Mia stayed because Adam wanted her to stay for his own selfish reason?
Adam made that promise because maybe it was to hard for him to handle loosing her, which you'd do anything to have someone you love come back to you.
Mia hated Adam because he made her stay, and she didn't want to stay she wanted to be with her family.
I think it was selfish of Adam to make her stay yes, but Ii do think what I said in the second part that you'd do anything to keep your loved ones alive even if they hate you, but I also think Mia is selfish also. Yes he made her stay but look how much she achieved, she should be living and be making her family proud up there, she was lucky enough to choose if she could stay or go but she just threw it away for her own selfish reason and blames Adam for her pain of making her stay.

Yes, I think he did the right thing. Although it may have been a selfish act because he obviously didn't want to lose her, I think it was the best thing to do. I guess after losing your whole family you'd be completely devastated and feel like you have nothing to live for, but if you do have the chance to live, I think it's best to take it and live your life despite whatever uncertainties you may have.
When I read the book, I hated that I was to believe that Adam made Mia stay. I felt cheated in some way. It's weird, but it was like a cop out move or something. So, I kind of made myself believe that deep down, she may have wanted to stay even if it was just for Adam or because her parents would have wanted her to be alive and not just because Adam said 'Stay'.
Well, You'd say whatever comes out of your mouth without thinking it through in a situation like that. I'm pretty sure he didn't have anytime to think through his words and the gravity it held, nor did he know that by saying those words, they would come through. I feel it was a spur of the moment thing and he wanted to express just how much he wanted her to come back by saying he'd do the hardest thing he could ever do just to have her back.
She hated him because he 'made' her stay. He made her come back to a life where she couldn't be with her family again.

It might have been a selfish act however we must remember that Mia does have free will on what to do, Adam did not MAKE her stay she chose it for herself and I think it was a great decision because then people actually got to know her name she got to make something of herself, either way it's not like if she's never going to see her family again, now or later everyone dies. eventually she's going to see her family.
And she hated adam because she blamed him for making her stay she said it herself she needed someone to blame for everything that happened to her, and you tend to push away the ones you love the most.
Adam made that promise because he loved her sooo much one must understand this type of love it consumes your whole being and leaves you breathless. Put yourself in the situation that he was in, you always ask a loved one to stay out of desperation. You can't imagine someone like this dying, I know what it feels like.
