She does seem bratty, but also a little twisted - the whole spikes in the pit traps. I wonder if there a lot of time between this verity book and the next one? Can’t remember how old she’s supposed to be now.

i'm through chapter 9 so slowly getting there. although i have no idea what happened to claudia so i guess no need to rush lol i really love (view spoiler)[verity's grandma. she's just like sup i broke into your apartment let's go for a ride on my motorcycle! i definitely wouldn't mind a dimension hopping book from her pov but idk if seanan is just planning on doing povs for the youngest generation or if the adults are also on the table. sorry! i promise i'm still reading this, just very very slowly lol up through chapter 15 now and yeah totally forgot like all of this book! gonna try to finish it up tomorrow. i've been listening to a lot of king falls am and it's gotten FAR TOO EMOTIONAL so maybe i need to take a small break *g*

finally done! even though it took me awhile to get through this time this is definitely one of my faves in the series. i agree that the whole dance show aspect drags on after awhile but i figured that might just be because i've never felt the need to watch a dance show in my life lol but i think it was necessary in order for verity to really get it out of her system and prove to herself that she made the right choice.

and yes (view spoiler)[alice is so awesome! i want a book about her so bad. (hide spoiler)] and i guess she is the only one who doesn't have any mice, at least in the immediate family. because the three kids have them and then the rest of the mice stay home with the parents. i guess the various aunts/uncles/cousins don't count to the mice because most of them are not human or 'technically' really related? not sure. i hope sarah has some for some reason in the new book though because it just wouldn't be the same without them. maybe artie has some and he tags along with her? i forget everyone parentage most of the time but artie is half human and actually blood related to verity right?

and yeah i did not remember that ending AT ALL but we've established i'm horrible at solving / remember mysteries lol (view spoiler)[ but when anders was like YEAH THE MAIN DUDE IS MY DAD AND I'M HORRIBLE DICK i was like whaaaaaaat?? i agree that it seems really weird the network would keep airing it, unless it was only controlled by people in the building currently and they were all running for their lives? i'm not sure how tv broadcasting works. but also you'd think that even though it was live it would be on a 5 second delay or something in case someone curses or has a nip slip or something lol but i guess that's where we have to agree to suspend our disbelief. agree that verity challenging the covenant on live tv is maybe not the best move but god what a BADASS! such big dick energy lol. but yeah i think the covenant is a much bigger part of the next two books if i remember correctly (hide spoiler)]

not sure what happened to claudia or what we want to do with the next one. i guess maybe wait till next week and start if we haven't heard from her? or maybe there's a standalone we could read if you just wanted to do something else this week. if we're not totally caught up by the release of the new one i don't have to read it right away so i can definitely wait til we're done with our reread.

Hey guys I think late responses from me are going to be a thing for the next 3 months but I’m here and still reading…. Just Slowly. I actually finished a few days ago but hadn’t come on to comment on it.
SO like I really wish Aslein mice were real. I would totally love to have some though they would probably get annoying after a while. But they are also so cute and I love them.
I really liked Alice and I am totally rooting for her to find her husband. I agree with @Devann that I want a book about her and her dimensional travels. That would be and awesome book. I would even settle for some short stories.
For the first time I did not see the ending coming at all. I was like (view spoiler)[wait what Anders? Really?!!! Like I totally guessed Jessica and I suspected Clint but the whole Anders thing blindsided me. I got suspicious of Clint after he lured Verity away and danced with her when she was off investigating and trying to save the next couple from being sacrificed. Ander’s like completely blindsided me especially the twist of him being Adrian’s son. His whole personality shift was also super off putting. I couldn’t believe how Lyra was just killed off like nothing by him.
I also agree that the whole live TV declaration was dumb but badass. Mainly cause it’s not really something they can back up but it’ll be interesting to see what happens next because of it.
Dominic and Verity as a couple have also really grown on me they are so cute. I was kind of iffy on them in the beginning kind of like Meh but this book finally sold me. (hide spoiler)]

I didn't read at all this weekend, even though I wanted to get thru some more of the short stories. And yesterday & today were way too busy at work - I'm actually still working on reports now (it's almost midnight)...

I see we all agree that (view spoiler)[Alice was a rockstar! Like seriously badass. I need to pull up some of her short stories because she was such a great addition to this series! Looking at the cover again, it's so funny that she appears so young. Young enough to be Verity's sister hahaha :) Huh, I didn't realize no one outside of Verity's immediate family had the Aeslin mice. I guess being an inter-dimensional traveler would make keeping the mice with her a little hard but god I would love to hear what they would say about her travels. And what holidays. I wonder why the mice stuck with their family though. Was it mentioned before? Or did they just hide them when they were being exterminated or something?

I'm glad I'm not the only one who didn't catch on earlier to Anders! I'm usually the last one, or don't see it coming at all. Agreed, that personality shift was a little out of left field. I wish Verity would've punched him at least once. Then the way he died, being smashed by the snake, was almost anti-climactic. Like I wanted him to suffer more for what he did. Call me blood-thirsty :D (hide spoiler)]

yeah there are about a million incryptid short stories and i've only read a few of them so i'm sure several of them feature alice prominently. and i'm not sure why exactly they have the mice, although i'm sure it's been mentioned. i think it's basically just like 'they found them and were actually nice to them and then the mice worshipped them and just never left'. i wonder if alice fills the mice in on all her adventures when she comes homes, because verity said they were still doing new rituals for her and stuff.

and i'll request the new thread for sunday then
