres so I wouldn't like being pinned to other things.

I'm stuck on this one. I guess librarian

- Hardcovers or paperbacks?
Always paperbacks

- eBooks or Audio?
I guess I'd have to go with audio just because I think I've done more audio than ebooks this year.

- Mystery or romance?
It depends - if it's a cozy mystery then I'd pick romance. If it's a thriller mystery then mystery

- Only read your favorite genre forever or every other genre except your favorite?
I read lots of genres and I'm not sure what my favorite is so I guess I'd go with every other genre except my favorite

Sara (phantomswife) - Read only trilogies or only standalone novels?
Standalone

- Read only female or male authors?
Dang, hard to say. I suppose I would go with male (simply because they have still written so many more than females), but I have to say gender is not a strong element in my choices.

- Shop only at bookshops or online?
online. All the good bookshops around us have closed.

Oh, yuck. I guess I will go with mystery, but really I'd rather not read either.

my favorite forever, because the second option excludes the thing I love the most.

message 13: by Edie (new)

Edie | 1148 comments - Read only trilogies or only standalone novels?
standalone novels

- Read only female or male authors?
no real preference. When I am looking for someone new, I am more likely to try a female author, but I wouldn't want to miss some of the books written by male authors.

- Shop only at bookshops or online?
Bookshops - but I am mostly a library person

- All books you read became movies or all books became tv shows?
NO... hardly any. I hate those prompts, since I rarely go to movies and don't really know whether a book has become a tv show.

- Read 5 pages per day or 5 books per week?
50-100 pages a day... which translates to a couple of books

- Be a professional reviewer or a published author?
Neither really..if pushed, published author

- Be a librarian or bookseller?
librarian

- Hardcovers or paperbacks?
Both are okay. Hardcovers usually have larger print, paperbacks travel well.

- eBooks or Audio?
eBooks

- Mystery or romance?
Mystery

- Only read your favorite genre forever or every other genre except your favorite?
I like variety and try to mix my reading up. Currently reading a best selling novel, a collection of essays and a collection of Christmas stories.

°~Amy~° (amybooksit) - Read only trilogies or only standalone novels?
Standalones, unless the entire trilogy has been published. I am buried in partially done series at the moment and it gets frustrating.

- Read only female or male authors?
I do not have a preference so if I had to pick it would be male just because I have two series finales being published next year and they are both by men.

- Shop only at bookshops or online?
If I had to pick, bookstores. I would miss browsing the bookshelves if I only ever got to shop online.

- All books you read became movies or all books became tv shows?
Probably movies because I would be more likely to watch those.

- Read 5 pages per day or 5 books per week?
5 pages per day sounds far more relaxing and enjoyable than rising through 5 books a week.

- Be a professional reviewer or a published author?
A published author

- Be a librarian or bookseller?
A bookseller. Librarians are wonderful but they have so much more to deal with than just books now.

- Hardcovers or paperbacks?
Hardcovers

- eBooks or Audio?
Ebooks

- Mystery or romance?

Female

- Shop only at bookshops or online?
Bookshops, I love browsing around and seeing what I find

- All books you read became movies or all books became tv shows?
Tv shows, i think having more than a couple hours to bring the words to life would (hopefully) do the quiet and the story justice

- Read 5 pages per day or 5 books per week5 books power week.

- Be a professional reviewer or a published author?
A professional reviewer, writing is not partculay a strength of mine
- Be a librarian or bookseller?
A librarian
- Hardcovers or paperbacks?
Paperbacks, i find them easier yo crry around with me

- eBooks or Audio?
Ebooks, I like studio but i get distracted easily

- Mystery or romance?
Mystery
-Only read your favorite genre forever or every other genre except your favorite?
Every other genre, I feel like I would eventually get bored of reading the same thing all the time

message 16: by Entropia (new)

Entropia | 283 comments Read only trilogies or only standalone novels?
Standalone novels - simply because there are more options.

Read only female or male authors?
Male authors.

Shop only at bookshops or online?
Online.

All books you read became movies or all books became tv shows?
All books became TV Shows, I generally prefer TV Shows to movies, because they don't cut content as much.

Read 5 pages per day or 5 books per week?
If it wouldn't change my daily routines, then 5 books per week (e.g if I learned to speed-read), but otherwise I wouldn't want to have my life disrupted by excessive reading ;)

Be a professional reviewer or a published author?
Hmmm, I'm really bad at writing reviews, so I'd rather be a published author, but I would be ok with any of those as long as I would be good at what I'm doing.

Be a librarian or bookseller?
Librarian, seems to be more chill job.

Hardcovers or paperbacks?
Hardcovers.

eBooks or Audio?
eBooks. Sadly I can't focus on Audiobooks at all.

Mystery or romance?
I don't like either, but I'd say mystery.

Only read your favorite genre forever or every other genre except your favorite?
I don't have just one favorite genre, so I don't know how would that work in context of question. But still I think there are enough of good books to keep me occupied in any of my favorite genres, so I will go with only reading my favorite genre.

message 17: by Kathryn (new)

Kathryn | 563 comments I forgot about the games during the read-a-thon, so will go back and do some of them now!

Would You Rather?

- Read only trilogies or only standalone novels?
Standalone - Books in series sort of annoy me - I want to read them in order, but I have to check what the order is, and then try to get them in order... I do read trilogies, and longer series, but if I could only read standalone books or books in trilogies, I'd definitely rather read standalones.

- Read only female or male authors?
Female - I tend to read mostly female anyway, even without trying.

- Shop only at bookshops or online?
I rarely shop for books - I love my library!! - but for the few books I do buy, I'd probably rather be able to buy them at bookshops.

- All books you read became movies or all books became tv shows?
I don't really care! I don't feel compelled to watch something just because it was a book I enjoyed.

- Read 5 pages per day or 5 books per week?
I'd rather read 5 books a week!! I wouldn't finish many challenges if I was only reading 5 pages/day!

- Be a professional reviewer or a published author?
Published author, I guess, although neither really appeal.

- Be a librarian or bookseller?
Librarian - less pressure!

- Hardcovers or paperbacks?
I don't really mind, but I tend to read more paperbacks.

- eBooks or Audio?
Both! If I had to give one up, I'd probably rather keep the audio.

- Mystery or romance?
Mystery, hands down!

- Only read your favorite genre forever or every other genre except your favorite?
I don't have one favourite genre, but I'd rather read one of my favourite genres forever - although I'm sure I'd still whinge about lack of variety after a while!
