What series are you reading?
Not that I expect psychotic serial killers to be nice. ;-) As long as the stuff with kids or animals isn't super drawn out I can manage.
I'm currently reading the second book in the Charles Lenox historical mystery series, The September Society
.

Kris, it doesn't have quite the draw for me as, say, the Sebastian St Cyr series but the characters and the writing have an easy, comfortable feeling that make it appealing in its own way. So far anyway, lol.

I third the recommendation for the Gaslight mystery series by Victoria Thompson. :-)I just finished
, the third in what is just an okay historical mystery series set in and around Brighton, England in the early 1950s. In this book the characters visit the Royal Pavilion in Brighton but it's all run down and virtually abandoned, a far cry from the elegance it still had when Sebastian St Cyr attended one of the Prince Regent's parties there in 1811 (When God's Die). It made me sad to think that Sebastian and Hero would be long since dead.

I just finished the next Temperance Brennan book, BONES TO ASHES, and it was very much into the crime investigations and some historical information about the Acadians. Poignant story about young girls meeting in South Carolina and their friendship is a personal backdrop, which I found fascinating.
I've finished books 1-3 in the Legal Briefs series.
I loved every book. There is a novella left that I will read before the end of the month. Other books due is the only thing keeping me from finishing the whole series right now. I also finished
. Loved it too.

I think this group is good for me. I've been trying to finish series as I start them. It throws me off my reading plan but I prefer it as character connections are clearer in my mind. I went straight from book 1 and now I'm listening to
. I've went ahead and downloaded books 3&4
