"I LOVE this series. It's excellent on audio, too. Enjoy!
Right now I am reading 3 books in ongoing series.
Devil's Claw by J.A. Jance - #8 in Joanna Brady seriesAND
Dismissed With Prejudice by J.A. Jance - #7 in J.P. Beaumont seriesAND
Hemlock Bay by Catherine Coulter - # 6 in FBI thriller series

I finished Sleep with the Lights On and was surprised at how much I loved it. I don't read a lot of this type of story and I was very pleasantly surprised! I did have a niggling issue or two with the big baddie which kept it from being a 5 star read but it came very close for me.

Both of those Jance series are on my shelf to start. I stalled on the Coulter series after book #4.

I'm a big Jance fan. I can't stand the narrator of the Beaumont books though so I need to actually read those.

For Jance I enjoy her Ali Reynolds series and need to try her others. I have not read Coulter's series yet.

Still working on the Charlie Fox series. The thing I like about these are they are different in the story line...so far anyway.

Oh, happy new year everyone. :-)

I just finished Magic Rises and WOW! If you're a Kate and Curran fan do not put this book off. I always worry about the fate of my favorite Urban Fantasy series once the hero and heroine establish their relationship and the series reaches anything past a fifth book but Ilona Andrews are a masterful writing duo. I think that this sixth book in the series is my new favorite! I'm moving right along to the seventh, Magic Breaks.

I am reading the 3 books:
, loving it

 &

, these last 2 are not holding my attention.I would try the audio versions of these but I find that after a short while my mind wanders away and I have to keep replaying so I guess I'll just keep reading.

Hang in there with Daughter of Smoke & Bone. It gets really good. Wish you had the audio because the narration was very good. It's a beautifully written story. Her prose is lyrical.

Ah I need to get to

! Too bad I already started a new book, if not, I would have joined you in a BR.

I loved
 - it is definitely an investment of time and energy, but it was so worth it and Jennifer Ikea's narration is fantastic. I do recommend listening at x1.25 speed though because she is a slow narrator and speeding up doesn't detract at all.

I finished Looking for Trouble by Victoria Dahl, Jackson: Girl's Night Out #1 (2nd book). It was pretty interesting and I enjoyed it.
I'm now reading In Seconds by Brenda Novak, Bulletproof #2.

Trinity wrote: "I have been wanting to read Daughter of Smoke & Bone (Daughter of Smoke & Bone, #1) by Laini Taylor for awhile, I am looking forward to seeing your review on it! "That's a 5 star book for me. I wrote a review without spoilers...if I find it, I'll link it here.

      Next up for me is

Off Campus by Amy Jo Cousins. It's the first in her Bend or Break series (a new series -- just what I need ;-)).

Jonetta wrote: "Me, too, Monica. I have no excuse."Monica and Jonetta you'll love Alpha and Omega! The romance between Charles and Anna is wonderful. Erin's right -- Charles is totally dark and brooding but the way Anna handles him is great! It was a little hard to wrap my head around Anna as a UF heroine at first since I'm so used to the kick ass heroine and Anna is not cut from the same mold. She's strong in her own way though! Don't forget that you need to read the novella Alpha & Omega before reading the first full length novel. No pressure or anything though. ;-)

Agreed. While Mercy and Adam are great together, Charles and Anna are amazing. Charles has a slight edge on Adam IMO probably because he is so dark and tortured. I love how Anna handles him too :0)

I'm halfway through Rules For A Proper Governess - book #7 in the Mackenzies & McBrides (formerly Highland Pleasures) by Jennifer Ashley.
Loving it so far. Bertie is a wonderful heroine - I love how secure she is in her own skin. Sinclair is dark and broody, so of course I'm smitten :0)

Interesting observation about Anna, Liz. You're completely right and I hadn't considered it before. She's definitely not standard UF heroine fare. I do see her as very strong but in a very unique way for this genre. Makes me want to go back and re-read these books. So many books, so little time. :)

Lauren and Liz, I'll definitely start this series this year. It got buried when I went on a PNR hiatus a couple of years ago.

Adding my two cents to the Alpha & Omega series. Definitely a must read! The different thing about this series is that is not about the woman by herself but about the couple. That's why Anna works...by herself, she wouldn't crack it as the usual UF heroine because she lacks that super kick ass gene (which wouldn't make sense in her case, given that's she's an Omega.)
And yes, you must read the prequel first! It's really part of the story in the first book.
Now I'm feeling like reading it...
Something else Jonetta...how advanced are you in the Mercy Thompson series? The Alpha & Omega series sort of intesects itself in the MT in the later books (meaning, that events that happen in A&O affect MT.)If you're not that far ahead in MT, you might want to read by publication year (of both series.)
Jonetta - I checked your series lists and I think you're in a good place to start the A&O series. Don't continue MT until you read the prequel and the first 3 books in the A&O series.I couldn't help myself and I started re-reading A&O!

Many thanks, D. G. I'd put off continuing MT because I'd gotten a whiff somewhere that I should read A&O before continuing. I appreciate your confirming because I've been tempted.

I finished listening to Ricochet by Sandra Brown and here's my review.
I'm now listening to The Concrete Blonde by Michael Connelly, Harry Bosch #3.

That's really good advice. In fact, it was D.G. who warned me about reading A&O after I'd done the first two Mercy books. Spot on, D.G. because intersecting the two series really gave me the bigger picture!
