Hi Josie -
Thanks so much for sending this message - These are excellent questions.
A lot of people probably want to understand what Sentientism is, what the best books are to get started learning, and then figure out how they want to participate in the movement, etc.
These are my suggestions:
1 - Here is a link to a twitter post by Jamie Woodhouse and @Sentientism that is a good starting point as it links to the Facebook group (which will lead to more groups and reads on twitter, reddit, etc.): Sentientism
2 - Here is a link to a post for reading to get started, learn more:
Complementary and Supplementary Reading
I recommend following Jamie Woodhouse here and anywhere you are active. He has been my source for learning. He has written about the topic, is very vocal, and has appeared in two podcasts to date (I believe), as well as online interviews, lectures, etc.
Any of the books in this group's bookshelf are great. For me, personally, Peter Singer has been a great way to start learning about philosophy and animal rights.
Feel free to keep this dialogue rolling with your ideas, questions and more, Josie. I hope more people will join in, too :)
Thank you again - Let us know what comes up!
Kat

I agree on all fronts + I've started building www.sentientism.info as a place where we can pull info together and link to all of our community groups (including this one).
Our main global group is on FaceBook here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/senti...
Everyone is very welcome whether or not they're a "sentientist". We have an interesting mix of people there from 54 countries so far. Academics, policy people, writers, activists - but mostly just interested lay people like me.
Feedback / suggestions / questions very welcome.
Thanks,
Jamie.
