I have Dark Lover and absolutely love it I have read it over and over and it is still one of my best.

I agree, I loved this series and they are definitely for adults. I've read all of the Sookie novels as well as Twilight, I'd say definitely give it a go :)
I have yet to read the Sookie but I can say I really did not like the Twilight series.

I loved Sookie Stackhouse and I found this good series by Jeaniene Frost - Cat & Bones . This was a really enjoyable series. The other series that isn't bad is

I realize that the thread starter post is over 2 years old now, but I decided to reply. This series started as romance with elements of urban fantasy. The first 4 books are more romance than urban fantasy. However, from that point forward, the romance takes a secondary role. The latest book in the series was a rehashing of the bromance of two characters that already had their stories told. The romance portion is outstanding. Sadly, it's barely 1/3 of the book itself. The central plot revolves around the bromance. Frankly, I am not willing to spend money on the hard cover editions of this series any longer. That being said, it's worth reading those first 4 books in the series.
I really enjoyed the book, along with the series. As with any series of books some were definitely better than others but over all I did enojoy them.
I started off with Sookie and ended up with the Brothers. And let me just tell you, BDB is soooooooo worth it! I agree, I didn't enjoy Phury's or Payne's books very much, but the others I loved! And yes, you MUST try Kresley Cole's IAD series and Gena Showalter's LOTU series. Great reads, both of them! Oh and Cat & Bones of the Night Huntress series? Yummmmmy Bones! Gotta love him! I hope we've helped you through your journey of the best reads and the sexiest vamps in the world of fiction!
Love this Series. Hope it never ends. The first book was the best ever.

I like this series very much and maybe you'll like them too, cause you've read Sookie.. but ya'know there's a loooooot of erotic for me in these books.Maybe is only erotic for me cause I personally think that the story and the characters make one book a good read.And a piece of love.Not erotic or things like that.And they have nothing in common with Twilight, but they're still good books, and the only way you can like/dislike them is to read them.

I mean all the others up to that point were frickin awesome! But I didn't give up on the series and I'm glad I didn't Rehvenge's and John Michael's books are great. I liked Payne's book more than most people. Hopefully when I wake up in the morning Lover Reborn will be waiting for me on my Kindle!!!!
I'm not going to buy it yet. I am only on the 6th book, so I will wait until I need it before I buy it.

I have read the first 4 of these. These books are for Adults only!!!! These are very different from Sookie, Twilight etc. These are virile alpha males. The sex is steamy hot. Each of the brothers have some sort of past issue they must deal with to find true love. In my humble opinion the first book was the best. The further into the series I went, the less interested I got. But, that was just me. This series is very popular, but you should know these vampires are a little different. If you liked Sookie you may like the Anita Blake series by Laurell K Hamilton.

But on the BDB series, the first book was by far the best. I liked Wrath, Rages, Zhadist, Butch's, and John Mathew. I would have like Vicious's but hated how that ended.
Vishous is my favorite but I do agree that he got a lame HEA. Even with the re-visit in Payne's book, I still didn't like it. V should have ended up with Butch...because I can't stand Marissa.

But I was referring to the love interest (sad I can't remember her name) coming back as a freaking Ghost. He did love Butch, your right.
I am just waiting for a story for Blay & Qhuinn. Ever since the series started branching out to other characters in each book, I've loved following John Matthew. Then when the story between Blay and Qhuinn started picking up, I was riveted for those scenes alone! Most people probably will be against an actual book for Q and Blay alone, but I hear there is talk of a novella for them. I soooo hope that's true! If so, I REALLY can't wait to get my greedy hands on it!
Rita:Jane. Dr. Jane Whitcomb. Yeah not a fan of the ghost thing but hey if V's happy I can deal. Although V and Butch would have been a nice touch but i have to wonder how the bonding scent thing would work in that situation. Whose scent would dominate? I would wager V since he has always been a vampire and oh yeah his mother is the creator of the race. Can't imagine Butch being a Shellan, just writing it made me laugh.

What do you think about this story that is coming up with Torment?
Do you think those guys that were in Payne's story will get books of their own or join the BDB?
That is going to be interesting. Not to sound like a reading snob but I hope she does them justice not like V with the ghost mate. I want them to have something solid like Zsadist and Bella.

Then when the story between Blay an..."Unfotunately Ward has stated that she won't write an entire novel devoted to Qhuinn and Blay (she's afraid her readers wouldn't buy it) but will write a novella instead. I , for one, am very upset about that. It's a sad commentary on today's society if a m/m relationship can't be accepted by tne masses yet...especially readers of BDB.
Well this is the reason that once publishers get readers hooked on a series the new releases all become hardcover when they were originally paperback but since I am trying not to go there....I find it odd she would feel that way considering V's book and his background. She does not have to devote every page to their sexual interaction.
I actually think its probably more of the publisher's decision than hers. She must be supportive of the pairing since she writes it. She even switched Qhuinn's original pairing from Layla to Blay when she saw readers support so I feel it is probably more of the publisher's opinion than hers.
U should definetly read this book. It thought it was very romantic and I love the need they have to protect each other. This is a great book to read
This is a great series to start! I love BDB and JR Ward; I'm excited for a new book coming out tomorrow...Whoot Whoot!Also, Lara Adrain is good; however her last few books haven't grabbed me like her earlier ones did.
Oh, and Larissa Ione!! She's realllly good, her books will not disappoint, same for Darynda Jones, Charley Davidson series...

My personal opinion is that such a book would still be a success, anyone this far into the BDB series knows what to expect by now.

Their getting a novella from what I've heard through the grapevine. So that is at least something.
Great news just released on JR WARd's Facebook and then confirmed at her recent book signing:Contradicting what she has stated in the past:
"THEIR FUTURE HAS COME" The next BDB Hardcover Book 2013- Blay and Qhuinn's Story!!!
I guess all the fan support of this couple has convinced both Ward and her publisher that their book will be a success!
Looking forward to it.
This is one of my favorite series it is chocked full of romance.

That is totally great news. But I still kind of fear that there will be so many damn extra sub plots and their story might come through as strongly. Like with Rhev and for some Phury's book. Which I think might take it all the way down on likability. I so don't want that to happen.

We BDB fans have waited so long for them to FINALLY have their own story that I really think it would dim the likability considerably if there were a lot of extra sub plots to take the focus off of Q & Blay. I mean yes, sub plots are how Qhuinn & Blay got to this point in the first place, but now that they've FINALLY reached the point where we can FINALLY see what happens with them, I'd like the book to remain focused on them and not veer off too much onto other characters.
BDB books are good, I have to say that I have really liked them. I only had a problem with Phury's book, the others I haven't had a problem reading. I have not (and will not) read Twilight, and I have never heard of the Sookie books. (might look them up) Laurell K Hamilton has good vampire books too. Her books though get harder and harder to enjoy as the books go on, but I have to say most writers have that problem when it comes to series. Or you could look up the classics of Ann Rice. :)

I've never read the Sookie stackhouse novels,but I am a huge fan of paranormal romance,especially vampires romance and I am here to tell you,I have read the entire BDB series up to the newest release Lover Reborn(can't wait for the quinn and blay book in 2013!),and in my opinion there is no better paranormal/vampire romance series out there.Now I love alot of other faves too,I honestly have so many faves its hard to keep up with them all,but J.R. Ward just has this way of making you fall in love with every single brother she writes about.In fact,several times throughout this series so far,she will mention things about the other brothers,the ones not being truly featured in that particular book,and I'll be thinking that I just really don't like that character at all.But then when thier own book comes out,I end up falling head over heals in love with a brother that I had been totally conviced I was going to hate!(Zadists! is a good example)And right now, I am not the least bit fond of xcor,but if and/or when he gets his own book, i have absolutely no doubt whatsoever that J.R. Ward will write it so that I end up loving him too.

Hi Jen. I read the Sookie Stackhouse series as well as twilight, and quite a few other paranormal romance series but the Black Dagger Brotherhood series was BY FAR my very favorite! I fell in love with all the characters. The way the books were written was captivating and kept me wanting more. It was such a good read to me that I was actually heart broken when I knew I was on the last installation. I felt like I was losing family! LOL! As a member of the J.R. Ward fan club I just recently became aware that a new installation to the series comes out in March...I will be one of the first to grab a copy for sure! Another pretty addicting series that I read before the BDB was Keri Arthurs Guardian Series. Great characters, great story :)
I havent read the Sookie Stackhouse novels, but I faithfully watch True Blood. I have read the Twilight books and read them over and over. I also have read alot of paranormal romance and series, but I totally agree with Diane, I was on facebook in the book page and this was the Series that everyone was recommending. I have to tell you I was not disappointed. THIS IS DEFINITELY MY ALL TIME FAVORITE SERIES!!!! I will be reading this series over and over again. And I also so thrilled there will be another book out in March 13. If you have not read, I totally suggest investing in this series, if this is something you are interested. Such a great, great read.
