James Morcan | 11380 comments Although it doesn't talk about any scientifically advanced civilizations, this article is perhaps related to this thread as it does mention older settlements with houses than previously supposed existed in Jerusalem. Older by several thousand years, in fact.

In particular, this quote: "Stone houses and artifacts dating back 7,000 years have been discovered in Jerusalem, demonstrating that the settlement existed some 2,000-3,000 years more than had been supposed. The houses showed various stages of building, indicating that they had been in use for centuries. The stone homes plus other artifacts were found by Shuafat, in north Jerusalem, in the course of a "salvage excavation" ahead of building a new road."

Don't exaggerate Harry...
According to hardcore Fundamentalist Christianity the Earth is 4,000 years old, not 6,000.
When you next visit the Bible Belt of America they will debunk you for adding 2,000 extra years...how unscientific of you!

I'm sure when they first did their really scientific study of adding up all the ages of everyone in the Bible it came out at 10,000 years!

It'll be that the earth's 3,000 years old soon.

Mysteries of Ancient Egypt and the Sphinx:

In the latter half, tenured faculty member at Boston University, Robert M. Schoch, Ph.D., discussed his work dating the ancient Egyptian Sphinx, and other structures, as well as his contention that a coronal mass ejection or solar outburst triggered cataclysmic earth changes, and destroyed an advanced civilization that predated ancient Egypt, Sumeria, and Greece. According to his research, the body of the Sphinx dates back to around 10,000 BC (its head though is not the original one). Just to carve the body of the Sphinx required an incredible sophistication-- they had to carve and move huge limestone blocks up to 50 tons, he detailed. The original sites for the Great Pyramid and other structures were also constructed at this time, but built over in later years, he said.

During this time frame of 12,000 years ago, structures such as Gobekli Tepe in Turkey were also built, and he believes there was likely an interconnected global civilization. A new discovery on the Giza Plateau indicates that the bedrock was charred and burned, and he believes that's where the solar burst or plasma hit. Shoch also announced the formation of the new Organization for the Research of Ancient Cultures (ORACUL), which seeks to raise awareness and money for out-of-the box projects such as exploring the chamber under the left paw of the Sphinx.

Tony Sunderland | 328 comments There could be merit to that. I saw the Sphinx last year and the head does not match its body. The proportions are way out.

Kelly Higgins The word 'days' regarding Genesis was not originally in the Bible, it was added by King James. Some say it said yoms, others eons. Yom can either be a 24 hour period or infinite amount of time. People have gone all the way to 'investigating' or looking into which pharaoh may have been pharaoh during the time of the exodus in the bible using the dream stele. And strangely some even believe that Hatshepsut was Moses's stepmother. Time wise that makes no sense at all.

Graham Hancock (born 2 August 1950) is a British writer and journalist. Hancock specialises in unconventional theories involving ancient civilisations, stone monuments or megaliths, altered states of consciousness, ancient myths and astronomical/astrological data from the past. One of the main themes running through many of his books is a posited global connection with a "mother culture" from which he believes all ancient historical civilisations sprang.

James Morcan | 11380 comments Incredible Megalith Discoveries from Ancient Civilizations https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=apNYz...

Ancient Megalithic sites all over the world are staggering in their scale. Stones that weigh several tons and are meters tall are the norm. Great effort was required to move these behemoths, as they sometimes came from quarries kilometers away. They are not haphazardly placed. Utmost care was given to each stone in regards to its size, shape, orientation, relationship to surroundings, and function. Semi circular and circular formations provide for an optimum cone shaped field of range.

Their locations are strategic and many features of these sites have elements that clearly reveal knowledge of celestial events. Megaliths the world over are frequently found along well established trade routes. They dot water ways all across the planet, overlooking banks and curves along rivers' and oceans' edges and bends. Distances between quarries and sites emphasize the importance of location outweighing any obstacle of transportation.

James Morcan | 11380 comments Excerpt that follows is from... https://www.innertraditions.com/autho...

Despite millennia of fame, the origins of the Great Pyramid of Giza are
shrouded in mystery. Believed to be the tomb of an Egyptian king, even
though no remains have ever been found, its dating at roughly 2550 BCE
is tied to only one piece of evidence: crudely painted marks within the
pyramid’s hidden chambers that refer to the 4th Dynasty king Khufu. In
the second half, Egyptian pyramid researcher Scott Creighton discussed
how and why the marks were likely faked. Hieratic (an informal type of
hieroglyphics) markings on the massive stones were left by work gangs as
they quarried the limestone blocks. In 1837, British Colonel Harold Vyse
dynamited his way into a hidden chamber of the Great Pyramid where he
claimed to discover markings that identified a work gang associated with
the pharaoh Khufu. Creighton said that "the marks are the only hard
evidence that connects the pyramid to this ancient Egyptian King."

Creighton’s research suggests that Col Vyse may have forged or lied
about the markings for his own benefit. Throughout his diaries,
Creighton says, Vyse wrote of his desire to make some sort of monumental
discovery while he was in Egypt, such as identifying marks on the great
Pyramid which would conclusively date the structure, which then
miraculously happened. He also pointed out that Vyse’s private notes and
his published writings contradict themselves in terms of what he
discovered and when he discovered it. There is also a carved stone that
refers to Khufu sponsoring repairs on the Pyramid and the Sphinx, as if
they were old and existed prior to his reign. Creighton thinks the
monument may be up to 20,000 years old. He concluded that "deeper we
dig, the further back the history of humanity seems to go."

James Morcan | 11380 comments From Coast to Coast:

"Recognized as an unconventional thinker who raises legitimate questions about humanity's history and prehistory, Graham Hancock has challenged the entrenched views of orthodox scholars. In the latter half, he shared his insights and evidence, as well as recent travels to the world's most mysterious archaeological sites. Hancock contends that a global cataclysm wiped out an advanced civilization around 12,000 years ago and made us a species with amnesia. This timeline is backed by a new theory that there was a large cometary impact during the geological Younger Dryas period from 12,800 to 11,600 years ago, he reported."

"One of the most extraordinary correlations to this timeline is the Gobekli Tepe megalithic site in Turkey which dates back nearly 12,000 years and is a "giant archaeological mystery," Hancock remarked. It was previously thought that only hunter-gatherers lived in that time period, yet the site, discovered by Klaus Schmidt in the 1990s, contains sophisticated astronomical features, and 20 ft. high pillars carved from stone with artistic designs. This was also the time that agriculture first emerged. He correlated Gobekli with some of the ancient works in Egypt such as the Sphinx, which may be far older than it was originally thought, and cited the work of rogue Egyptologist John Anthony West who is facing a battle with cancer."

James Morcan | 11380 comments What you guys think of this book's premise?

The Memory Code: The Secrets of Stonehenge, Easter Island and Other Ancient Monuments

The discovery of a powerful memory technique used by our Neolithic ancestors in their monumental memory places—and how we can use their secrets to train our own minds.

In ancient, pre-literate cultures across the globe, tribal elders had encyclopedic memories. They could name all the animals and plants across a landscape, identify the stars in the sky, and recite the history of their people. Yet today, most of us struggle to memorize more than a short poem.

Using traditional Aboriginal Australian song lines as a starting point, Dr. Lynne Kelly has since identified the powerful memory technique used by our ancestors and indigenous people around the world. In turn, she has then discovered that this ancient memory technique is the secret purpose behind the great prehistoric monuments like Stonehenge, which have puzzled archaeologists for so long.

The henges across northern Europe, the elaborate stone houses of New Mexico, huge animal shapes in Peru, the statues of Easter Island—these all serve as the most effective memory system ever invented by humans. They allowed people in non-literate cultures to memorize the vast amounts of information they needed to survive. But how?

For the first time, Dr. Klly unlocks the secret of these monuments and their uses as "memory places" in her fascinating book. Additionally, The Memory Code also explains how we can use this ancient mnemonic technique to train our minds in the tradition of our forbearers.

The Science of the Dogon: Decoding the African Mystery Tradition

A look at the close resemblance between the creation and structure of matter in both Dogon mythology and modern science

• Reveals striking similarities between Dogon symbols and those used in both the Egyptian and Hebrew religions

• Demonstrates the parallels between Dogon mythical narratives and scientific concepts from atomic theory to quantum theory and string theory

The Dogon people of Mali, West Africa, are famous for their unique art and advanced cosmology. The Dogon’s creation story describes how the one true god, Amma, created all the matter of the universe. Interestingly, the myths that depict his creative efforts bear a striking resemblance to the modern scientific definitions of matter, beginning with the atom and continuing all the way to the vibrating threads of string theory. Furthermore, many of the Dogon words, symbols, and rituals used to describe the structure of matter are quite similar to those found in the myths of ancient Egypt and in the daily rituals of Judaism. For example, the modern scientific depiction of the informed universe as a black hole is identical to Amma’s Egg of the Dogon and the Egyptian Benben Stone.

The Science of the Dogon offers a case-by-case comparison of Dogon descriptions and drawings to corresponding scientific definitions and diagrams from authors like Stephen Hawking and Brian Greene, then extends this analysis to the counterparts of these symbols in both the ancient Egyptian and Hebrew religions. What is ultimately revealed is the scientific basis for the language of the Egyptian hieroglyphs, which was deliberately encoded to prevent the knowledge of these concepts from falling into the hands of all but the highest members of the Egyptian priesthood. The Science of the Dogon also offers compelling new interpretations for many of the most familiar Egyptian symbols, such as the pyramid and the scarab, and presents new explanations for the origins of religiously charged words such as Jehovah and Satan.

James Morcan | 11380 comments I doubt this is "mystery solved", but I think this article does a good job at listing some of the things modern academics cannot remotely figure out about the pyramids of Egypt...

MYSTERY SOLVED! THIS IS HOW THE PYRAMIDS OF EGYPT WERE BUILT http://www.disclose.tv/news/mystery_s...

EXCERPTS FROM ARTICLE:

Has the Mystery of How the Pyramids Were Made Been Solved? The Pyramids at the Giza plateau in ancient Egypt are considered by many to be the most incredible ancient structures ever created on the face of the earth. The Great Pyramid of Giza, although built thousands of years ago, continues to astound specialists who cannot seem to understand how it was managed by ancient man to construct such a creation without modern day tools that make building structures much easier. Some of the seemingly infinite amazing aspects about the Great Pyramid of Giza include:

"Radioactive sand" has been discovered by experts by the Queens chambers.

The erection holds enough stone to create an almost 2-feet-high wall around the whole planet.

The relationship between Pi (p) and Phi (F) is conveyed in the fundamental proportions of the Great Pyramid.

Hieroglyphics were never found inside of the Pyramids.

How did the workers manage to build such a flawless structure? What was their reasoning behind making such big pyramids? How did people thousands of years ago possibly manage to transport, raise and place massive blocks of stone that weigh over 50 tons? As reported by the most established adaptations, the Pyramids were built by colossal armies of builders. Greek Philosopher and historian Herodotus was the first in history to mention this theory. He claimed that the Pyramids at Giza were manufactured by leagues of 100,000 men, which varied month-to-month, for a period of 20 years. However, for this to be factual, it would mean that one block of stone had to be perfectly placed into position ever 3 ½ minutes, 24 hours a day. One of the greatest misconceptions that have inevitably led to numerous misinterpretations about Ancient Egyptian society, their culture, and origins, is the idea that of mummy findings inside the Pyramid. Not a single mummy has been found by experts inside the Pyramid. It is a proven fact that The Great Pyramid of Giza does not hold a Pharaoh's mummy, and nothing uncovered inside the Pyramid suggests that there ever was one. The weight of the pyramid is predicted at 5,955,000 tons. Multiplied by 10^8 gives a plausible prediction of the earth’s mass. As of today, not one single expert has been able to answer three of the most fundamental questions surround the Pyramids at Giza which are: Who constructed them, why were they constructed, and maybe how they were constructed? Nonetheless, a documentary on YouTube may shed light on how these amazing creations were assembled thousands of years ago. The documentary talks about the processes used to construct the Pyramids. How could materials such as wooden rollers and mud bricks take the pressure put on them by tons of stone? Thousands of men allegedly dragged the building blocks across the desert in the excruciating heat – how did the ancient project managers keep spirits up amongst the dust-covered and exhausted workers?

From his website: Since its initial release in 1993, Forbidden Archeology has consistently ranked as an international bestseller in the archeology category of Amazon.com.

The original complete edition and its abridged popular version, The Hidden History of the Human Race, have caused shockwaves around the world, both in scientific circles and among the general public.

Forbidden Archeology and its abridged counterpart have been published in the US, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Japan, Russia, South America, Poland, Czech Republic, Korea, and Lithuania. Distributed exclusively by TORCHLIGHT PUBLISHING

He makes some interesting statements about human evolution. Worth looking at though his leanings towards Vedic histories is a little too far out there. However, this statement is worth considering!

"The knowledge filter and scientific suppression

One of the prominent themes introduced in Forbidden Archeology is the phenomena of "knowledge filtration." This is the process by which scientists and others routinely accept evidence that supports their preconceptions and theories while rejecting, either consciously or unconsciously, other evidence that does not uphold their views. This process of suppression of evidence is illustrated by many of the anomalous paleoanthropological findings discussed in the book. This evidence now tends to be extremely obscure, and it also tends to be clouded by a series of negative reports, themselves obscure and dating from the time when the evidence was being actively rejected. Thus, evolutionary prejudices held by powerful groups of scientists act as a "knowledge filter" which has eliminated evidence challenging accepted views and left us with a radically altered understanding of human origins and antiquity."
